we were visiting Chester and stumbled upon Shrub completely by chance and so glad we did. We had bob our very old dog with us and we sat in the bar area which is dog friendly (and also the outside bit is too)and were made to feel very welcome by the 2 male staff members. The food was plant based, innovative and very tasty.I particularly remember the artichoke wings being a bit of a new taste sensation and also the frickles. It was all good though, delicious in fact.Food great, service great and dog friendly, try it if you're in Chester, highly recommended. Chester is lovely too and although I didn't get a picture of the food we ate in Shrub, I did get one of bob the dog striking a pose in the Roman Gardens.Vegetarian options: plant based menu

Having eaten at a fair few vegan restaurants, I feel like I have a good basis for comparison and can confidently say that the burger I had at Shrub has been the best so far. I went to Shrub and had their vegan roast, which is to die for! I would eat it every day if I could! Also I have visited a few times recently and been served by Anna every time. She is so friendly and smiley! It makes the experience so lovely :)

The service was exceptional especially Tim who took the time to explain everything and gave some fab recommendations!
