Following a disappointing Xmas lunch here we were invited back for an all expenses paid evening meal as the management were keen to turn our bad experience around. Due to circumstances beyond the pubs control, the staff working on Xmas day had been drafted in from other pubs at the last minute to avoid having to close the pub entirely, and customers were not made aware of this situation. Our second visit on Friday evening couldn't have been better - excellent service, great food and a special thanks to Russell and his team for going above and beyond to ensure our experience was a good one - nothing was too much trouble and we would not hesitate in recommending this place. If we had known about the troubles this pub had encountered over the Xmas period, we would've been far more sympathetic and not left an initial review - sometimes life throws a curveball and appreciate the pub actually opening on Xmas day. We will definitely be returning.

Sadly being charged £18 for a Sunday lunch main course of belly pork where the piece of pork was 2 inches by 2 inches and the skin was not crisp and the plate was overloaded with vegetables was not good value for money. Much more care to serve a meal that is good value for what is a lot of money is needed. Service from the young man was superb though. First rate. Pity the main course didn’t ‘t live up to it. I would need a recommendation that things had improved to go again.

I have enjoyed the White Hart for over 30 years now. The owners and employees may have changed over the years but the warmth of welcome, quality of food and ambience remains superb.

We went here for Saturday lunch. Really friendly service from Luice who was helpful and attentive. I had the fish and chips and my friend had the fish pie (which was a special). Both delicious and very generous servings. No room for pud but we had a lovely coffee to finish. Highly recommended.

While I rarely leave reviews, our Christmas Day meal was an unfortunate disappointment. The wait for our mains was close to two hours, and when they arrived, the excessive salt made them inedible. Sadly, it wasn't just our table; nearby diners faced similar issues, meaning they already knew the food was not suitable and still decided to serve us the same 10 minutes later. The only silver lining was the attentive and apologetic staff who promptly acknowledged the need for a refund. I've been a patron of this pub for almost two decades and have previously enjoyed fantastic food and service. It's puzzling how things went so awry despite advance notice of numbers and meal choices for Christmas Day. If unable to manage on such occasions, perhaps offering this service isn't viable especially when charging over £100 per head. Hoping for a return to the usual standard on our next visit, where I can swap this review for a more positive one.

All five of us had a fantastic time on Christmas Day. A very relaxed lunch - great service, as usual. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Very much recommend The White Hart to friends and family. We will be back!

rediculous wait times and a christmas day dinner spoilt :( was not worth the £470 we paid and have daughter didn't have any potatoes on her plate, when we left i mentioned it and they wiped our drinks bill we also only had turkey and gammon and were missing duck but couldn't be bothered to mention it as we had already waited so long. the childrens portions were the same size as the adult portions had even though we paid for 2 adults and 4 children so i was confused why we had to pay double the price for adult meals if they were all the same size meals anyway. The room we were in wasn't cold, we were by a radiator, they even made a comment about us having the best table in the place, however there was a family there with a dog, and as much as i appreciate a dog friendly pub etc the dog kept barking and growling and my children, who i couldn't keep seated for the length we were waiting for the food to come, imaging the dog had bit one of the children ! The service wasn't great we were left for long periods and had to chase our food a few times. the music and atmosphere wasn't great, christmas music could have atleast been played- luckily me being me had youtube and loves an excuse to have a sing song which i think the rest of them appreciated also ! being my first eating out experience at xmas it was disappointing especially as we choose to eat here for xmas because a meal we previously had there was lovely :(

Accommodated 20 people for lunch. We were all very appreciative that we were allowed to arrive early after a very wet walk. All served lunch together. Great service.

We’ve dined here many times now as the location is very handy for meeting up with family. Always easy to park and a great location for a walk to burn off, or to prepare for those calories. The menu is good but could do with a little more variety and the prices somewhat on the higher side than we’ve previously experienced here. Service is generally good but was a little slow on this visit, which we assumed was down to someone new in the role. Whilst this review is slightly negative we’ll certainly return and would thoroughly recommend the White Hart.

Family party if 20, old and young, great hospitals service, good menu and cooking… very well done and worthy of a good tip!

Disappointing. Very, very long wait for meal. When the roast dinner finally came there were no green vegetables and a tiny portion of other vegetables. Roast potatoes were rock hard. A tiny jug of gravy was left for two people ... when asked for more gravy it was supplied but was very thin and watery. During the long wait we were frequently approached by staff asking if we wanted more drinks ... it felt like a hard sell of alcoholic drinks to take our minds off the hunger pangs. Fully expected some kind of reduction in the bill for the poor experience but all we had were perfunctory apologies for the unacceptable wait.

A very disheartening and disappointing Christmas day experience. On arrival we were sent into the small area/ room of which there was no lit fire, it was very cold and lacked any Christmas atmosphere. No music. There was a TV which had a picture of a fire burning above the none lit coal burning fire. My fingers were actually numb. We waited 25 minutes before we were offered any drinks and another 45 minutes before the cold starters arrived and this was after we prompted the waitress several times because we had been waiting over 35 minutes for the starters to arrive. The young waitress who served us was passively aggressive, stressed and rude. We noticed that later on she put her coat on and walked out of the restaurant finishing her shift early. This was just after she told us we would have to wait 10 minutes to speak to the manager. When we spoke to the manager he explained to us that two of the chefs hadn’t turned in for the day he was very smiley and offered us compensation for our drinks. He promised us the dinner would be out in 5 minutes we waited a further 25!We arrived at the restaurant at 13:00 and our Christmas dinners came out at 14:45. They were none edible. No pigs in blankets, hard Brussels sprouts, tough meat, cold Yorkshire's. There were several other people in our area who were unhappy with the food and service and there was a table opposite where two ladies waited over an hour and a half for their starters. When they were eventually brought out they were the wrong orders. Some of my party had driven over an hour to get to the destination today. We left halfway through our Christmas dinners and did not have dessert. This is a disorganised un atmospheric, poorly run Christmas day venue, that serves cold tasteless food at £106 per head.

Shocking service.communication - non-existent . Food cold and inedible. Staff were mixing up orders. And we were told 2 chefs had not come, plus we had got forgotten. No heating. No atmosphere. No music. Staff clearly did not want to be there. Extremely overpriced! I would rate this whole Christmas Day experience with a zero.

The staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere was amazing. The food was great. I will definitely visit again!

Ruined our Christmas day, some of our family members travel day for an hour. The manager apologising and said two chefs didn’t turn up. The food came out after 2.5 hours wait it was cold and was not edible, we didn’t even get to the desert, as we left our Christmas dinners and walked out. One of the waitresses put their coats on and also walked out. There was no atmosphere ( Christmas music) the restaurant was freezing cold and the fires were not lit. It was actually laughable that they put a TV screen above one of the coal fires and had a burning fire projected on it! A total Christmas Day Ruiner! At £106 per head! Gutted!!
