Carvery advertised from 11:30am. So, I made a special visit. Got there at 11:30am and it was hard to find any staff. Finally, I found a young lady hid at the very end of the bar. It took a while for her to ask if she could help. I asked for a drink and a Carvery. To be told food doesn't start until mid. Day. No smile, no nothing. Disappointed I asked for a drink as I had to he somewhere at 12:15 so had little time. The drink was served and the lady had as much compassion as a dead kipper. Won't be back.

Enjoyed our first visit here. Staff were lovely and helpful. Carvery was hot and fresh and cake for pudding was delicious. Will visit again.

Christmas Dinner was dry especially the roast potatoes which had to have gravy poured over them to stop them getting any drier and harder than they already were. Atmosphere was bland, no Christmas music, just staff that looked bored but too uninterested in clearing our table, that after 20 mins we had to pull them up. No it wasn't particularly busy so definitely not rushed off their feet. Had to chase up dessert as well. By the end just wanted to go home. Very disappointed and spoilt my Christmas. The ONLY thing I can give them credit for is that they do lovely slices of cake to eat in or preferably take away.

We visited Christmas eve to meet with family booked on line. Only to be told on arrival we had 15 mins to order Inc dessert. Tables were then being dressed around us and we felt like we're being hurried and in the way. Food was a good quality as were drinks. Maybe next time advise of last order times at booking.

my husband and myself spent nearly £900 on Christmas dinner 2023 for 15 people (inclusive of 4 tiny children ). We waited for a while before the drinks order was placed but the place was packed so we accepted that. We had to ask for starters to be brought and although there was a mix up, we accepted that too. After a while, we had to ask if we could go to the carvery to get our meals as no one serving mentioned it so 50 minutes later we started to get up to get our meals. Admittedly, the dinner was lovely and so after we had all finished our meal, we waited, and waited, and WAITED, for the dessert. At least 3 people from our party went and asked when it would arrive, and was told that someone would be along to take our orders shortly. So we waited, and waited again for just short of an hour before some of our party couldn't wait any longer and chose to leave because of the children. At this time,my husband, who is on oxegen 24/7. checked his oxegen and it was running low. This was the second bottle that he'd used (we took 2 bottles with us which should have been quite sufficient for a starter, main and dessert.) Eventually we were all so fed up with the service, myself and my husband had to leave because of his health, we asked to have our desserts in boxes to take home. We had to miss out on the mince pies and coffee, (apparently the coffee machine was out of order). All in all, although the main was fine, the whole time that we were there, it was nothing more than a shambles. We didn't know who was serving on our table as .we had to stop anyone serving and ask what and when we were going to be served. I feel that a refund should be made towards some of the meal, especially as my husband and myself paid over £900 with the drinks order. We paid the price in good faith expecting a great service that we never had.Parking: not enough disabled places.

Had breakfast here on Christmas eve. The back bacon was unrecognisable not a rasher in sight just small mushed up bits stuck together. Sausages were less than average quality. Disappointing start to Christmas but luckily the day improved when we left. The staff were cheerful and

Lady serving was polite and professional but no eggs Benedict and no Avocado so forced to get buffet breakfast. Beans and tomatoes were acceptable and the sausage was borderline but the bacon, mushrooms, black pudding and eggs were rough as toast… well not in this case as the toast was soggy somehow with out the application of butter. Also ended up with plastic stuck in my teeth.

Disappointed that the cheese and onion pie has changed. It's not a patch on the old one (please bring back the old one, it was divine!). The new one is nothing special. The rest of the food was good though, atmosphere was good too. Speedy service despite it being very busy when we were there. One thing I will say though is that our waitress was a bit too fond of using overly affectionate language which just feels a bit awkward and patronising but she was friendly enough and that's my only complaint with her really. I was there for my birthday and she made the effort to wish me a happy birthday which was nice. I do love this pub, so much so I chose to travel from where I now live (Willenhall in the west midlands) especially to have my birthday meal here. Overall a pleasant meal but gutted the pie has been changed which I was really looking forward to! (I know I need to get a lift ??)

Carvery was good plenty to choose from the serve your self counter. Set meals are average at best. Place is clean and tidy, good for the children big play area for them to run riot.

Food was decent, Steak and ale pie was delicious, had jam and coconut sponge with custard for dessert, portion was big enough for two.Service could be better, asked for mustard and was told they didn't have any. Found out after that the carvery has mustard. Staff member didn't tell me or offer to get me some.

Went for a carvery with family. We all enjoyed our meals. No queue when we went in but quite a queue behind us until another lady started serving at the tills. Prices are ok. One of us didn't want a carvery and opted for gammon and chips and no complaints there iether. Expensive for drinks though, 5 drinks £15.40, only one was alcohol and that was a larger. Cakes, well enough to choose from, very big portions.look delicious, Personally for the price of them I found them disappointing. Very sweet and artificial cream. Service was quite good, tables/cutlery/toilets nice and clean. Pleasant enough.

Today, we visited rookery wood with my son.We were met by the lovely Lauren, I must say this has been the best SEN friendly and accommodating service provided by Lauren . Lauren was professional, understanding, friendly and accommodating. Our son had an emotional outburst due to his autism and Lauren was on hand to help if needed, offered if anything she could do and was understanding. (I must note there not many people in hospitality who have the care and compassion that Lauren had today) we left the venue with a huge smile on our faces and amazed that someone actually cared, helped and was understanding .Lauren is a credit to this venue and I cannot thank Lauren enough, you are doing an amazing job and well done, you should be very proud .Kid-friendliness: Extremely accommodating staff member Lauren.
