Our first, second & third options for a Sunday Roast were all closed for January and as we were passing Gwithian we decided to try the Red River. I’m so pleased our choices had all been closed because the roast we were served was absolutely delicious with perfect service. We will definitely be back the next time we’re on the north coast looking for a Sunday lunch.

It was a dull, cold, miserable January day when we decided to go to the Red River Inn for lunch. We got a warm welcome, great beer, a lovely atmosphere and really good food. It does get very busy here in the holiday season so all the more reason to go now.

We stayed nearby and our host recommended a visit. It was a New Years Eve roast menu. The roast was delicious, by far the best roast in a long time, staff were lovely and friendly, great atmosphere and nice and clean. Will be back next time we visit Cornwall ?

We have been once before and enjoyed it. This time we took my mother in law plus her dog We all enjoyed our food and the dogs were made welcome too The nachos portion is huge as is the fish and chips The sirloin steak was cooked beautifully and very tender. Looking forward to returning

Just popped in here after a spell on the Towans at the very end of a holiday and had beer and coffee which were both excellent. The thing that was so striking was just how spotlessly clean and sparkling the whole place was, a credit to the staff as it is not easy to attain and retain those standards. As and when we go to this area again we will definitely revisit but for a meal next time.

Excellent food and lovely attentive staff. Birthday meal made special by staff singing. Will definitely e coming back. Small complaint was music was a little too loud

Great meal at the Red River last night, this place is a regular for us when visiting and the food certainly did not disappoint. The menu was perfect and we all chose a different meal (my wife is still raving about the sea-bass which was the last one on the menu!) I couldn't finish the nachos in the end but I made sure the pulled pork and home made guacamole was finished, delicious. We did recommend however that the landlord should improve his fire making skills ? thanks again, great night....

Great pub. Staff very friendly. Lovely setting and dog friendly. Highly recommended ? UPDATE: just had Sunday lunch here, amazing. The updated menu since we last ate here is fantastic. Again the staff were great. Not being a local we were made to feel welcomed. Highly recommend. Thanks also for the wine tasters ??

Well what can I say…. we rocked up at 4pm on a Sunday at the start of half term wondering if we could get a table for food. Despite being well booked, and only a couple of hours of service left we were asked how many of us there were. When we explained there were 11 of us…instead of just laughing or saying no, the team behind the bar asked the chef if we could be accommodated. On a positive response, they quickly prepared the tapas bar (an outbuilding off the beer garden) for us so we could all sit together. And then the food…. Was so good! Despite being so many of us, there was not an appreciable delay from ordering to being served and was fantastic! The Sunday roasts were fab… and the gravy to die for! Even the desserts were great. The service was with a constant smile and nothing was too much to ask for. We were so glad we made the trip out to the Red River and will happily return again. Many Thanks for being able to cater to us.

We've eaten here a couple of times recently and everything about the place is excellent. The front of house service is friendly and the restaurant/bar manager professional and helpful. Two weeks ago we had steak here, which has become an expensive 'treat' with current food prices. We were delighted with the quality, texture and flavours of the meal and it was worth every penny. Today we had the roast and I have to say it was the best pub roast we've ever tasted, once again everything was beautifully cooked and fresh tasting. The quality of ingredients and the care which is going into the preparation of the food is really obvious. At the moment, I can't think of better food to be had in the Hayle area.

To be honest we were in 2 minds about coming due to some of the reviews, but it seems most of the negative ones were about things that were out of the pubs hands.... Like being too busy or too hot in the summer! Luckily for us, it was nice and quiet when we came in yesterday for a Sunday roast. I really wanted it to be good, especially at £18 and I'm pleased to report it was not just good but excellent, huge kudos to the chef. A generous portion of tender beef, cooked perfectly for us, medium. A massive home made Yorkshire pudding, crispy fluffy roast potatoes and a great interesting selection of veg. Dog friendly, including treats for dogs and even a portion of cracking for them (ahem, me!). First time staying at the campsite across the road, loved the area and will definitely be back. Cheers

We stayed near to the pub. You need to book due to being busy. This was our second visit of the week. A very different from my last visit. What a shame as we waited quite a long time to be served our main course. Dessert was longer but did come eventually. We would have bought more drinks but couldn’t be bothered to be left waiting any longer. We could have just walked out without paying I really don’t think anyone would have noticed. The people next to us had to go and fetch someone to give them table service. Another table found out certain food had run out. I can only think it was due to being understaffed and poorly organised. I appreciate you can’t predict foot fall but most tables were pre booked as had reserve on most of them.

We had a lovely roast here on a Sunday in September. Food was lovely, drink was lovely and service was fab. We stayed just up the road in an Airbnb so nipped down here in the rain one evening. They had an extensive range of rum and gin that I love and my partner worked his way through the types of cider! I had pork belly and was great and my partner had roast beef. Plenty of food for the price.

Came across this little pub, the lady behind the bar was so welcoming, nothing was too much trouble for her, she advised my party on drinks to taste and try, and my cream tea was the best I've had in 4 visits to Cornwall wall, absolutely delicious, even packed the rest away to take away as my eyes were bigger than my belly, The drinks were lovely, the place clean and tidy, the food menu looked amazing and we will return to try the food.. Thank you, and highly recommend
