Went last night with my partner for a last minute meal. Quiet and peaceful atmosphere with friendly staff and the food was proper pub grub. 2x 3 courses and a drink each and the bill was just over £60. Will be back soon.?

HELLO BUDWORTHWe stayed at the Red Lion Little Budworth on Saturday night as I was competing at an event at Oulton Park Sunday morning that required me bringing a bicycle.Andrew and his wife (sorry, I missed your name) were EXTREMELY helpful, I was able to store my bike in a secured premise and they made all the little bits of potential hassle (getting there early/leaving early) seem like they weren't - which is exactly what you want. The rooms were nicer than I thought (and I believe ours wasn't a refurbished one but it was still excellent), good beds, the bar and restaurant were very smart, clean, good quality home cooking from a chef who's been there 20 years, the steak pie was QUALITY.The village is lovely, very close to Oulton Park, lots of lovely countryside around. We'll probably come back next year but for a couple of nights.

My wife and I like to go for a Sunday walk with the dog and stop midway at a cafe or pub for lunch. We don't leave a lot to chance and research before going to a pub. So today I searched online and discovered what looked like a very welcoming hostelry in Little Budworth. According to the website its dog friendly. has a reasonable lunchtime menu with a separate lunchtime additions menu (although on revisiting I see its dated May!) and just what we needed for a light lunch with a nice drink. So after a 2 hour walk we arrived at 12.10 checked with the menu outside the front door and entered the bar. We asked if we could have lunch. The staff were not the slightest bit welcoming and informed us that they had a big table arriving soon. We said we only wanted a light lunch and were told they didn't do light lunches. I referred to my internet research which was greeted with shrugged shoulders and a withering look. If we wanted a sandwich we were informed, then the best place was the garden centre just down the road. Actually 1.2 miles down the road. I have never had to say in a review that the staff attitude was appalling, which is the only word I can use to describe our experience today. I have never had to say that the information provided on a website was out of date and misleading which it is. Either that or the staff on duty today don't give a stuff. I expected better of a Robinsons pub. So should Robinsons. I will be writing to Robinsons to complain and I'm writing this review to forewarn others that all that glisters is not necessarily gold. Nul points, as they say.

Our walking group the Halton Strollers had Sunday Lunch today. Everybody was very happy with their meal. We were welcomed by all the staff and will return hopefully not as wet next time. The rain didn't stop for us but our meal made us happy it really was delicious.

Great village pub, opposite a very pretty church and run by a lovely couple, Very pleasant en-suite family room where 4 of us stayed. Breakfast was also excellent and the pub even has its own bowling green. All in all great value.
