Arranged my fathers surprise party in the side room on 23rd March 2024 Leanne and Sham where absolutely brilliant. They listened and catered for all our needs and made the whole party go perfectly. We hired the room that was clean and great space, ordered the buffet they offered ( outstanding food ) and even helped us to decorate the room. WELL DONE GUYS thank you so much.

Stopped from a walk of the local Chiltern hills to find a large fronted pub in a village setting. Once through the door net with a rambling series of rooms around a pleasant small bar. Although met promptly by staff and seated at our reserved table we had to order our own drinks at the bar after waiting 10 minutes. A further 15 minutes before our order was taken and it was over an hour before our food arrived. Three cask ales on offer and the one sampled was good if a little hazy. Food was mostly well presented and tasty but white bait was rubbery. I'd think again before returning due to the poor service.

Worst pub roast I’ve ever had and they’re charging £21 for it! Roast potatoes were hard and under-cooked. Once I cut the lamb up it was only about 1/3 edible meat and the rest was fat and gristle. After complaining about the potatoes, they brought more out that were just as bad. (Photo is of the second lot of potatoes) Overall the atmosphere and staff just felt so off and I wouldn’t recommend this pub to anyone.

Locals pub, friendly enough but didn’t have all the food available and didn’t tell us until we tried to order the unavailable items.Parking: A few spaces immediately outside and a car park next to the pub

I had a 60th party in the function room at The Gate with my family. The room is a nice size. The location is lovely and the food and service was great.

Always a lovely welcome at The Gate. We had a party of 7 adults for Saturday lunch. The food was excellent - all arrived at once and we were all very pleased with what we had (including burgers, cajun salmon and excellent chips!)Service was friendly and attentive.Kid-friendliness: Children are very very welcome at The Gate. I didn't have my kids with me this time, but I often have in the past.

Amazing food, random location and two play areas for the kids. Worth a visit but make a reservation

Went to our first 'Curry Club' at the Gate. The food was exceptional, and portions were very generous. There was live entertainment between mains and dessert, which was fantastic. The belly dancer was so talented and engaging with the audience, and those brave enough to join her were welcomed. It was a really fun night, and I would definitely be coming back.Parking: Parking is very limited

Had a really lovely lunch here today. Excellent Sunday roast (my husband loved the trio of roasts and the nut and lentil roast was delicious). Really nice atmosphere, felt really relaxed and very well looked after by the staff.Vegetarian options: Great veggie roast
