Been wanting to go here for over 30 years, The rooms are very nice with very modern decor and very nice bathrooms. The reception is a bit disappointing and dated compared to the rest of the place, The restaurant is lovely, nicely spaced out tables and nice modern decor. We had dinner but I imagine lunch would be very picturesque with the river, The food was as you would expect at this level, we had the 7 course menu but it turned into 9/10 with some complimentary extra dishes. All cooked to perfection, very traditional compared to some other 1 star Michelin restaurants I have eaten in. The wine list is beautiful but get ready as it’s not cheap, The sommelier made a couple of recommendations but towards the mid to high price range. The service was the best I’ve had in any restaurant/ hotel truly amazing lots of staff but all top class and very pleasant and smiles all round. Overall a very nice experience .

Seit über 30 Jahren mit drei Michelin Sternen ausgezeichnet. Wir waren schon einige Male hier und wurden nie enttäuscht. Perfekte Speisen in hervorragender Qualität. Sehr aufmerksamer und höflicher Service, der stets präsent war, aber nie aufdringlich. Wir hatten eine außergewöhnlich schöne Zeit in diesem fantastischen Restaurant. Sehr empfehlenswert.

We came here with my husband having heard really great things about this place. The food was very good and I can’t fault for this. When the bill arrived however we noticed that it was a bit more than expected. On closer inspection we saw that they had charged us the menu for three people instead of two. I pointed this out to our waiters- clearly showing them the number 3x and obviously being 2 and the response I got was “oh let me check that”. When they’re returned the bill they had had removed the extra charge (which amounted to more than 300 pounds) and said “sorry we have a new person doing the bills”. The reality is that charging a couple for three menus instead of two at a 3 Michelin starred restaurant is completely unacceptable and the apology we got was borderline at best. We definitely would have expected something more in response to this big a mistake at a restaurant of this calibre.

Having eaten at many restaurants which hold Michelin stars i can honestly say that this is arguably the best service & carefully constructed menu which created an utterly enjoyable dinner for myself and my partner. It disappoints me to see some of the other reviews on here because it's alien to me how someone could make such comments about the Waterside Inn.From the moment we arrived the team were on hand to greet us at our car and park it for us.If you are visiting this fine place, then remember it's one of the best restaurants in the UK, it holds 3 stars for a very good reason... It is at the absolute pinnacle of dining, the staff will make you feel welcome and be on hand when you need them. At no point does this place feel pretentious and at no point was anybody judged, people were laughing, we had a few giggles with another table and ultimately the food was absolutely fantastic. We went with "Le Menu Exceptionnel" and the sommelier made a fantastic recommendation of a Dagueneau Blanc. We also enjoyed some well crafted martinis and a 2000 Warre's vintage port with the cheese selection.Yes, it's expensive as is any starred restaurant. But it's worth every single penny.WE WILL BE BACK!

One of the finest restaurants in ?? UK.Finest French classic food / cuisine.Top hospitality and top service / attention to detail and service.Had the set menu which was excellent/ the canapés were super / the wine selections was amazing too !Can’t fault the restaurant or service !It’s quite pricey though but that’s expected and when you expect that at a three Michelin star restaurant.Beautiful food and wines ! The pigeon and venison was the highlight and went superbly with the Pomerol wine ?Verdict - 5/5Budget as per the menu / website /No limits on wine prices !Just to mention a glass of champagne was £27/-

