Excellent quality food. Great for those that like generous portions! Some excellent musical themed and tribute acts on throughout the year as well!

‘Wandering Wednesday’ this week took Hubster Neil and I, to The Crown in Widnes. The is a lovely olde worlde pub and was spotless……It mentions on the website that the food may be a little bit of a wait as the kitchen is small and food is cooked to order……‘Definitely worth the wait!!!!’….. starter we’re out in 10 minutes, so it wasn’t long at all. Both had a sharing platter as starters:Pigs in blankets, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, chicken wings, garlic bread and BBQ dipping sauce.EntréeNeil had:‘Trio of old English sausages’Homemade sausages, creamed mash potatoes, a selection of fresh vegetables and thick rich gravy with a sprinkle of dried fried onions on top to garnish.I had homemade Lasagne with homemade crème fraiche cheese sauce, garlic ciabatta, homemade ‘proper’ chips and a side salad with grated Parmesan. They are so generous with all the portions, desperate Dan dishes!I couldn’t finish mine, it had me beat! All the dishes were PIPING hot and so so tasty, flavours were so delicious….All staff were so polite and very courteous indeed. Will we be back to his gem of a Gastro pub….. 100% YES.

7 of us ladies visited for a meal. I can honestly say I have never had such a lovely Christmas dinner in a pub before. The veg was fresh, the spuds were crispy, the turkey was moist, the gravy was thick. It's hard to get a good standard of dinner like this in pubs because they are catering for a lot of people in one go and usually it's a disappointment. The Crown had it spot on, it was perfect in every way. Our waitress Susan was a delight.

Lovely food. Worth the wait. Disappointed as we booked a Festive meal, nothing festive on the table, no festive music or Christmas crackers like we’ve had in previous years. Came out feeling underwhelmed after looking to it for so long.
