The revamped restaurant only opened in early 2024 and is still finding it's feet. On a busy Valentine's night they were really struggling with service levels and service staff simply not trained and up to speed. The maitre de was covering for everyone and run off his feet. Everything was delayed. Steak wasn't served as ordered, and the food wasn't as good as the price demanded it should be, starter drinks took ages to arrive, and the tables are way too small, no ice jacket or bucket for an expensive wine. Maitre de was incredibly apologetic and bill was reduced accordingly. Lots of teething problems to overcome.

We went to try the new steakhouse. The food itself was very tasty; we had burger, flat iron steaks and dirty fries (bearnaise sauce was a little too bland and the steak was a little overdone on the medium rare if I am being picky). Atmosphere was lovely. Waiters were very nice but the food was very slow even though we arrived as it opened so very quiet (possibly because it is new/kitchen wasn't ready?). The waiter accidentally spilled half a bottle of J20 onto my sons lap, mistakes do happen and they were very apologetic and asked if there was anything they could offer complimentary and I suggested desserts would be nice. When the bill came they only had taken off one dessert despite my son sit uncomfortably in soaking wet clothes for the whole evening (we had actually considered going home which would definitely have ruined our whole evening) and it was a very long time due to the slow service. I spoke to the manager and explained I thought it was all the desserts were offered complimentary and got him to change it. I wish I hadn't had to go and speak to the manager to get things cleared up but to be fair there was no fuss or argument from their side which was much appreciated.Manager: some other little feedback to improve; offer a plate for the olive stones - there was nothing to put them on other than the table cloth! Ice in the tap water glasses/jig would be nice. A kids menu would be nice if you want to encourage families (you might not!) and a drinks menu would be helpful.

Restaurant very noisy. Although our waitress was very nice, service was slow. Scallop and pork belly starter was expensive for what you got, it looked like one small scallop cut into 3 pieces. The buffalo cauliflower was cold but was replaced very quickly. Personally we thought the steaks were expensive (£38 rump and (£51 T-bone). The selection of Low or 0% drinks was disappointing, San Miguel 0% beer was the only option. Our bill for 4 people, 3 starters and 4 mains and 5 alcoholic drinks would have been £178. Lucky we had the 40% discount.

Steaks and apps weren't cooked to order and so difficult to cut and eat. Not worth the price. Atmosphere was ok. Service was lacking a bit. It was quiet which was great. No. Mention of our bdays even though we put it in the reservation.

Food was beautiful. Couldn't fault it. The waiting staff were great. Would eat here again.

Each time I go here I think maybe it will have improved but sadly still so disappointing! Bar area doesn't have an identity, never many people in there, no working WiFi, average at best coffee. So much of the lounge area given over to the tea room. I noticed the interior has recently had a refurbishment in some areas and the bar lunch menu looked promising, but not sure where you'd sit to eat it......

Probably not where you'd think to go for burger and fries in town but both the standard and spicy burgers on the bar menu are really good. Fries are nice and crispy too. Great value considering this is a hotel restaurant. been a few times now and it's been great every time. Definitely need to eat over the plate though as its so juicy! Nice bar and restaurant with lovely staff.

The perfect stop on our way home from a hen do to get some vegetables in! A family style roast with perfect potatoes and red cabbage. I had to be rolled out! Highly recommend.

Lovely staff and good food (we had the roast). One thing we struggled with was the facilities for baby changing. There was only a baby changing area in the ladies toilets. Perhaps worth considering adding something to the men's toilets as for anyone who is a single father etc this would be a struggle. My husband wanted to go and change our son as I was still eating my meal but I had to go due to him not being able to.

Had dinner here on a Sunday night. The restaurant was quite quiet but had been extremely busy for Sunday lunch we were told. The service was good though, the waitress was very friendly and helpful. We both chose the steak as the other options didn't really appeal a d we felt for us, there wasn't a great choice. However the steak was well worth it, beautifully tender, just the right portion size and I think the chips were the best I've ever tasted! A tad on the pricey side but certainly worth it.

A warm welcome followed by great friendly service. Food was well executed and well presented. We had Sunday lunch and it didn’t disappoint. My thought , you would get better value if you just had mains and a desert.

"Restaurant empty so no ambience. 2 or the 4 drinks ordered Coke Zero and diet were not available. Order 3 scallops at £14 each and received a ridiculously small portion you could barely make it the scallops as they were so small. Pâté was better value and my wife enjoyed it. Both roast beef were well over cooked and chewy. Plenty of veg and liked roasted carrots and parsnips. Service was good but overall experience poor so would not return or recommend."

A small group of us attended for our Work Christmas Lunch. The menu was good and covered everyone's dietary needs. Our waiter was very pleasant and attentive. The food was average and not very warm, but that may be due to the fact the restaurant itself was cold and very drafty. We were the only guests eating so the service was quick. Hopefully they can survive in these difficult business times

Great tasting menu with paired wines Dukes special evening in the Tea rooms provided a fantastic 6 course tasting menu with the highlight of a duck dish that just melted and had tremendous flavour. Dukes has always produced great food and this evening provided a great atmosphere too We will be back for more special evenings like this