Having been loyal patrons for almost 2 decades, the Waterside Inn has NEVER disappointed. As soon as we arrive, we immediately feel relaxed. The view...the staff...the food...everything is impeccable! There are no gimmicks or the need to be "on trend". The interior hasn't really changed much and that is part of the charm.Every single member of staff is professional, warm and courteous. They have senior staff members with long standing service but always a huge team of juniors. It's great that they nurture young talent. We always opt for the tasting menu and it is divine. Everything is cooked to perfection. We live in London so it can be a 1.5-2 hour journey but it's totally worth it for a special occasion. It is wonderful to dine somewhere away from the pretentious London crowd. You will not find annoying instagram "influencers" dining here and ruining the ambience. What a huge relief! HahahaI find some of the negative reviews rather harsh, “quality without compromise” will undoubtably come at a “price”. There are so many sub-standard restaurants that charge similar prices and I would rather save my pennies and dine here, ANY DAY!You have to ask yourself whether a 3 Michelin star restaurant could maintain it’s 3 star rating for over 38 consecutive years if it wasn’t up to the game. If you want to spoil yourself, then take a leap of faith! The menu is not “value for money” and if you’re going in with this expectation then you will be sorely disappointed. Although, I have to admit that the pre world war 1 cognac at GBP 1k a shot was insane!! We did not take the sommelier up on his charming offer of this cognac and neither were we judged for it. It was just part and parcel of a wonderful conversation. He was so knowledgeable and generous with his time, we joked and laughed as he talked through the port and cognac offerings. If people are looking for something more “cutting edge”, maybe the Fat Duck is a better option. Again, we have dined there and for us, it does not compare. It’s a completely different “vibe” and not one we would hurry back to. That is despite us being big fans of Heston for a very long time!My husband and I share the same birthday (weird I know) and this year we will celebrate 10 years of marriage, as well as our birthday. So it was indeed a special milestone and we couldn't have wished for a better time and thank the team at The Waterside Inn for once again, being outstanding! We cannot wait to return! If you love classic faultless French dining, I would highly recommend!Just be mindful to book in advance, especially during spring and summer when the weather is beautiful and you can arrive to the restaurant via a little boat!

So disappointed with this place. I have never felt so judged for my appearance at an establishment. If anything, I should be turning my nose up at this place and the poor service, not the other way round. I get the impression they are not happy with anything other than the upper-middle, upper class, which is fine with me as long as it’s clear before you get there. Haven’t had the apparently Michelin star food yet so perhaps that will help me re-review this place but so far wish I hadn’t come here at all.

Having read a few reviews here, I was worried that Waterside Inn had passed its hey day and that it would not be worth the extravagant cost. I need not have worried! Everything was exceptional- from being greeted to when we pulled up, our room was ready 45mins early, the room itself was large and comfortable. And then the restaurant and the food! It was phenomenal. We took the recommendations of our server for the signature dish of lobster. There is a reason it’s been on the menu since the 80s. Then the need and the soufflé. It was all wonderful. We are already talking about when we return.

This meal was very much a special occasion for us and the team at Waterside Inn went out of their way to make it the best possible. We had the tasting menu but swapped out a dish and we had fun with the mixologist creating cocktails to suit our taste. At the end of the meal we went outside and had cocktails and treats whilst looking over the river. This was not an every day event for us and they made sure to make it an unforgettable one.

As usual, Alain and his team serve the most wonderful meal with first class service. Stayed overnight with family in the beautiful riverside rooms.

Delighted to join friends for lunch at the Waterside we were not disappointed by the ambience, the staff and the beautifully located table. It’s an elegant restaurant with superb staff and of course it comes at a price- £250 per person for three courses. Other than a very ordinary crab starter (no taste and a unexciting presentation) the main course and dessert was beautifully presented and tasty but with a bottle of wine and three glasses of wine the £1350 bill for four was a little less digestible. We have warm memories of the Waterside, but this time we thought the overall experience was less memorable.

So don't get me wrong from this 3* review, the food was very good, as you would expect from a 3 Michelin starred restaurant. However I've dined at a fair number of single starred restaurants over the years and I hate to say it, but the waterside feels like it's lagging behind. The food itself is very classic and "safe". There's nothing particularly innovative about it, nothing that stands out and "wows" me. I thought that this was the criteria to earn your 3 stars. At £800 for 2 of us, I do not feel I got good value for money. The staff were extremely attentive and very friendly, although as they were rushing around a lot my chair was bashed into a few times, without apology. The wine selection was excellent and the sommelier knew his stuff. One other slight gripe was after the meal I got reception to order a taxi. Some unlicenced (or didn't display a licence) car turned up. We were charged considerably more than the Uber that got us there. Please switch to using a reputable, metered, local taxi firm.
