Outstandingly helpful chef and the food was tasty, we'll happily go again.

We had a very bland experience here on Saturday night. When we arrived they told us they had no ales left because of a party two nights previously had drunk them dry. This seemed really hard to believe and meant only the very expensive (£7/pint) Neck Oil was available. Then when it came to the menu, the options were so limited, being nothing like the menu on the outside of the building. Four of our party of five opted for burgers which all looked and tasted at though they'd come out of the freezer, just like the spring roll starter. The only food that was enjoyed was the calamari, but the prices were so high. The service was really slow and one main came out five minutes after the other four. I'm not sure how recently these proprietors have taken over, but they really need to up their game or reduce their prices significantly

This feedback is intended to be constructive for a pub with great potential.Sadly, didn’t feel like the food or the service was worth the money and feel really disappointed that we’ve paid over £100 for a sub-par Saturday night meal. The wine was warm and when questioned we were told the wine was in the freezer. We ordered a dry white wine and received a sweet wine. The Prosecco was served in a wine glass and again warm. The starters were tiny portions and nothing homemade. Spring rolls were basic tiny ones out of the freezer and only receiving 4 for £8 with a small ramekin of out of the bottle sweet chilli sauce. The fish and chips were soggy, with no flavour. Everything was just so oily. The tartare sauce was almost jelly-like and clearly out of a squeezy tube. The vinegar was served in a ramekin with a tea-spoon and when we ordered a cup of tea we were given warm milk with a fruity tea bag!We love to support local and were pleased to see this pub open but we won’t be back until some changes have been made towards improving.

we found the pub to be cold and empty and this was a Saturday night about 7pm , I needed to use the toilet and the urinal and cubicle was out of order and it stank of urine it was NOT clean at all that was the mens side I don't know what condition the ladys was in ?. we found the food to be mediocre definitely over priced for what it was , we will not be going again, the staff seemed they didn't really want to be their. The special's had run out and we asked for a certain drink they wear out of stock of that. Very poor

This has to be the worst place to go for Sunday lunch in the area. When we arrived at 1pm there was only one couple in there and now we know why.The service was mediocre, we asked for cauliflower cheese which never turned up. They said they were dog friendly, but we got the impression our 2 Cockapoos were not welcome. The roast itself was very basic. 2 slices of over cooked beef with 2 (which looked and tasted like) Aunt Bessie‘s Yorkshire puddings. Avoid.

Arrived for Sunday lunch, car park empty and only one person in the pub. Service was mediocre, not much atmosphere, food over priced for 2 slices of overcooked beef £23 then extra for cauliflower cheese! I asked for a glass of wine which never arrived I then got an apology and he would bring the wine which by then I didn’t want! Just basics like no salt and pepper on the table, awful experience sadly won’t be returning.

A superb pub. Great food, liver pate, fish & chips, the beef burger was great as was the king prawn linguine..Dropped into brewery after, sad to see their tap room packed and this rather nice pub providing great service but quite quiet. Recommend this rather nice pub.

A lot of the menu including some wines were not available but were still advertised. Our starter came incomplete as some parts were unavailable. We were not informed when we ordered or when they arrived at the table!

Lovely pub with good food, friendly service, and a selection of well kept ale.

Surprisingly quiet pub with wingback chairs. Felt like a scene from the Godfather. Also leather seats in the covered smoking

Just popped in for a drink whilst on a walk. It looked like it’s under new management again. Mix up of chair styles. Many dirty. Didn’t have any Gin, As in none. Just empty bottles on the shelf. Tried a glass of champagne. That was flat. Also, charged £6:90 for a pint. Tom Kerridge is cheaper. Never ate there after that. Could be a great pub, with new comfy seats and plenty of fireplaces right now though it’s not a comfortable, clean feel. Along with poor or limited selection of pub drinks.

Just back from Sunday lunch which was delicious- roast beef with all the trimmings, topped with a sizeable yorkshire pudding. The service was quick despite us being a large table, and polite. We came here last year before the chef change and ha a very different experience. To all who have been previously- do give this new chef a chance: you won't be disappointed. To all who have never been: its worth it for a lovely Sunday roast which the whole family spontaneously voted 5 star.

Excellent food with great service. Food beautifully prepared and served and the chef was happy to tweak one dish to suit my friend who didn’t like one of the ingredients. We were surprised it wasn’t busier on a Friday evening which is why I’ve only given 4 stars for atmosphere but that suited us as we were catching up after not seeing each other for some years.

Absolutely lovely Sunday lunch. One of the best I’ve ever had. Look forward to coming back!
