We have been to this restaurant 3 times now and it is still as good as ever although several years apart, as we do not live in the area.We rang at short notice on a Saturday evening and they managed to fit us in, much to our surprise! Cannot believe it wasn't packed out, so were a little wary.The tables were laid impeccably with thick serviettes/glasses /cutlery etc.The young lady who served us was lovely and a credit to the place.We both ordered crusty bread with oil and balsamic vinegar, lovely hot crusty bread to die for.then steak and ale pie, veg.chips. and were brought a gravy boat with extra gravy.Everything was fresh.hot and so tasty.the chef certainly knows what they are doing! Wonderful tasty experience from start to finish! Cant wait till our next visit.

I've had a burger there not too long time ago. First of all the size and the fillings are pretty bad. Second of all it's cost me £15 without a drink. I wouldn't mind to pay out that much if it is a reasonable price. This one wasn't at all. Sorry but 4 months ago i had a nice lunch there and i had the same for a better price and better quality. Dont know what happened since, but this is a downhill what we see here.

We went for a roast after looking for a place to go. The staff we’re nice. We received our roast beef and pork and wow! The beef was reminiscent of boot leather as was the pork. The cauliflower was watery and over cooked, the carrots were peeled and cut into huge inedible rounds which were like mush they were so over cooked, the cabbage was the same. Watery gravy and soggy roast potatoes. The Yorkshire was the only thing in the plate that was nice. What a disappointment. Never again! Don’t waste your money it was worse than a school dinner roast!
Regarding the latest review, I would like take this opportunity to remind people that they may need to be more inclusive in their thoughts prior to making comments. The one armed chair allows me accessibility from my wheelchair to sit in a normal environment and enjoy a few beers with my local friends. The landlord and his staff has been 100% in helping me through these difficult times/situation.Food & drinks: Fabulous

Had lunch here with a friend 27/6/23....The food was very basic, Tuesday offer, rump steak and chips.Presentation was very poor, nothing to make the food look appetising, no greenery just frozen chips and steak.Furniture needs desperate updating as does the whole pub, shabby and dingy. Table rickerty and wobbly. Most were packed out with beer mats. I had to swap a chair with only one arm, obviously broken and dangerous. Why would you still have a broken chair in a pub.The whole atmosphere was dark and dingyAnd the car parking and entrance to it is bad also...We will not be going again,better places locally...

A corner table in the conservatory section, and a full Sunday lunch roast - vegetables were served family style so each person could serve themselves - a great idea! Cheerful, attentive wait staff, and the sun came out! Most enjoyable.
