Disappointed with the dinner we had here in May. Firstly serving flat champagne is inexcusable under any circumstances but at £14.50 a glass that's just insulting. Service was inattentive and by 9pm the staff seemed to have all disappeared. We finally managed to get our bill and collect our own coats from the cloakroom. All this aside, the god awful neon advertising blasting at you from directly outside the restaurant Windows is a real mood killer. As it gets dark, this lighting really creates a very unpleasant ambiance. If you want a sophisticated or romantic dinner, sadly this place is definitely not a place I could recommend.Update 21 January 2023.As the restaurant invited me to contact them about the bad experience we had, I did so. I waited patiently to hear back from them but never got a reply. Subsequently it transpires that they have shut down and are no longer operating. Well, I suppose with our experience in mind , I can't say I'm surprised. There's plenty of excellent restaurants in Chester and this one won't be missed.

A Sunday Lunch in the build up to Xmas.. and what a meal it was.. my party of seven was served with a myriad of choices of quality tasty food.Three courses at a very reasonable price.Sensible priced wine choices.Restaurant staff were exceptional.. attired in crisp black and white uniform.. they were attentive but not intrusive.. just right.1539 has definitely returned to the premier venue in Chester for a fine dining experience at a very affordable price.Can't wait for our next visit in the New Year 2023.Well done all.Parking: Free on site.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options available.

Great place, we had a family birthday meal here. The staff were very attentive, nothing was to much. The head of house even got my 14 year old son a totally different starter, that wasn't on our menu, without any if us knowing. The bar staff were great and very knowledgeable and very helpful. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Have just returned from celebrating my mother in laws 80th and we have had such a lovely evening…everything was perfect from start to finish and Lewis our waiter was superb a credit to your restaurant…he could not have been anyone attentive, he was so much fun and nothing was too much trouble at all!Food was amazing and the setting could not have been better for our table of 13 aged from 11 to 80! Thank you for such a lovely evening!
Booked a table four months ago and turned up only to discover that our table had been gazumped by a private party.Host then claimed that they’d tried “many, many” times to contact me but I’d received no calls, nor voicemails, no emails.Had been looking forward to this meal and had been turned away. Then received an official “your booking has been cancelled” email which felt like a real punch in the gut.Really disappointed to be treated this way.Not what I expected from a venue of this reputation.Getting one star because I can’t leave a no-star review.

Would 100% recommend. Absolutely beautiful food. Cocktails were gorgeous and amazing selection of drinks. Staff are a credit to the restaurant and are so helpful/ friendly. Service was fast.

Absolutely phenomenal. The meat was cooked perfectly and every flavour was so rich, but not overwhelming in any way. The cocktails were delicious as we're the wines. The staff were lovely as well! This is the second time we've visited, and we'll definitely be back for thirds.
