Thank you for the all round service and hospitality. You couldn’t do enough to make it easier to lunch solo, with my dog after a long walk up to Rawhead and back. The Sunday Roast Carvery was delicious and you even made sure my dog was comfortable, too.I also noted how friendly and accommodating you all were with families. I will be back very soon with mine.

I have been a customer for many years, and have had breakfasts, lunch and evening meals there many times. We called 2 weeks ago and the 4 of us had a light lunch, which was mediocre, but took this as a one off. 6 of us called in for lunch today and it was no better. I know the place has changed hands, but it looks like quality and service left with all the old staff.

We visited bickerton poacher today a party of 10 7 meals or ordered we arrived at 12 pm it wasant busy we waited an hour for our meals then a further 40 minutes for desert one a cheese cake which we thought was off we’d ordered a second drink as we’d finished our mains which was brought out over an hour later we asked 3 times for the bill they just said we’re on it over 30 minutes wait the waitress was not friendly or helpful would definitely not recommend here dreadful service

It was my Mum's birthday, we'd gone to a local antique shop and afterward we were looking to have a nice lunch. Closest two places were closed on Mondays, but we found the Bickerton Poacher.Clear and easy to use ramps for those with mobility issues, which was good for my grandmother. The staff were attentive without being annoying. The food was amazing. My mother and uncle are very picky about restaurant meals, the both of them couldn't stop raving about their lasagna and burger. I got the steak and ale pie, crust was incredibly flaky and the pie was chock full of steak. We will absolutely be visiting again.PS - The original stove and well are preserved and interesting to look at. They also have on the wall a deed of transfer from the 18th century for the building. (Which apparently was built in the 17th century.) It was fascinating to read it.

Stayed on the pubs touring site and spent Friday at the Cher Tribute evening, it was a great night. Had the buffet breakfast Saturday And the Sunday Carvery today, the food was lovely & the staff are really friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.

Nice place but a Sunday should be avoided as very busy with grumpy staff who are run off their feet. Went for the carvery which was ok but make sure you watch the cut of meat you're being given.

Eaten at place prior last year , to book for the BB, so stayed here for family wedding in local area at PC, a few niggles over the 3 xs room booked so we were unable to use or access facilities in them till coming back in the evening from the event afterwards. As near main road if light sleeper like me may need ear plugs but all okay good apart from that. Brekfast at weekend is self service but plenty of it and if any vegetarians they do alternatives. (Maybe have the plate warmer on ) owner lovely guy. When at another function will defo stay again.

I came here with my family for food, it was the first time we visited the food was delicious, empty plates all round so we had to order puddings as well.Gavin a new member of staff made us as a family feel so welcome, he was polite, very well mannered and overall couldn’t do enough for us, what a great asset to the pubs team.Thank you Gavin for making our first experience a great one!! We will definitely be back again! Great staff, great place and great food

We called in for lunch today. We started with homemade vegetable soup with a big chunk of warm bread. My partner had the Scampi and chips and I had the sausage and mash, both from the light bites menu. Both of us were stuffed! Good job we didn't order dessert!?It's a lovely place to eat, very characterful. It is also a B & B or a camping and touring caravan stop. It's surrounded by hills and walks, Beeston Castle is about a mile or so away, walk it or drive. There's lots of carpark spaces, but no specific disabled parking we could see. It's an old place so don't expect sliding doors, but it's all ground floor so easily accessible.Nearby activities: Plenty for hikers and walkers.Food & drinks: The food was delicious. Hot and very tasty.

Only had a coffee. But that was great and very reasonable price. Even got a biscuit.
