We had a lovely evening, 3 courses and a great price. Prawn skagen (a Scandi take on prawn cocktail if you will) was absolutely delicious, light but satisfying.the mains of meatballs (a classic, and way beyond ikea…) and a burger with pickles and scandi accompaniments were delicious. A burger that wasn’t overly heavy, but a joy to finish. We even had beautiful desserts with seasonal ingredients. Everything here is homemade, obviously with care and attention. The front of house lady was amazing, helpful and polite. We felt very comfortable and will be back. Please visit, support this local business, you will not regret it.

Have been to the Salt Bar a few times over the last few years and have always enjoyed it. Went with my daughter for dinner once more and we both had the cod dish served with a butter bean, olive, chorizo stew. The cod was cooked to perfection and the whole dish was delicious. I always have the prawn skegen starter and this too was excellent. Wine to accompany was fine and the service was friendly and efficient. Great local restaurant.

Great service but food not as good as it was , sharing platter , very small portions , you could afford to charge more and make portions bigger and most , bar the smoked mackerel pate and salt beef were bland . Decor great and atmosphere but won’t be coming back , food just average

I invited a number of friends to The Salt Bar to celebrate early retirement. Food was delicious and service very good for such a large group (about 20 of us). Ease of ordering beforehand was appreciated and good range of drinks was available. Highly recommend!

Have lunch here every month. Staff very pleasant and attentive. Menu is limited but food is good. Small interior but a pleasant place for meeting up and it won't cost you a fortune. Sandwiches are a bit different from the norm and are very tasty.Parking: Public car park close by down the slope.

Can’t believe it took us so long to visit this diamond of a restaurant. The menu may be smaller but the flavours are mighty with enough selection to please every palate.We started with Prawn Skagen and the specials Cauli Filo rolls which were both very tasty, I could’ve just eaten a plate of the Cauli rolls!We then had the specials feta & strawberry salad and the spring cabbage leaves. The salad was so light and fresh with delicious strawberries, green beans and feta, very summery. The cabbage leaves filled with quinoa, peas, miso garlic mushrooms on a broad bean mash with maple and soy was just superb. We shared every course and took a rhubarb streusel home for our daughter as it was GF. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Macclesfield. Thank you Jo for a wonderful meal, we will be back!
We had an excellent meal from the set menu and really enjoyed our food and the drinks. The restaurant has a lovely, simple and clean décor. The staff are helpful, polite and friendly. The food was delicious, especially the lemon posset with raspberries, caramelised pecans and homemade shortbread.
