We took my mum and dad for Sunday dinner on new year eve, the land lady was very accomodating and couldn't help enough. Me and my wife had the squid starter and the black pudding starter, they were very nice and a great start to the meal. We had the burger and it was great, my parents had the pork Sunday dinner, they said it was delicious and to be fair it looked great as well. If your in the area, I can't recommend the place enough

Kerry and Pete are pulling out all the stops ! Good food ,reasonably priced with the option of smaller appetite 3 course menu! Little things like scented candles in the loo plus a selection of sanitary needs for women. Very impressed ?

Just spent the best part of 2hrs chatting, laughing, eating and drinking at this pub. We booked for an evening meal on line which regrettably did not go through, however Kerry (new owner) was amazing in that she advised the chef was still on site and that she would be happy to take our order no trouble at all. Well the Sunday roast beef did not disappoint neither did the roast ham it was absolutely delicious and hot, compliments to the chef. We then sat and chatted and laughed with Kerry, Pete & Ian (regular). To say that the customer service was good is some what of an understatement it was brilliant. Will we go back........yeah definitely. Both Kerry and Pete go out of their way to make you feel welcome and take time out of their busy job to sit and chat brilliant just brilliant. Amazing couple, best of luck with your new venture in the pub business if our experience tonight is anything to go by then you will do very well xx

We paid our second visit to this lovely pub yesterday. We first visited a week ago as in the area working, and called in for just drinks. We were made so welcome by Kerry and Pete, and found out about Thursday night pie night. The pie and drink for £15 is really good value. I decided on ham and leek, it was delicious... loads of tender meat, and really nice mash and pastry too. My partner ordered steak and ale, and obviously I tried some of that too... very tasty, great job chef! The beer is good, with a nice selection and we also shared a cheeseboard and port... just lovely. We will be back for a Friday fish supper next week!

New owners who more than deserve a success on their hands. Friendly, welcoming and serve a good cask ale. Tried the food on a special night and it was spot on. Give the place a try there's no misery here now.

I loved ❤️ The Red Lion at Lower Withington. A warm welcome, clean and superb, varied menu. An excellent selection of craft beers, ciders and spirits. We had the hot sandwich - beef and onion, perfectly cooked, pleasantly presented, great value for money. We will be coming back, since we found tge place fresh and enjoyable. A visit to The Red Lion made our Jodrell Bank trip more of an occasion. Do you do music events and tributes? Or a quiz night?

Friendly new owners but the change of seating does not work at all. Noone wants to have their back to the bar, a corridor or the door. Please put them back where they were! And have some windows open for some air flow, we're coming into covid territory again so please please consider the risks

We tried The Red Lion after seeing the menu online. Lunchtime was light bites and sandwiches, salads. We had the fish finger butty and a Caesar salad, both very tasty. The new owners had only just taken over and were delightful - so friendly. It was their first weekend and we wish them well in their lovely quiet spot of Lower Withington.

The pub was very quiet at lunchtime. Nonetheless I had good food at a reasonable price. The menu is typically pub grub but as long as its good quality, hot in a pleasant atmosphere I’m happy.

This is a lovely pub ruined by the welcome that comes from behind the bar upon entering. We were made to feel very self-conscious that we weren’t from the immediate vicinity and were only staying at the local campsite I’m no expert, but given the amount of people that were in there on Friday night, I would say the 50% of people were from the same campsite so this chap better not bite the hand that feeds him and be more welcoming to all. Everything else was fantastic.

The owner needs to retire or change. He does not go that extra mile for anyone that comes to the bar and asks for a coffee such as a skinny Latte His reply to a customer was “ you get what comes out of the machine” not very helpful. Also the food is just average . Well presented but tasteless. Heavy sauces and dry thick pastry. It does not represent good value for money if the taste is so poor. This pub needs new life breathing into it. For its position and location it should be full to capacity for a drinks and dining experiences. Very grumpy bar tender who needs to go away on a customer training course.
