We have been customers for over 20 years and we've never been disappointed. Highly recommended. Allow 15 minutes or so for your meal to be prepared because everything is cooked to order and it's a very popular chip shop. Well worth the wait!

8 Main St, Littleport, ElyWe booked a week in advance for a table at 6pm. I was told that 6pm was busy so could I come at 6:30. I explained we had a show to get to by 7:30 so I declined. I was then offered 6pm. On the day we arrived at 5:50pm had to wait 20 minutes for a coffee and wine. After 50 minutes the starter had not arrived, the waiter went to the kitchen to see how our meal was coming along, 10 minutes later the waiter had not answered the question. I decided we did not have enough time so asked to pay for the drinks. The owner/cook then decided to come and talk us. I explained when booking I had to leave by 7:20pm and reminded her about the conversation whilst booking. At this she started shouting at me that it wasn't a fast food place and I should have let her know. I couldn't be bothered to argue and asked to pay the bill. She advised me the starters were nearly ready and I could take them away, to which I agreed (to be reasonable). On opening the starter there was only one, not two, the menu described the dish as being baked. What I was given was clearly deep fried, dripping with oil and very hard and crunchy. The resteraunt was very small and we were crammed in by the entrance with a shelf from the bar overhanging my shoulder. The bar area looked like it needed a good clean.

Akter the host was very pleasant & helpful, offered us the full menu or the lunchtime specials, which consisted of a choice of starters, main courses with either a naan bread or pilau rice plus either wine, lager or a soft drink, all for £14.95, outstanding value.
The food was really good, beyond expectations, great depth of flavour & I had one of the best naan's I've ever had, I practically lived on them in India.
Just surprised how quiet the restaurant was?
Will definitely return for an evening to try some items off the full menu.

The Venue

The food is always cooked just the way I like it and in big or large portions if you ever visit Soham you cannot miss it as it is close to the town monument on the high street.

69 Newnham St, ElyYou couldn't imagine a more welcoming, friendly reception from the moment we arrived until we left. Rachel was our perfect hostess, with her partner, Leon, the Head Chef.
A Carvery is rare these days — especially on a Monday when so few pubs are open, let alone serving good food. The variety of roasts and selection of vegetables, all beautifully cooked, was astonishing.
In addition, our Norfolk terrier was given the warmest of welcomes — and spoiled rotten by every member of staff. Rachel even offered to take care of her while we selected our roast so that we could go up together. Then there were the non-stop treats and a bowl of water — all without having to ask.
That’s what I call not just service excellence but going well above and beyond traditional hospitality. It’s the standard by which all should be judged.
A huge thank you, Rachel, Leon, and your lovely staff, for a truly memorable experience. We’ll be back on our next visit to The Broads.

There are so many options for places to sit and watch football and the staff were accommodating when we wanted to watch a different game and apologised that they couldn't also change the sound. Lots of tables and not crowded. We actually ended up going back for another drink and I decided to go for apple crumble and custard as a dessert. It came quickly, was reasonably priced, and nice and hot.

15 High St, ElyDo you know about the upstairs private cinema hire??! No nor did I a couple of weeks ago!
But my wife and I hired it for her birthday, along with about twenty mates, and had a fantastic time watching The Goonies.
The restaurant included popcorn and squash with the room hire, allowed us to take our time getting drinks downstairs and socialising before and after the film, and were generally friendly and welcoming.
We've all agreed we're looking forward to clubbing together and choosing more films from their extensive list of family friendly and cult classics.
Highly recommend!

There is no television, no music, and such is the clientele you don't have to worry about people playing loud videos on their phones. It's one of the few outlets you won't feel like an eccentric to be seen with a newspaper. A pub like this should be cherished.

They do gluten free bread so can make some of their grilled sandwiches gf, they also do gf scones and some cakes too.
Really lovely, perhaps very slightly overpriced cake and hot chocolate. But the tea is spot on.

Sunday roasts have been amazing during numerous visits, having a carvery is fantastic and rare to find in the area. To summarise I’d recommend everyone visits this venue wether it be for food or beer, fantastic!

