British Restaurants in Old Windsor

“A friend and I stayed here recently for one night, occupying two rooms. Breakfast was included and we also had the carvery dinner. Whilst the accommodation was adequate, it was certainly no more than that and, at £105 per room, frankly disappointing. The premises are extremely dated and long overdue for refurbishment, particularly the carpets. While the bathrooms have been updated, this appears to have been done fairly cheaply and the resulting impression is not one of quality.Unfortunately for us it was a voucher scheme night, meaning that people were queued to the door for the carvery and although we thought we had booked a table, due to a glitch in the online reservation system, this turned out not to be the case. This is where your exceptional staff came to the rescue and saved the day, and our stay. Although we did have to wait until 8pm for a table, Chris, efficiently manning both the front desk and the bar, could not have been more helpful, resolving our mix-up calmly and politely. When we eventually sat down for dinner, Alice provided us with incredibly warm and personal service, normally only encountered in much more expensive restaurants, not self-service carveries. Tina, the manager, while overseeing an extremely busy restaurant that night, also found time to have a pleasant chat with us as we praised her staff to her. This wonderfully attentive service continued the following morning when we met lovely Susan at breakfast. Being a fellow coeliac she understood my friend struggling with the lack of gluten-free options on the breakfast buffet, and would willingly have offered her own food, had she had any with her that day.Working at a high level in hospitality myself, I understandably appreciate outstanding customer service when I receive it, and the service provided by your staff throughout our stay was absolutely second-to-none. They should all be highly commended and rewarded as you are very fortunate to have them !”
