The service was top class and the food good, but by the time our vegetables were delivered to oyster table our meats and nut roasts were cold.

Had braised beef cheeks for Sunday lunch and it was excellent. It came with a good selection of veg and a Yorkshire pudding. The pub has a good range of well kept beers and the service was friendly and efficient.

Finding our usual place shut, we went to the Port o’call. I’ve coming here, off and on, for over 30 years. We agreed it’s kept its vibe of old, but with tidiness and happy things. Not bad. Tell you what - staff are energetic and friendly, beers nice to drink and with difference, menu is varied and full of yum, food arrive quickly and with polish. Oh Yes! Afterwards, we go like you know what… I can’t think of anything to complain about. And you can’t say fairer than that! That’s a Bingo!!

We were recommended to come here by friends of friends, and we weren’t disappointed. We were seated immediately (booking definitely recommended!). We were asked for drinks within 2 mins of being seated and served quickly. Great choice of meats, including my favourite (lamb) which a lot of places don’t serve anymore. The meal itself was absolutely delicious! My lamb was gorgeous. One or two slices were really thick! The other three on our table had the three meats (beef, pork and lamb). They thoroughly enjoyed it.

Website says children welcome. But doesn’t make clear that they must leave by 5pm. It is worth knowing ahead, as your otherwise well planned evening can be stuffed up, alternative dinner arrangements needed asap, kids made unhappy etc.

Gorgeous pub. Would visit again, as soon as possible!
