Lovely old pub, hidden away, great choice of beers, friendly staff, good jazz venue.

Matt Reid

A small residential local, with a excellent selection of ales, a small bar area, with a much larger lounge area behind.

Loved this place a million years ago when Rose and George ran it. So glad it’s still there

Old school back street boozer. Just on the edge of town. A couple of cask ales.

One of my favourite places for a drink in the world

Terrific back street 2 room locals pub with attentive staff and a nice range of independent ales.A bit out of the way from the centre but if you're in the area you'll find it very cosy and welcoming. Recommended.

A proper little gem at the heart of the community. One night you'll pull up a stool and end up chatting with the whole room, and another you'll be drawn in by the blues, folk or jazz in the back room. Worth checking their noticeboard for what's on.

Without doubt the best beer pub in Reading and perhaps Berkshire?Very friendly locals and Landlord/Lady alike...well worth a visit, even if like us you have to travel a little.

The atmosphere feels like you are sitting in someone's front lounge! Great beer and a friendly crowd

Sue Thirlaway

Lovely friendly pub with excellent cask beer.

For me, the best pub in Reading for live music. Good beer selection and super friendly landlord. The bands are really not your average - there are other pubs in Reading that do really good music evenings, but these guys have the best musicians I’ve heard outside of a paid gig.
