Shocking. Had a table booking for 7:45. Running late, so rang and left a message saying we would arrive at 8:15. Arrived at 8:18. incredibly patronising lady said " sorry my lovelies, your table has gone. " Genius hospitality. Don't be late folks, or looking for good service.

Really cool find, I read about this place in local press and it did not disappoint, assuming you love chicken of course.. Enjoyed a delicious family chicken dinner here, the whole chicken was delivered to the table cooked to perfection, perfectly roasted and seasoned, with a selection of incredibly tasty hot and cold accompaniments. The banquet was generous but we still managed to eat almost everything, we couldn’t leave it alone! What a great idea, a different way to eat out, sharing a common meal, whilst having the feel of an intimate family dinner. Recommend booking well in advance as tables are limited and I’m guessing this is a popular place that people would visit again and again. The service was exceptional, highly recommend giving this a try.

Hidden gem!!! Cocorico - a new restaurant by the same chef, ‘Bunny’, as Star & Garter (that closed down). The BEST chicken we have had. Chicken gravy is TO DIE FOR! Outstanding flavors. Absolute MUST TRY if you’re in the area.

Nothing could have prepared me for my stay. There was not one thing I would want to change. Everything was utterly perfect. The apartment contained everything you could need for an overnight stay or longer. I was lucky enough to stay for business and I was completely bowled over with the high standard of the entire apartment. Have recommended to all of my friends and colleagues and will be returning next time I am in the area. If you are contemplating a stay here…book!! Exceptional, you won’t be disappointed.

First night of serving food- to take out only. We ordered the whole chicken with sides and sauces . It was delicious. The chicken was lovely and succulent. The butternut squash, veg and potatoes were all to die for. Delicious home made mayos and a very tasty red pepper sauce. Was such a lovely meal. Would highly recommend.

We stayed for one night in the Penthouse (a set of three rooms above the Star and Garter). Superbly decorated and equipped throughout from the very capable kitchen to the most comfortable bed with en-suite jacuzzi bathroom. And the view over the river - wonderful. There seems to have been a change of owner, or at least to the dining offering in the restaurant below. They had a soft opening on 13-JUL (we stayed on the 14th) - delivery of French-style barbecue chicken and good choice of sides straight upstairs to the room. And the mini-bar… a couple of bottles of wine (a decent Fiano) with hand mixed cocktails in brown bottles and cans of beers. Nice touch.

I booked a one night stay in the week of the Starboard apartment.I had been made aware that no parking was avaliable but we was lucky as the loading bay about 100 metres up from the accommodation had been resurfaced and none of the parking restriction lines had been painted back so I was able to leave the car for the length of the stay.We was allowed in earlier than thought which was great an allowed us to make more of the day.The apartment had just an amazing view over the harbour day or night.Although the apartment has some nice touches it is showing signs of wear and tear and is in need of a make over and a real deep clean. The bathroom light keeps flashing on and off and has a strong chemical smell. There was shampoo and conditioner but no shower gel. The walls in the bathroom have water marks on them from splashes and I don't mean the paint effect and dust on all the skirting boards. The shower rail is loose and needs attention and the hanger on the back of the toilet door has been rehung upside down. There was an ironing board but no iron and I know its the style of the decoration but the bedrooms are very dark. One of the main reasons we booked it was the great reputation of the bar and restaurant which was closed at the time of our vist due to over running works.I would say I was informed of this but as it was just a one night stay and it formed part of the itinerary of our road trip we carried on with the stay.I have been positive with parts of my review but feel I had to say on what I see which is the lack of attention to detail in maintaining and cleaning of the apartment.Rooms: Looking tired and need of face lift see main report.Walkability: Short walk along the High Street into the harbour and shops.

Exceptional food. Not just a pub. Every dish was fantastic but the big hits were the ham hock nugget, the chicken schnitzel, the spicy fish and the onglet steak.

Lovely roast and overlooking the water too. Highly recommend this place!

This was mine and my partner's first time visiting The Star & Garter, and it was perfect! We requested a window seat and we got one even though Sunday is their busiest day, the view was stunning. Our waiter and waitresses were so friendly, and even brought us a complimentary glass of fizz when we told them we'd just got engaged at Enys Gardens which was such a lovely surprise. The food was AMAZING! It's the best roast dinner we've had and the puddings were incredible too. Amazing place to eat and the best Sunday roast, I highly recommend it. Thank you for making our experience so special and wonderful!!

Incredible. We both had the vegan main which managed to still be so rich- the vegan Boursin was amazing! I really enjoyed their take on a margarita too. 5* experience

A brilliant Sunday Lunch with family and 2 small children who were typically children. The food was delicious and included several roasts, a couple of fish dishes and also a roasted carrot vegetarian option , much better than it sounds. The Yorkshire puddings were massive, good size portions on all dishes along with some tasty sides as well. The puddings were great and thoroughly enjoyed by all with the help of several extra spoons. A very good lunch

Sunday roast overall was disappointing for all three of us but for different reasons. The lamb was tough and inedible. The food wasn’t very warm. The Yorkshires are an impressive size but dry and over-cooked. There is no veggie roast option which is ridiculous. Service was slow and poor. One salt cellar in the restaurant and that was empty - refilled with damp salt! This is our second time of trying (giving them the benefit of the doubt last time) but sadly we won’t be returning.

Well where do I start? I went here about 5 years ago and had lunch and remembered really loving it, came back with my misses for a dinner and was absolutely blown away by the service and food. The food is second to none delicious, everything so considered, hot, seasoned perfectly and prices are fair, the service was amazing, very attentive, calm and knowledgeable on the menu and wine, the view is beautiful and they accommodated a sea view for us!The sticky toffee pudding with px sherry was the best sweet I’ve ever had at a restaurant (and I’m a chef who eats out regularly) can’t wait to be back.Do yourself a favour and book!

Lamb was delicious- very tender. While not shown on the menu they do smaller portions at half price which avoids food wastage and is a great value. Views over the harbor are excellent as was the service. I had the fish special (hake) which was the most expensive item on the menu and nothing special but the chips were good. However we went there so my wife could have a traditional Sunday roast and so mission accomplished
