This place is a very friendly pub where the staff & owners are lovely, very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. They have a good range of crafted beers & and lager, the prices are very reasonable. We went on Saturday night and found it very comfortable with a nice log fire to keep you warm & cosy. 5 of us had meals which again was very reasonably priced with fantastic service & the food was amazing and the portion size were plentyful. I would definitely recommend this place after a nice walk or visiting Oulton Park. Lovely little pub in a nice little village & oh they also have a village shop for essentials and local produce.Parking: Large pub carpark.

Lovely place. Our family called in for food and a drink. Sunday dinner was very well cooked but the only downside was that it was warm but not hot. Apart from that it was a nice afternoon for us all.

Great atmosphere, really friendly and helpful staff, lady who works in the kitchen was especially helpful and really good with my autistic nephew. Food was fantastic and great sized portions, and particularly good service when you consider that we were a party of nine (plus dogs!) who turned up without a reservation. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely countryside pub in a pretty village with log fires and a good ambience. Car park. Something for most tastes on the menu. Particularly enjoyed the small pudding and a drink option. Tea served in a large pretty teapot. My friend and I booked lunch to celebrate the lives of our late mothers. Excellent venue choice for this special occasion with friendly efficient staff. Recommend

Lovely menu selection and food very well presented. It was very busy (12md on a Friday) but the staff advised that a table for the four of us would be available fairly quickly if we waited. She was correct (approx 5-10 mins). Service was very prompt and friendly. One member of our party preferred the breakfast options, but these were only available until 12md. However, it was 12.10pm but she still kindly allowed him to order the 'sausage doorstep sandwich' from the breakfast menu. Will definitely return!

It is a truly worthwhile stop for a bite to meal, well moreso a meal of quality, to enjoy that evening out, or to just top off a good day out.The food was exemplary, and the service is impeccable whilst the decor was classy and welcoming.A highly recommended place to stop, whilst also being next to the Shire horse visitor centre, which is worth a walkabout.

First time here on a special 'Date Night' with my husband. We were shown to our table and handed the menus. We saw that it was extremely busy and there may be a wait.After fifteen minutes, nobody attended to us or even offered a drink of water, we had also failed to catch their notice.By which time two more tables arrived after us, both of whom received immediate attendance and we were ready to leave.I finally caught the waitresses eye and when she came over, I explained that we were not happy.But, we decided to stay and order and she was very apologetic.Thankfully the delicious food more than made up for the fact that the service had been poor.It is a really nice pub, with great atmosphere and lovely decor.The food was excellent and the service afterwards was very good.Just such a shame that the lack of awareness at the beginning marred the rest of our evening.

The Nags Head

Staying in the village with our dog we booked into the Nag's Head for an evening meal on our first night. So glad we did. The staff and customers were very friendly. The atmosphere was great and as they were so dog friendly we immediately relaxed and had a lovely meal. Jessie ( lab) really looked forward to her sausages from " auntie" Bex. The menu as far as we were concerned was one of the best we had seen. We are not fans of fancy foods. So good that we ate there every night and had something different every night. I don't think we had ever done that before. Also the beer was good according to hubby. Would definitely recommend.

If you love a pub in a time warp you will love this pub. Nice couple of local real ales served in good condition and very friendly locals. Loved the one bar electric fire and very traditional outside toilets. If you come in the summer you may be able to see a crown green bowling game being played.

Sandstone Cafe

i walked the complete 34 miles of the Sandstone trail, and was very lucky the trail literally walked into the Cafe, probably the best sausage roll and snacks i had this hot summer (5 of June), a very much needed cold drink and hot drinks , the staff made the visit for me, worth the five stars, if they ever remake Logans run, i hope they use the Castle as a back drop.
