Disappointing return on mothers day since we had a good evening on valentine's. We had to preorder the food from a set menu which is different from the menu you see on the day which is disappointing as there are more choices now. The starter took 45 mins to arrive and another 45 minutes for the mains to arrive, while another larger table that arrived later got their mains first. When the mains did arrive(4 roast) dinners all of them were undercooked, portion sizes were disappointing compared to what was served at valentine's. The bill was also incorrect as they tried to charge an extra three 3 course meal on us.Definitely felt like our table were forgotten about. Staff were very nice and apologetic (otherwise this would have been a one star review), but did admit that they were overbooked and overwhelmed, so management needs to get their act together.

We went with friends on Sunday for lunch this was our first visit and certainly won't be the last, this is a hidden gem, the food was excellent and the staff very friendly and welcoming, we highly recommend it, already looking forward to our next visit.

Disappointing Christmas Day Meal (didn’t stay there so can’t comment on rooms but pub area looked nice). Menu not as advertised, only 4 courses, not the advertised 5. Prawns & crayfish were tiny & tasteless. The vegetables were not fresh. The turkey leg was not a leg. The cauliflower cheese was nice but appeared rationed. The ‘sorbet & gelato’ dessert option which suggests something a little fancy, came in strawberry, chocolate or vanilla and even then we were given the wrong flavour and it was half melted. Christmas pud was a thin slice barely bigger than a credit card. Cheesecake was good as were the roast potatoes and the stuffing but overall not worth £80. The service was neither Christmassy nor particularly efficient but can’t blame the young girls for that, that’s a management/training issue. To be fair, this was the only localish place with a table by the time we got round to booking, and they were advertising tables a couple of days before so I should have taken the hint. I have had some great Christmas Day meals for cheaper (Toby Carvery) and for more expensive (Cambs Cuisine restaurants) and like to support local businesses but this wasn’t great. I did comment at the time and was told my comments would be passed on. They either weren’t or management don’t care. Having seen someone else post a similar experience on the restaurant’s Facebook page, where to be fair, there are some great reviews, I added a comment but both negative comments have disappeared despite someone suggesting that management are good when things go wrong. Things don’t always go right and you can’t please everyone but how the follow up is handled says a lot and in this case, the follow up, or lack thereof, just added to the overall poor experience. Next year, I shall book earlier.

Absolute nightmare and hour for starters..that were over cooked and awful. Mains we couldn't eat..felt sorry for the waiteriss's that kept apologising. Dreadful fool and empty restaurante..on a Saturday evening. Sadly worst meal we have had..I should have listened to other people who have eaten there!

We held our Wedding reception at the Little Downham Anchor and what a wonderful time we had, we were so happy with the service from John and all of his team from the initial contact to the end if the celebrations the food and attention to detail were second to none, both myself the groom and all of our guests had a fabulous time and before they left we’re planning a return visit! I would definitely recommend them for a drink and a meal to a full blown celebration thank you so much for making our day even more special

Excellent staff, so welcoming and helpful. A guy (sorry I didn't get any names) arranged early check-in for me on Friday, another guy running the bar on Friday evening made sure I got dinner (very good fish and chips), and the lady looking after breakfast on Saturday morning was super helpful. Room was fine, as expected really, but the staff went above and beyond to be helpful and friendly. Thank you.

Bed Bugs in Room 2. When reported. This was the response I got below. Pathetic. Since I can't reply on to your booking.com comment. I will reply on here with the evidence. "We are concerned with your response, and having stayed more than 1 night, that you have not mentioned to us any issues, however we take all incidents seriously, we have checked the room for issues, using an ultra violet and we cannot concur with your alleged findings. equally your results do not concur with the general reviews in question, how your comment will effect staff, comfort, facilaties, value for money when are reviews are in the high sector". Here is your evidence. Appalled by your casual response and lack of integrity. Check your records. I have stayed at the hotel a number of times for business trips
