Our favourite place to get together. Great food and the staff are lovely. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Next time we will try and save some space for pudding! They looked amazing. We will see you soon. Thanks

Birthday meal which was absolutely perfect - food, atmosphere and customer service was spot on. Food to die for, log burner making the place warm and cosy, wine the best and the staff were so friendly and accommodating and a credit to the restaurant - total recommend a visit as you won't be disappointed ?

Food was nice, service absolutely shocking. We were asked to choose our food 4 times within 3 minutes of sitting. When the food did come it was nice, it arrived and we had empty glasses, We had to ask for more drinks and they didn’t take the empties. After the plates were cleared we were not offered a desert or coffee menu. It was very quiet (about 8:30pm) and it was clear they just wanted us to go. My friend and I finished our drinks and chatted, the bar staff kept walking passed our table not saying anything but seemed to be checking how full our tables glasses were. At just after 9 we asked for the bill. Just after 9:30 pm there appeared to be only one member of staff left who approached our table with her coat on, keys in hand and asked us if she could lock up. Staff obviously just wanted to get home. Really very poor service and we won’t be coming back!

Unfortunately I have to say this pub is at best poor. My family booked this place on New Years day for some food and the booking was in one name for four people. So I arrived first and said I have a booking, and told the waitress the name is was under she sat us down and I said we are waiting on two other people under the same name she said no problem when they arrive I will bring the over to this table. Half an hour went by so I went to the bathroom upon walking to the bathroom I saw the other half of my family sitting at a different table at the other end of the pub! I was shocked but we didn’t want to make a fuss and brushed it off and asked my family if they had said the booking name which the made sure they had. So we joined the other half of the family. The waitress came towards us and I was expecting a quick apology or just anything. Instead she said oh I didn’t want the pram here as there isn’t space (which there was)! So I was about to say well oh well it was just that the other half of my family were on a different table, she Interrupted me and very rudely said it doesn’t matter now and a very unnecessary eye roll. Despite this our food took an hour it was bland had obviously been left under the light or microwaved. They forgot about several drinks just not good maybe a bad day but I’m definitely not returning.

Had a brilliant evening here as part of a large group of 30. It was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. The food was delicious, the tables were nicely decorated and all the staff were polite and friendly. I was really impressed with absolutely everything about the evening because it's not easy to get all 30 meals out at the same time. Everyone was commenting on how nice the food was and the organiser said she is booking again for next year as it was so good.

What a lovely meal we had today,served by 2 lovely ladies.The food was piping hot,a good amount,and home cooked roast potatoes.The pie was huge,and the turkey dinner ample,leaving room for a very light toffee pudding. Well done for giving the customer what they are paying for

Just had a Christmas party for 28 people and have to congratulate all the staff for making it such a fabulous evening. Right from making the first enquiry until the end of the meal the staff were absolutely fabulous, nothing was too much trouble and the food was absolutely amazing. Look forward to booking for our annual Christmas party again with you next year.

Cosy country pub with well-appointed accommodation, great choice of evening meals, and - for residents - lovely breakfasts. Attentive staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay.

We have just returned from a weekend away and had the most fantastic time. From the initial check in, to the moment we left, everyone was so friendly. The breakfast was one of the best we've had. The food at night time was good, my husband especially liked his beef and ale pie. We will definitely be back early next year.

Have called into Alvanley Arms in the past for drinks in the summer and always thought what a nice pub it is. Thought I’d visit for a nice pub meal with partner, however was left extremely disappointed. Despite the place being pretty much empty they struggled to seat us eventually finding us a table in the empty dining room. There were a couple of staff members serving but it was not remotely quick. We weren’t offered more drinks and when the food arrived it was very bland and disappointing. The music playing in the background was heavy metal and we asked if it could be changed as it was rather bizarre and not relaxing at all, which to be fair they accommodated. I had high hopes of this place being good as I’m local but that’s not the experience I had unfortunately and was left a little bewildered

I regularly stay away and normally country hotels. Never stayed in a pub before. Regular visitors to cotebrook shire horse centre. Decided to take a chance on the Alvanley Arms. So glad I did. Easy to get to, plenty of parking. Lovely friendly staff. Food was spectacular, very hot and very quick and shockingly low prices. Rooms are to die for. Super king bed, very comfortable and very homely. To be honest I didn’t want to leave. Thank you for everything. Keep doing what you do as you’re great at it. Definitely be back very soon.