Couldn't have asked for better service, the lady serving us was bubbly and really attentive.
Food was absolutely brilliant. The prices seem a bit high, until the food comes out, then it is totally worth it.
Beef rib was huge compared for what we've been served in other places. Pork ribs were melt off the bone.
All 5 people enjoyed their main meals and desserts (would like more dairy free options for dessert)

The menu had a great variety, so there’s something for everyone, and the sides were just as good as the mains — especially the loaded fries, which were tasty and full of flavours. The staff were friendly, making the whole experience even better.
If you’re looking for a spot that delivers on taste, quality, I’d definitely recommend Sabro. I’ll definitely be coming back!

We prefer to use independent businesses, so had a walk up and down the high street before deciding the Ely Grazing Company looked inviting and had a decent lunch menu.
I went for the Hereward bagel with side salad and crisps and a mocha. Delicious and satisfying!
My whole family enjoyed our lunch here, and loved the cosy vibe of this hidden treasure.
We will absolutely visit again next time we are in the area.

W End, ElyConveniently just down the road from my Air BnB. A great pub with a good selection of well tended real ales. Deceptively large, almost tardis like so. There was a music session going on in one of the front rooms when I arrived, which was pretty packed.
Headed out to the fairsized beer garden at the side.
Locals were chatty and friendly. Headed off into town, but made sure I had time for a return visit on the way back

THIS place BLEW my expectations - who knew going to a family owned pub outside of London could be so fun and entertaining. Me and my 3 mates all in our young 20s absolutely flipping loved this place. The warmth of the staff was so welcoming, especially from a lovely young woman called Macy was honestly so hospitable and kind. The atmosphere inside the pub is also great with lots of friendly people and a great pool table ( which was slightly rigged to make me lose to my mates :( ) Haha!

Stuntney, Estate, ELYWe visited on a Saturday lunchtime in October. The restaurant was busy but there was no feeling of any rush. The staff were fabulous, warm and professional. The decor was tasteful yet modern and added to the general ambience. Despite the room being busy the noise level was ideal for conversation. We all had a different type of Flammenkuche and could quite easily have shared them. They were delicious and so obviously freshly prepared and cooked. We finished with a sticky toffee pudding, this time to share, and it is really clear that the pastry chef knows what they are doing.
This is brilliant restaurant with food and customer experience at its heart.
We will be back, without a doubt.

2, 11 High Street, ElyI visited Caffe Nero Ely for the first time and was not disappointed. I ordered an orange hot chocolate which is one of the seasonal drinks offered over the Christmas period. The hot chocolate was delicious with a classic, rich chocolaty taste accompanied by an orange flavour, the drink was also served with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. All staff members were extremely polite, friendly and professional, especially Lily who offered to watch my bags for me while I used the toilet. I would defiantly recommend getting the Caffe Nero app which offers great rewards and deals such as free drinks and student discounts. The Caffe also has a range of comfortable seating options suited to every size group or individual. The menu is extensive and includes options suitable for a range of diets and preferences including vegetarian and dairy free options, I will defiantly be returning!!

The fish was crispy and fresh, the chicken was cooked perfectly, and the cheesy chips with curry sauce were full of flavor. I usually order from other restaurants, but this time I tried here, and I’m so glad I did.
Not only was the food great, but the people behind the kitchen were really kind and genuine — good staff who clearly care about what they serve. I’ll definitely be ordering again!

Haven't ordered their pizza though. Good portion sizes. Slight inconvenience as they don't take card payments.

3, ElyAnother fenland McDonald’s ticked off the list and another breakfast. Warm,tasty,fast service nothing to complain about. Mixed it up with a double sausage McMuffin with extra sausage patty extra egg and bacon. It was that big it came in a Big Mac box! A proper handful and very filling . Hash browns hot fresh and nice and crispy. Partner had a sausage sandwich and that was good too. McDonald’s coffee as good as ever.

27 High St, ElySuch a welcoming and friendly atmosphere with lovely food and drink at reasonable prices. We have started visiting regularly when out with our daughter who has severe learning difficulties. She loves the hot chocolate, cakes and toasted sandwiches (when she’s allowed to have them). Took our friends from Yorkshire today as well, they loved the cheese scones. Highly recommended!

