A traditional English tea house by the river. The decoration and food/beverage presentations are very nice. The food is delicious and fresh, and they have a very extensive tea menu. We visited on the weekend, and although it was very crowded, we found a table quickly. The staff are very polite, helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend anyone visiting Ely to stop by here.

This perfect tea rooms with B&B are unmissable. The ambience and produce as well as the service are second to none. The B&B rooms are the most beautiful in East Anglia with superb rooms, wonderful views, every book you could want to read, tea, biscuits and fresh milk and fruit provided in the large rooms and a memorable bathroom bigger than most bedrooms. Our lunch and tea were sublime and our breakfast delicious. All the teas were amazing- we just did not have time to sample them all…! We will return soon and thanks to all the super-friendly staff as well as Rachel and George.

I visited this tea room as it appears listed as the best in many sites and had some raving reviews. It started well, as it is a very cozy place with a lot of personality and very cute china. I went at lunchtime, ordered tea and a special of the day: soup with a cheese scone. The tea was nice, and it came in pretty crockery. The soup was tasteful, but a bit watery and to be frank, scarce in quantity. I guess it comes with a scone, which means to be the filling part of lunch. The issue was: the cheese scone was probably among the worst scones I ever tried - dry as the desert despite the butter I spread on it, tasteless and just not enjoyable. I love scones and was looking forward to it - I wasn’t able to eat more than two small bites. I never leave food on the plate, but I left the scone, despite my hunger. Still quite hungry after the nicely tasting but too light leek and Stilton soup, I ordered a slice of carrot cake, which looked delicious. Alas, it was the worst carrot cake I ever tried - the cake was undercooked, bland and just not good. I gave up after a forkful, despite my hunger. It came with a whole walnut on top of the frosting - which I ate, and it was stale! I paid 19 pounds for a tea, soup on the watery side and terrible baked goods with stale walnuts on top. The servers seemed totally oblivious and distracted - when I asked for the bill with my practically uneaten scone and carrot cake (except a small bite), and they took the food away, no one asked if there was anything wrong, or how everything was. Maybe this is considered normal with the food they serve? Terribly disappointed, not the best service and some of the worst baked goods I ever tried, for an unreasonably high price for the quality. I don’t know what happened today - but I will definitely not be coming back. Maybe just for a tea but no food. (The tea was good, and they have a wide selection) If anyone wonders if my standards are maybe too high, know this: still quite hungry, I visited another tea room in Ely near the cathedral and went for another tea and a scone. The scone was simply delightful, what a difference!

We visited here after seeing reviews on Trip Adviser and were not disappointed. Cosy feel with lovely china teapots, cups etc. Mixed ages in our group but all enjoyed our lunch which varied from scones to a cooked lunch. The staff were very pleasant and obliging. Very extensive menu of different teas and food. When you come out you are right near the river so great for a walk along to look at the boats there. Watch for the opening times though as we returned on the following Monday only to find it was closed and doesn’t open every day.

We came to Ely and stayed for a few days and one of the highlights we had was we visited Peacocks Tearoom. I ordered the Earl Grey tea and it was lovely, it was a loose tea that we could pour ourselves and it was a lovely break from the cold wintery weather. It is very popular here so if you're wanting a seat, come here early.

If you ever are around Ely, you must come to Peacocks Tearoom. A great place to enjoy a traditional English tea, surrounded by beautiful views of the Maltings. They offer a big selection of tea and the cakes are delicious! I love the lavender and polenta cake... The decoration, atmosphere, and friendly service make this place a must to visit with friends or family.

We visited as a family group of six adults. We had a mixture of cheese scones, fruit scones and tea cakes. All were excellent - lovely light scones in particular. It is ver quaint inside, using lovely China. Amazing menu if different teas. Also a great menu of other things to eat.

Well the tea room is beautifully situated and has a lovely atmosphere. The waitresses were pleasing and professional. Our cup of tea was lovely. However on a busy day we waited and waited for our toasties and when they arrived I can only say they were disappointing for £17.

After planning some food elsewhere we decided actually we always enjoy it here so changed our plans to come to Peacocks. There was plenty of seating available and very attentive staff and delicious food. Thank-you for a lovely visit

I am reluctant to review this wonderful tearoom as I would rather like to keep it a secret. What a gem, a real tearoom, with wonderful food and great service. Very attractive inside and with an equally lovely garden. You may have to queue to get in but it is well worth the wait. Parking available nearby. An amazing find. Can't wait to go again.

Greeted by very friendly accommodating gentleman, the manager, who was able to find us a table indoors, during a busy time on a Saturday, and offered assistance to one of our party who is disabled. Very quaint decor, prompt super efficient polite service from two other young staff despite being very busy A wow !selection of leaf tea on offer, served exactly as it should be. Lunch specials also served, all reasonably priced. Definitely recommend you visit it would be a shame not to when in Ely.Wheelchair accessibility: Manager offered us thelp us to get a small mobility scooter over the small step on entry, and was seating us close to the entry door,, the member in our party is able to walk the short distance and we were able to park the scooter just outside the door but inside the garden safely in a designated space, he also offered assistance to the person to help them walk in, much appreciated !

Overall good first experience of English afternoon tea. The whole setup was very sweet. However, as suspected, the cake was too sweet, and sandwich was too salty, which was probably my personal preference. Tea and the scone were great.

Really popular tearoom with a wait to get a table but that’s because they don’t cram everyone in. Loads of tables and a choice of indoor and outdoor seating - we sat in the rear garden which was beautiful. Pleasantly surprised by the pricing - 3 cakes and two drinks for under £20. Carrot cake was best of our 3 cake stops in Ely. Tried the chocolate scone, not to our taste, but nice all the same. Cheese scone delicious. Relax, too relaxed at times as we did wait a while for our cakes after the drinks arrived but better that than being rushed in and out. Friendly polite staff. Recommended

As well as being a magnificently atmospheric and tasty tearoom, Peacocks has a double room/apartment where you can B&B stay above the tea 'action'. It has an equally attractive antiquey feel, with a large lounge, wonderful bedroom and delightful ensuite bathroom, all really well equipped. The breakfast was classy. Our host was engaging and informative. And you have the added pleasure of overlooking the Great Ouse river! Not cheap, but worth every penny!
