We have been 4 times to this place twice this week, we like to go out for food n lunch as much as possible as have done in Bristol lots of times. This has to be the worse place for customer service we have ever been too. My partner asked for a J20 and the reply was why? That’s an odd order.. this afternoon we have just walked away as waiting to be served for ten minutes while two members of staff chatted or just walked around not looking at us , when I asked to be served I was told someone will be with you soon and again he walked passed us 3 times without even a hello I’ll be with you soon. STAY AWAY!!!! The Barge boat just down a little further is so nice and the staff are lovely .

You can’t fault the location of this restaurant and we have dined here on many occasions throughout the years and the meals have been generally ok. We had a Christmas meal here two years ago and it was fabulous so we decided to have one this year. There was no comparison. Two years ago the Christmas meal was fantastic and good value for money. This time the food was a disaster. Two courses for £27. The prawn and crayfish starter was small and came with a couple of small pieces of stale/soft bruschetta. The turkey main course was very disappointing. Two very small slices of rolled stuffed turkey on a plate. Really?! If we hadn’t been with a group of people we wouldn’t have hesitated to complain. There was a good selection of veg with it but we didn’t expect to pay £19 in effect for the main course for a load of veg. Those that had the chocolate pudding weren’t too impressed either - they said it tasted like chocolate Angel Delight. It might explain why there were very few tables eating there. Please bring back/do whatever you did before - you used to be great.

Thank you to all the staff for a fabulous Xmas meal. Our party of 14 were treated to a wonderful array of expertly prepared and cooked food. Beautifully decorated tables and a lovely cosy corner so we could enjoy ourselves without inflicting our merriment on other diners!! Our waiting staff met our wishes and desires with the upmost professionalism and ensured we had all that we requested. Even the lack of a specific drink was quickly dealt with and a suitable alternative was quickly found. We really appreciated all of your hard work as I’m sure some of us were pretty demanding!! Thank you so much

We visited on a rainy Sunday and despite the rain chose to sit outside. The service was friendly and actually very good. The food was reasonable. We had a burger and a grain bowl with chicken. The grain bowl was missing a bit of extra flavour but generally nice. The burger was ok too.

A great little alfresco bistro with good service and the outlook, over the canal, was very pleasant. Our food was extremely good and of a standard that surprised us considering the size of the building. This has already gone into our friends list of places to always go to when in the area.

I called in on Monday lunchtime, searching for a hot coffee after a cold bike ride from Newquay. The coffee was good and the menu looked interesting, so I went for a Fish Stew on the daily specials. It tasted superb and was equal to the best that I have eaten in Spain. After the stew, I didn't want to leave, so I ordered a Winter Crumble and another coffee. The staff were really friendly, it was quite busy with a good atmosphere and the food was superb, so I will certainly return soon.

Great food and service. We had an excellent full breakfast with lovely coffee. Have no hesitation in recommending the Olive Tree.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. We visited as a group of 17 for our wedding meal and everything was absolute perfection. Every guest loved their food. We asked for the food around 2pm and it was exactly on time. I really can't recommend this wonderful restaurant enough. The food, the service, the beautiful location - it's all perfect!! Thank you for making our day so wonderful. We look forward to visiting in the very near future.

Non existent customer service. Wife had fish pie, has been in bed all day with diarrhoea and vomiting. Not happy. If we were still in the area I would revisit the premises and speak to management. Avoid!!!!!!

We have visited the Olive Tree for dinner regularly for a number of years when on holiday in Bude. A high quality dining restaurant with a relaxing ambience and outstanding standard of food. No more. We arrived to find an "all day" menu which comprised café food- burgers, tacos, pizza and pasta. The prawn linguine we ordered was overpriced for a small portion. The service was slow with staff just walking past us without offering us drinks and were on the defensive when we asked about an evening menu. There atmosphere was of a tired, day time café serving into the evening and staff having no real interest in being there. If this is a restaurant you've been going to for years and enjoying; don't go again its changed beyond all recognition.

Right by the canal this is a little gem on a nice day and is dog-friendly outside on the benches in the sunshine. We had lunch which was delicious and returned for breakfast on our final morning in Bude. Portion sizes are generous as couldn't eat all. Will definitely return on our next visit to Bude!

We went on 2 occasions and each time the food was delicious and delivered in good time. The staff were nice and friendly and the setting alongside the canal was lovely. My sister said her linguine pasta dish was the best she’d had in a long time and better than more expensive restaurants. As the Olive Tree was alongside Bude canal people with dogs were more than welcome though only service dogs were allowed inside which I thought was fair enough.

As regular visitors to Bude we have yet to find a better place for everything from just a coffee stop right up to a full evening meal. Although busy especially in the height of the summer it never takes long to get a table if you time it right. Can highly recommend the cakes with coffee, ploughman’s and breakfasts. Dog friendly outside tables with umbrellas should it be too hot or drizzling & set beside the canal it’s a very nice setting. There is parking very close by which makes it accessible too.