Ely Leisure Village, Downham Rd, ElyCame for a meet up with friends before Christmas. It was busy but very well organised. We booked a table in advance.
Couldn't have asked for better service, the lady serving us was bubbly and really attentive.
Food was absolutely brilliant. The prices seem a bit high, until the food comes out, then it is totally worth it.
Beef rib was huge compared for what we've been served in other places. Pork ribs were melt off the bone.
All 5 people enjoyed their main meals and desserts (would like more dairy free options for dessert)

1 Churchgate St, Soham, ElyI have tried this place for the first time today and I was seriously impressed! The burgers were packed with flavour, cooked perfectly, and tasted really fresh and the portions were generous too.
The menu had a great variety, so there’s something for everyone, and the sides were just as good as the mains — especially the loaded fries, which were tasty and full of flavours. The staff were friendly, making the whole experience even better.
If you’re looking for a spot that delivers on taste, quality, I’d definitely recommend Sabro. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Ely Grazing Company
2-3 Buttermarket, ElyWe arrived in Ely at lunchtime, starving, and needing to eat before our walk.
We prefer to use independent businesses, so had a walk up and down the high street before deciding the Ely Grazing Company looked inviting and had a decent lunch menu.
I went for the Hereward bagel with side salad and crisps and a mocha. Delicious and satisfying!
My whole family enjoyed our lunch here, and loved the cosy vibe of this hidden treasure.
We will absolutely visit again next time we are in the area.

21 Broad St, ElyUnbeatable, freshly cooked traditional fish and chips. The best in Cambridgeshire! Very friendly, hard working staff. We have been customers for over 20 years and we've never been disappointed. Highly recommended. Allow 15 minutes or so for your meal to be prepared because everything is cooked to order and it's a very popular chip shop. Well worth the wait!

8 Main St, Littleport, ElyWe booked a week in advance for a table at 6pm. I was told that 6pm was busy so could I come at 6:30. I explained we had a show to get to by 7:30 so I declined. I was then offered 6pm. On the day we arrived at 5:50pm had to wait 20 minutes for a coffee and wine. After 50 minutes the starter had not arrived, the waiter went to the kitchen to see how our meal was coming along, 10 minutes later the waiter had not answered the question. I decided we did not have enough time so asked to pay for the drinks. The owner/cook then decided to come and talk us. I explained when booking I had to leave by 7:20pm and reminded her about the conversation whilst booking. At this she started shouting at me that it wasn't a fast food place and I should have let her know. I couldn't be bothered to argue and asked to pay the bill. She advised me the starters were nearly ready and I could take them away, to which I agreed (to be reasonable). On opening the starter there was only one, not two, the menu described the dish as being baked. What I was given was clearly deep fried, dripping with oil and very hard and crunchy. The resteraunt was very small and we were crammed in by the entrance with a shelf from the bar overhanging my shoulder. The bar area looked like it needed a good clean.

W End, ElyConveniently just down the road from my Air BnB. A great pub with a good selection of well tended real ales. Deceptively large, almost tardis like so. There was a music session going on in one of the front rooms when I arrived, which was pretty packed.
Headed out to the fairsized beer garden at the side.
Locals were chatty and friendly. Headed off into town, but made sure I had time for a return visit on the way back

11 Sun St, Isleham, ElyHonestly was just driving by to go camping with my mates and we thought we would set off on a little pub crawl. THIS place BLEW my expectations - who knew going to a family owned pub outside of London could be so fun and entertaining. Me and my 3 mates all in our young 20s absolutely flipping loved this place. The warmth of the staff was so welcoming, especially from a lovely young woman called Macy was honestly so hospitable and kind. The atmosphere inside the pub is also great with lots of friendly people and a great pool table ( which was slightly rigged to make me lose to my mates :( ) Haha!
Hats off to you all!

Akter the host was very pleasant & helpful, offered us the full menu or the lunchtime specials, which consisted of a choice of starters, main courses with either a naan bread or pilau rice plus either wine, lager or a soft drink, all for £14.95, outstanding value.
The food was really good, beyond expectations, great depth of flavour & I had one of the best naan's I've ever had, I practically lived on them in India.
Just surprised how quiet the restaurant was?
Will definitely return for an evening to try some items off the full menu.

I cooked my own rice at home as times are tight. The fact they do banana and pineapple fritters is wonderful! But a lot of money for one banana cut up. Worth it for occasional nostalgia.
