The contemporary rear extension is a very good example of Juxtaposition. The existing structure is very dark and warren like.Having the two structures meet seamlessly shows the design works well. However, the atmosphere is a little dead with the new extension and could do with some sort of dividing furniture / screens to make it feel less like a canteen. The food is tasty and presented well. The staff are pleasant and thoughtful. The prices are a little above average. (To help keep out the typical Weatherspoon Neanderthals)The outside space is very pleasant but the garden pods sadly clash architecturally with the extension.

Not a bad place just a terrible experience. Food took far too long and was not the best. Service was fine but when the food takes that long it doesn't matter how good the service is. Shame as I am sure it's a decent place in

From the moment our group of four stepped into the enchanting Oakpod at The Polecat Inn, we knew we were in for a treat. The unique Oakpod experience offers a private sanctuary where you’re served as if you were in the comfort of your own home, but with the added delight of exquisite culinary creations. The Inn’s pet-friendly policy is a breath of fresh air, allowing our furry companion to join us in the pod, garden, and bar. It’s worth noting that when booking the Oakpod, our dog was counted as a guest due to the capacity limit, which speaks volumes about the establishment’s consideration for comfort and space. The food was nothing short of amazing. A fusion of classic Italian cuisine paired with mouthwatering desserts left our taste buds dancing with joy. The vegan ice cream was a revelation – easily some of the best we’ve ever savored, bursting with flavor yet mindful of dietary preferences. In summary, The Polecat Inn offers an exceptional dining experience that caters to all, including our four-legged friends. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a meal that’s as delightful and comforting as it is refined.

We went to the Polecat in for early dinner on a Sunday. There were 26 of us, we placed our order before hand with the ever helpful Rory who was nothing but accommodating to our requests. There were a few vegetarians in our group and I must say the veggie roast was delicious, served piping hot! Everyone complimented their meals, and the children were all happy. Our waiter Adam was extremely hospitable, everything we ordered arrived presented immaculately and on time. He was patient and attentive to the children.Fantastic experience! Thank you Adam and Rory. 5 star service.

I got treated to a lovely meal in one of the pods for my birthday recently and have to say the food was delicious and the service was great. Will definitely be going back. Although much prefer it when someone else is paying.Vegetarian options: I had the butternut squash pie, very yummy.

I was eating alone so sat in the bar. I ordered the roast beef for £20+ and to say it was disappointing is an understatement. Initially it was warm but I kept biting into cold bits and by the time I finished it was completely cold. Meat was piled on top of vegetables which is not ideal. I would like to know how a roast dinner is prepared here as I'm not convinced it was freshly served. Definitely not value for money.

Both the battered haddock and the chips were outstanding, very crispy and not at all greasy. Mushy peas were unpleasant.

Plenty of good things, but the food only average although a step up from chain pubs. Plenty of parking, nice grounds, and the service was very good. There were couples and families, it is also pet friendly. Overall, a pleasant experience with average food.

We had a pod outside to ourselves. Was absolutely lovely. The 4 of us had not had a chance to really catch up in ages. We had no distractions. 1 of us is hard of hearing. He loved the fact that he could hear everything being said clearly. The Chicken berger is pretty good

Food was really nice and had lots of home cooked feeling meals. The vegetarian options were really good and the butternut squash, mushroom and spinach pie was delicious. We sat in the pods outside whilst it was freezing outside the pod temperature was perfect and was nice to have your own space.
