Went here for a new year's wedding, really lovely and helpful staff. My son has allergies and they were very accommodating in the restaurant helping me find suitable meals for him. Decor is a little dated in some rooms but the rooms themselves are very comfortable with a good amount of

I have been to multiple Christmas parties at the hotel for 5 or 6 years now, and it's been always brilliant - good service, good food, good entertainment.

We had an amazing time at Christmas party ?The venue was beautifully decorated, even with red carpet in the front entrance. The food was great and atmosphere was very cheerful. Looking forward to come again and have more celebrations ?Thank

Had a joiner Christmas Party- food was delicious, staff were attentive, the marquee looked lovely. All the staff that attended had a great time and those that didn’t know they missed out on a great evening. Thanks again we will be back!

We went for festive afternoon tea today. Definitely not worth it! Bog standard sandwiches with slightly below par stale bread. Service didn't exist and had to get up and ask for our drinks. Went to pay and told they don't do cash (fortunately my friend had a card and agreed to pay for me bit, could have been very awkward had they not been there, the staff was also very rude which didn't help my disgruntlement). Service charge was automatically added on despite there not really being any service. Then the 'santa experience'... Well I have no words. Just don't do it. Its just not worth it!Edit: I can't believe you have insinuated myself as a grinch!

I would like to thank the hotel staff for the amazing Christmas party this year. The location and organization was great, food was absolutely delicious, plus good music and entertainment. Highly recommend.

Room didn't have WiFi as too far from the main building.Bathroom heater didn't work so unable to bath or shower as too cold.Room very dated.Breakfast was OK.Certainly not worth the £255 for a single night... especially when you can't use the bathroom as it's too cold and the only response was "Maybe the radiator needs bleeding"...

Extremely disappointing and not value for money:It took 20 minutes for someone to arrive and check us in, despite pressing the bell several times. We paid for "A La Carte menu," but it wasn't offered as it was the wrong day, without us being told and had no taste Fish n Chips and bangers n mash at a ridiculous price. We were put directly above the party tent, so we didn't get any sleep till well after midnight. When we complained, the lovely receptionist was told to charge us full price despite not having our 2nd evening meal. The bed was very uncomfortable as you could feel the springs in the mattress.Would've been better at a Premier Inn.The journey to the restaurant takes you outside.

Although room initially looked great, itcwas quite expensive at £170 and the two mirrors were set so high, on my tiptoes i could just see, at arms length, no good for make up or shaving.Apparently no wifi, no information in rooms other than menu/ times for meals. Bed comfy, room a bit cold single glazed door and windows with blinds.Breakfast was fine, main complaint the tongs were ' shared' for mushrooms and hash browns, as a coeliac i wiped the best tongs and luckily noticed hash brown in the mushroom pot. I cant eat gluten free bread anyway. But there seemed no provision for this.Happy with cooked bacon, Mushroom. Tomato and some fruit plan yoghurt. Coffee was fine.Others in our party remarked there was no phone to ring reception ( they wanted a mirror too).Lots of little niggles.Lovely ponds and stables lovely decoration.Chap on reception very quiet not at all welcoming and ignored us as we left.Pity as a few things would have made it 10/10

We enjoyed our stay and liked the ambience of the hotel, lots of old wood feel. When we arrived we found we had been upgraded to a suite, I had hurt my ankle so couldn't.walk upstairs, so they transferred our booking to a ground floor room, we thought it would just be a Double Premium Room like we had booked but we appreciated that they gave us an upgrade to a suite.Nice food and good service in the Stables restaurant.Nearby activities: Berkshire Aviation Museum nearby and very interesting

I understand this hotel is popular as a wedding venue, the property looks like an extended country house standing in amongst trees and lawns. Our stay was only one night B&B. The rambling extensions on the old house have put access to the breakfast room across an open courtyard, so if it's raining you are going to get wet! We arrived in torrential rain and water was flowing across the entrance steps, might help if they fixed the gutters and drains? Didn't see any signposting for the breakfast room so got lost looking for it! My room seemed to have a sound system (no idea how it worked) not sure if in every room. Noticeable lack of energy efficiency measures, no double glazing, single flush on WC not working. The bathroom was smart and reasonably well thought through, a large shelf to lay out toiletries, but its height might make the mirror above too high for some people, but a good vanity mirror is provided in the room which my wife appreciated. The central heating appeared to be off, but underfloor heating in bathroom was a plus. Galley bathroom fitted with WC, wash basin, bath and shower, with plenty of hot water.Walkability: Being an extended old building there are some changes in levels upstairs, so ground floor rooms recommended for people with limited mobility. Access ramps seem available at front entrance steps.
