The food service ambiance our lovely booth was all absolutely fabulous. Can’t wait to go

The best place for Sunday lunch. My only regret? That I ate all of the perfectly steamed vegetables thus leaving very little room for the sublime roast potatoes. The free range pork was tender and very tasty, served with gravy whose silkiness was matched only by that of the cheese sauce accompanying the cauliflower! Serious food, seriously good food.

In addition to fun monk art, the beer and food were fantastic. The McMonk burger is brisket and beef with crispy onions and thick bacon, and the “chips” are fried in goose fat (vs olive oil) - washed down with an Adnams “Ghost Ship”. ?#merrymonk #isleham #england #adnams

I was so excited to visit yesterday for lunch after seeing all the glowing reviews but was sadly disappointed. It’s a bit of a deception that the Michelin guide 2018 plaque was on the wall because the food served yesterday was really sub-par. The menu was boring and there were lots of battered items. We had their fish & chips which cost £20, something I can’t justify, I mean their peas weren’t even mushy - it was literally dry fibre. We also had their fish pie which tasted like it was pre cooked but then left to dry out and then reheated so the mash on top was just sitting on a pool of liquid and overcooked fish and prawns. We also tried their pork belly starter which was delicious but there was only a measly strip of meat served up with a battered soft boiled egg and toast. There was more toast than meat. Overall the meal was just too greasy, overpriced for the standard of food, the place smelled like grease and looked tired and in need of a major spruce up and redecorating.Sad to say that I will definitely not return nor recommend to others!

I’ll start by saying how lovely the food is at this pub - no complaints with the actual food however price and service isn’t so good. This is an expensive village pub - we were shocked by the cost of drinks especially! The online menu prices are not the actual prices on the pub menu. The staff aren’t overly friendly and didn’t know some answers to questions around the menu. We also didn’t spot the added £22 service charge on the end of the bill (I know lots of places do this now) but I just feel this is a bit too much. Especially as I questioned the price of the drinks. I wouldn’t visit this place again based on the above - a shame considering we’re close by!

The best meal I’ve eaten out in a very long time. Top marks to the chefs for creating delicious and beautiful dishes. The desserts were works of art. Lovely service from start to finish. Highly recommend this if you enjoy good food.A little pricey for lunch but it was clear we were being fed with high quality ingredients.Highly recommend.Kid-friendliness: Very welcoming to my young daughter and accommodating of her food preferences.

What a great pub! Superb Sunday roast- couldn’t fault it. Big portions, meat cooked perfectly. Tasty vegetables including the best cauliflower cheese ever. Delicious and unique puddings including lemon meringue pie trifle. Great service from the friendly and knowledgeable chef/owner. Will definitely be back!

The Merry Monk is wonderful. The food is really quite special, particularly the treacle bread. We have had many wonderful meals there and look forward to returning soon.

Had a lovely meal here served by the lovely owner. The food was delicious and they were very accommodating. Had a plat de jour for those who can’t eat too much, and it was lovely…..roast loin of pork that was beautifully cooked. The husband had hake with mussels and loved it. Both came with veg….a decent amount. Really nice place and if it wasn so far from home, we’d certainly be going again.
