Table choice was very limited, not because of it being busy, but because of material that might fall from the ceiling apparently? (Looked OK to me). Wouldn't normally have mattered to me but I had taken a elderly friend out for dinner and would have liked to have been sat in a quieter area where we could hear each other clearly, rather than sat next to bigger and noisier tables. The bread that accompanied the soup was definitely not freshly cut. (it had started to hardened on both sides) and the croutons in the soup tasted as tho they were past their best.Steak was not cooked to liking either. In fairness, I'm sure if I had complained, then the food issues may have been addressed.I have dined here many times in the past with my family, but not for a year or so and it was always very good.On this occasion I had taken an elderly friend out for dinner, and did not want to make any fuss.Hopefully this was a one off experience?

Absolutely brilliant. A lovely pub hidden in Wendover, the food came out very quickly, the gammon was perfectly cooked and our server, Keyleigh, was very friendly and chatty. Would happily return,

Had to wait over an hour for food and then got a parking ticket. When I called to ask them if they would cancel it they rudely refused as they said they had signs up, I certainly didn’t see any. Don’t see why they can’t just cancel it as a common curtesy to a customer. Won’t be going there again.

The food was wonderful. It's the first place that I ever had Pork Belly, and it's still the best. The Salted Caramel Sundae was equally fantastic.

Food was ok with most of the tried and tested choices of a pub chain.

We visited today for lunch, as it was our wedding anniversary tomorrow and was likely to be less busy on a Friday lunchtime. The food was very good, as was the service by Keyleigh. She was polite, very efficient and nothing was too much trouble. We were served promptly, with great humour. Highly recommended.

Disappointing The Pie was rock hard and inedible.. unfortunately the elderly gentleman suffering from Parkingsons was too embarrassed to say anything till too late The Chicken dish was miserly Gammon, Fish and Burger were adequate Mixed grill was good

Was served by Charlotte who looked after us really well, checking details to ensure we had all the information we needed. Recommended a delicious dessert and was just lovely.
Went for lunch here today with family friends, and a short staffed team of 3 absolute legends ran their tails off to deliver delicious food, in a timely, courteous, kind and thoughtful manner to our table of 9 with 2 dogs. Even the dogs had yummy sausages! Anja, I believe you’re the boss, please give today’s team a promotion/bonus. The pub was full of happy, relaxed customers and they kept their smiles up throughout. What a team!

Breakfast with Santa We've just got back from having breakfast with Santa this morning. It was such a lovely experience. The staff were so welcoming and accommodating. The service was amazing and the food was great too. We've made more happy memories as a family. We've decided this will become a Christmas tradition for us as a family. Thank you, everyone, at the Shoulder of Mutton.

First visit for years. Atmosphere was really great for a Christmas lunch. It was busy but not too noisy and you had plenty of space between tables. Unfortunately there was no water. Initially told that there was no hot water for hot drinks, then I went to the toilet and there was no water to wash your hands. Grateful for having my hand sanitizer. The meals were tasty but some of the items were missing and I had to point this out to the waitress who did not seemed concerned and just said they probably ran out and no alternative offered. I probably would not have had the dish if I'd known beforehand. It seemed like the restaurant was short staffed as the only time we saw our waitress was when we ordered and when she served our food and drinks. Did not check in or collect our plates or offer us desert. We wait so long after finishing that I had to search for someone to get the bill and then return to the area to pay.
