We live the feel of this “proper” Cornish pub - first time we have had a Sunday roast - and will be back! Superb roast beef - with loads of different fresh veg! Lovely service and a roaring log fire. Unfortunately couldn’t fit in a pud! But they did offer a takeaway! £16.50 for one course, £21.50 for 2 courses and £24.50 for three courses - superb value - loads of meat and just delicious! Well done guys

Food was delicious and plentiful. Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Real log fire was fabulous on an extremely wet and windy day. Our dog was very welcome too. Excellent value for money, highly recommend and a fabulous NYE roast. The food does not disappoint and the photos do not do it justice.

I've been envying photos of the Sunday roasts served at the Cornish Arms for a long time. Today I got to try one. Pictured: Gammon roast, Turkey roast and a starter of smoked salmon. The roasts come with ten (10!) accompaniments including vegetables, stuffing and Yorkshire puddings. I was defeated by the sheer size of the serving. I have (until now) never enjoyed turkey because my few tries of it were dry, overcooked, stringy and/or flavourless. I thought I'd try the turkey today because a) it's the ultimate challenge in my mind and b) everything the chef has served to date has been exceptional. How would he go with turkey? Well, this turkey was perfection: tender, moist and delicious. Chef has proven to be a Master.

Went to the Cornish Arms for tea during our trip to Cornwall. Great pub, traditional feel with lovely real fire. Staff were knowledgeable, friendly and gave great service. We all had the burgers which were delicious and great value for money - I'd recommend the Asian chicken burger! Would definitely visit again if in the area.

Awesome food and service but didn’t like the fact that once we sat down we were informed you have to buy 2 courses (offered the option to take home but not informed when booking) I’ve never heard of this elsewhere and find very strange!

Had a Sunday roast by the fire and was all lovely. Great food, good portions, unlimited gravy, nice staff, good atmosphere. Would recommend!

Live in Hayle and have been to the Cornish Arms on several occasions. I was always happy with the experience but have not been for 3 years or so. Went last night with friends for her birthday. It was probably the biggest disappointment I have had in years. Checked the menu on line the day before, seemed reasonable. Arrive to find the prices had gone up, quite considerably on some courses. The pork ribs by £5. Silly me assumed the £15 for the burgers included chips but did not specify this. The chips would be £7 extra. Went for the fish and chips instead, luckily the chips were included. However they looked like something bought frozen from Asda down the road, and were not very numerous. As for the mushy peas. Well I always thought something mushy might have liquid in it. Atmosphere was like a pub, but for these prices and quality of food they should try harder. Will not be back. I am not a master chef but I could have produced a better meal for all four of us for the price of 3 portions of chips.

Food is expensive for the quite ordinary standard. Hadn't been for a while after a previous bad experience so gave them another chance. We were sad to find that things really hadn't improved.

The opening times listed are wishful thinking, they only seem to open 3-days a week. I drove past the other week, a lovely sunny Sunday October afternoon. Shut. Why? They clearly have no interest in selling beer. They seem to be currently operating as a restaurant rather than a pub which has turned away most locals who I know used to drink there. Used to have acoustic acts on a Friday which had a nice chilled vibe. Note the word 'Used' used several times. Tis a shame...

We visited as a family and a dog. We received a very warm welcome when we arrived. We were served quickly and the staff were all so lovely and friendly. The portions were pretty big and the food was delicious. Our dog had his own menu and was treated to the sausages. Overall, had a lovely visit and enjoyed a tasty meal at the Cornish Arms and would certainly return if we are ever back down near Hayle again.

We held our wedding reception there in mid September. 40 guests in the outside Kraken area. It was awesome - the food superb, ample portions (the only complaint from our guests was that there was too much food!) and all served piping hot. The team were amazing- Bernadette & John, Dave (the Chef) and Delilah, Casey & Jess thanks for making our day/evening so special. We shall return again very soon

I think generally this is a nice place but we just had a bad experience. When we arrived we waited 15 minutes to order food. Food arrived and my Mac and cheese was nice, if a bit bland. But my partners food was a burger which came raw, when we sent it back and asked for just the patty to be put in the oven for a couple minutes and the wrong burger came back and our “millionaire fries”, were missing the truffle oil. We did let our server know who apologised but when the bartender came over with the bill we did ask for the service tip to be removed because we were disappointed with the food, he told us that it’s on the menu and therefore can’t be taken off. I’m sure we just had a bad experience but left feeling very disappointed.

What can I say? Raw beef burger. Returned as a different burger from what I ordered. Brie instead of pulled pork. Millionaires fries no truffle oil which made them ‘millionaire’ why I ordered them. Long delays completely spoilt our evening. Nothing off bill and we asked for service charge of 10% to be removed… but “sorry can’t do that.” We don’t like to make a fuss… but as a student and low paid NHS worker £78 wasted…. Sooooo disappointed as had saved up for a treat on a night out. Never to return …..
