Called in for lunch today, as whenever I can when in the area, this is my favourite local pub for food in Cornwall.As expected, we ordered food and not long after, out came 2 amazing meals. My Chicken was proper Roast Chicken, more vegetables than the local grocers and my friends Sea Bass was loved by them.The Cauliflour Cheese was something I normally avoid, but here it was enjoyed and inspired my taste buds.A visit to The Boot is worth it for excellent food, most welcoming and lovely hosts in a true, proper pub atmosphere without the fast pace of most pubs.As always I'll be back as soon as I can.Vegetarian options: 3 options available on the Sunday menu.

Been trying to get my wife to go in for years whenever we visit Calstock, always refused. She finally went in with a friend a few months ago and now safe to say she's a convert!Food is fresh, homemade and delicious, good portions too. Family service with a smile. Warm atmosphere. Cozy fire.A real gem.

Stayed in Air BnB next door for the weekend. Had two evening meals and Sunday lunch in the pub. Amazing food - every meal was simply superb, great steak and one of the best Sunday lunches I've ever had in a pub. And all at really good prices. Great welcome from all the staff, Harry and everyone else.

Quite simply the best place to eat in Cornwall as far as I have found. Lovely people, Kim Shaun and sometimes Harry, who make sure of a warm welcome. The beer can be a bit hit and miss but the food is clearly cooked with skill and love. Stick to the wine and you’ll have a Michelin standard experience, just without all the pomp and faff.

Great food & so much of it! Easy & obliging - they were happy to give us the fresh wild sea bass with all the sunday roast trimmings. Almost ran out of fingers to counts the veg... Generous & accommodating with service too, even when busy. Loved it. And not a TV in sight :)}

What a fantastic place The Boot Inn is. Family run by Kim and Shaun who could not have been more lovely or welcoming. The food is utterly delicious so we ate here twice in one week. The Sunday Roast was even better than I hoped it would be, having read the numerous excellent reviews, I literally scraped my plate (and all of the serving dishes) clean. On our second visit we were delighted that the food was again, utterly delicious and the welcome was equally as warm. A special thanks too to Kim and Shaun’s son who served us on Friday night, he was brilliant and really lovely. Thank you all so much for looking after us so well. We can’t wait to come back again soon xxxx

Loved this pub. Firstly they got us a drink when they were actually closed as we were in desperate need after a huge walk. Really nice of them when they didn’t have to! Our friends have moved nearby so we had some great chats about the local area and came back for a pint that night. Last night we had the most wonderful meal, Shaun cooked to perfection 4 completely different meals including fish, duck, steak and lamb - each of which has a knack to getting perfect, which he achieved. We had scallops to start which were divine! We were also provided with his homemade Irish soda bread which was delicious. Kim and Harry kept us in drinks and banter and it was lovely that we got to compliment Shaun in person before we left, what a lovely family. Thank you guys, we will be back next year ???☘️

Firstly this is a proper family run pub, the minute you walk in you'll feel that family closeness and will be treated as part of the family. The owners are friendly and chatty, the sons hard working and very much on the ball with everything. There was something rather special about this place, can't fully put my finger on it but I'm sure you'll feel the same.Highly recommend booking tables as many customers sadly got turned away due to how busy the food was. The quality and taste was amazing, the beef melted in the mouth and the lemon homemade cheesecake was gorgeous.I personally feel the owners could be making more money from the food side of things, maybe re-looking at space or noticing 2 people took a table for 4, or trying their very hardest to not turn away potential customers in todays climate, even if this means asking those who haven't booked to eat within a set time surly this would be better than making them go back out in the pouring rain hungry and miserable.Highly recommended but do call and book first.
