Turned up for a family wedding. No one to greet guests, no well signed and had to stand at reception and be ignored by staff. We did not stay and had to leave early as spouse unwell. Unfortunately our experience would not prompt a stay.

The only disappointment we had was our evening meal. When we booked the table we were informed that we had to be prompt, their word. We turned up 5 minutes before our booked time so we were 'prompt'. We were met and very nicely greeted and shown to our table, a little while later we ordered some drinks and given a menu. Our drinks arrived and whilst we were ready to order our food the order wasn't taken. After about 30 minutes I asked the waitress if there was a problem, she apologised and said they were short staffed in the kitchen and took our dinner ordered, it was 1 hour 20 minutes after our booked time before our 1st course was brought to the table which I think is pretty poor. The restaurant that evening wasn't particularly busy, there was 9 tables being used with 25 people seated. The waitresses of which there were 3 were very good and one was very apologetic telling me that she had informed her manager that we were unhappy with the service, we never saw the manager which again was poor, you would have thought they would have not only apologised to my wife and I but would have supported the waitress.

Unique location and building. Room looked tired although considering the building it was kind of expected. Excellent service and staff, friendly and attentive. Dining was pleasant with good quality and presentation of food. Onsite Land Rover Experience was amazing.

I booked this trip for a lovely couples weekend away and we were not disappointed.Peckforton castle is set in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by beautiful woodland and scenery. The staff are absolutely wonderful. Sharing the information about the room. Our dinner reservation and breakfast. We sat down in the grounds for drinks, after visiting the lovely wine cellar bar.We enjoyed a magical dinner with a beautiful view100% will be going back.

Great location for a Perfect Wedding.. Enchanting Castle set in Fairytale Surroundings.Beware, many of the rooms have to be accessed by stairs, often many stairs.. breakfast also is accessed by stairs, however there is a fitted stair lift to assist those who need it.Apparently the Castle was purpose built for a family, and what a great job was done.Everything is amazing, the doors to the bedrooms are huge (and quite heavy) the rooms are a good size, with very high ceilings, which in turn means very high curtains (which are heavy and slightly difficult to pull)Large double bed, albeit not the most comfortable in our opinion, we had hoped for a luxurious mattress. Overall it was quite clean, with some dust (as you can imagine in such a large place) and unfortunately we had quite a bit of long hairs and rolled up bits of toilet paper on our bathroom floor, looked like it had been swept to one area but never picked up.We would recommend a stay here especially if you've never stayed in a castle before...We were surprised as to how busy it was, so as well as a constant flow of wedding guests, there is a Land Rover experience within the grounds and people moving around all the time.

We arrived and were greeted by a beautiful castle set in lovely woodlands. Very nice first impression, the castle was well kept from the outside and clean with a nice seating area for drinks.Reception staff were polite and the room was nice, clean albeit slightly small but lovely all the same. The restaurant was beautiful and had clearly earned its 3xAA rosettes. The meal was beautiful, us both having salmon to start, followed by duck and chocolate mousse and carrot cake. My only complaint was that the portions were slightly on the small side, but fabulous all the same. There is a beautiful wine cellar bar which had great ambience. Overall excellent and will be returning.

Attended as guests at a wedding. The whole day was longwinded. SO much wrong with the service - poorly trained and uninterested staff, the food was lukewarm and very sparse. We had to buy takeout on the way home. Drinks were extortionately priced. Beautiful venue but that's it.

We had booked a three night stay, Booked in to be told I had a reservation in the main restaurant for the second and third night. I pointed out that I had emailed them a week beforehand asking for a table on the first night. No problem the receptionist changed the booking. We then went for a drink in the very nice outdoor bar to find people milling around...No barman! He eventually turned up and told us he had been serving drinks at the wedding reception. Came down for dinner after getting ready and went to reception to ask what the form was to be told the restaurant was not opening that night as they had no bookings. This was coming from the same girl that took my booking earlier. We were told to go to the Brasserie, ordered a bottle of wine which came, wrong wine, the waitress disappeared and eventually brought the right wine just as I was finishing my meal. The same applied with the ketchup that I asked for. She did apologise and said she forgot. Breakfast the next morning the waitress took our order which included some toast, no toast turned up. Asked another person if we could have some toast. Waited for ages, no toast turned up so we got up and left. And so it goes on for days two and three. Outdoor bar commandeered by the third wedding, I am afraid that if you are not part of a wedding party you take pot luck and are considered as collateral damage. Part of the marketing blurb mentions the word Tranquillity, I assure you our stay was far from Tranquil with three weddings and all the shouting and running around that went with them. Part of the problem was the fact that there was no management, hotel, restaurant or otherwise so everyone was left to their own devises. One good thing was recommendations for two local pubs The Fishpool Inn and The Pheasant which were excellent.

We booked a last minute overnight stay just to escape reality & so glad we chose here. We arrived to a beautiful wedding taking place & received a warm welcome at reception. Check in was easy & the lovely lady gave us lots of information. Unfortunately we couldn’t get access to our room but she came & sorted it straight away. We stayed in 402 in a turret, it was so lovely, I’m a little shocked a read a review complaining the rooms were dated …. It’s a castle, I’d have been so disappointed with modern rooms! Our room was lovely & clean with everything we needed for a relaxing break. We wandered the corridors taking in the history & the Wedding room looked so pretty. We wondered if we would be slightly disturbed by the night party but we couldn’t hear a peep even with windows open. Breakfast was delicious & the dining room lovely.

Peckforton is simply superb. The location is great and the castle itself is just so impressive. All teh staff are incredibly helpful and every aspect of service just seems to happen without any fuss. We had a most wonderful room with a valuted brick ceiling and a lovely sandstaone casement window. The room was spotlessly clean, the shower was great and the bed was very comfy. We had a most wonderful dinner in the 1851 restaurant. One of those meals where everythingis in great balance and you feel that you really have eaten something special. Despite the hotel hosting a wedding that night, there was no noise to disturb and we slept soundly. And of course, breakfast was excellent too!

Beautiful location and had a fabulous stay. Welcoming staff and service excellent. Food delicious and beautifully presented. Stayed in a Double Classic room overlooking the forest. Comfortable bed and en-suite room. Would like to return and stay in an upgraded room next time for the experience.

We were able to stay here for one night during my friends wedding! The wedding was just incredible! Beautiful setting, delicious food (very happy to have been served gluten free), and the rooms were lovely.

Stayed here for dinner bed and breakfast. What a beautiful building, and huge insideOur room was very cosy, and the views across the woods, with beeston castle in the distance was really lovely. Staff are very polite and efficient, also approachable. Food was amazing and reasonably priced. What an amazing choice for breakfast , hot and cold. Will definitely be going back, hopefully soon. Highly recommended.

An opportunity to stay in a castle in the Cheshire countryside. The backdrop of the castle is really nice. This hotel appears to survive on the number of weddings it hosts. The main gents toilet on the evening of the wedding was filthy and clearly not monitored and managed through the evening very often. The room we stayed was quiet and well away from the wedding - it was ok but dated. For some reason two Henry vacuums were stored in the walkways to the room rather than in a cleaners cupboard. The dinner room lacked atmosphere- but the food was really tasty. The staff seemed to disappear quite a bit - it took ages to get served drinks. The hotel staff were ok but didn’t really wow or engage that much to reflect the grandeur of the location.
