Visited the restaurant today, first time, without having heard anything about it and we will certainly be returning. What a gem we have found, thanks to the chef, our meals were fabulous, the waiting staff very polite and attentive, we had a wonderful time. I hope you had a drink on us! ?Dietary restrictions: Vegan and vegetarian options

Probably the best restaurant in Launceston. Very nice fish and chips and a pint.?

We were looking for somewhere to eat and popped in here. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Restaurant was lovely with lovely views. Food was very nice.

Well front door is in bad state of DIY repair, door furniture moved, old site filled but on show. The entire premises is tired and in need of major redecoration throughout. Reception woman didn’t even look up when we arrived….not front of house material whatsoever. Our room was fine and we found the Fawlty Towers style quite funny. Young staff worked hard and cheerfully. Breakfast was a shambles but the cooked food was delicious when it came. A domestic kettle without water source provided for all to make your own beverages. There is a relaxed style and then inadequate sadly. Probably due to no other hotel in area it can get away with it.

I booked this hotel as quick stay on the way to south Cornwall to break up journey . First impressions when you arrive , looks grand but past it’s best , but the staff are friendly, rooms are clean and tidy , comfortable bed but interiors are a bit dated , don’t let that put you off. The restaurant and bar area are very well done , great terrace over looking the valley. To one side of the bar is gin distillery in there very funky, you can buy the eagle gin, to take home or drink in the bar. Menus are not too extensive, but to me that’s a good sign I’m not keen on long menus . Has more than enough choice’s on , simple steak to fish and chips etc The food was great one the tastiest meals we have had in long time. Scotch eggs and white bait to start , the chicken crumb and pork chop we can recommend, great flavours with different veg , whipped mash , bbq cabbage. Restaurant and bar staff were all very polite and quick service , can’t ask for much more from them . Breakfast was very good, table service that’s a big plus for us. It’s a bit odd tale of two sides but would stay again , and can recommend for a meal out even if you don’t need a room well worth going for drink on the terrace just for the views over the valley .

We managed to book one of their superior rooms for the night. Which they allowed our dogs to stay in. Situated in Launceston, 200 metres from Launceston Castle. The hotel has a garden, free private parking, a terrace, and a bar. The food was very good too, all freshly cooked to order. Breakfast in the morning was included. It's a lovely historical place and even has its own wickipedia page. The staff are young and very friendly, and their manager Geo is an asset to the business. It was enjoyable for an unplanned stay and very memorable.

Clearly the happening place in Launceston. Halfway up the hill to the castle and definitely not disability friendly, but lovely friendly service. Good breakfast, good bar service dinner. My companion had a great room with a view over the valley - mine was on the lower ground floor - rather dingy and with a view of a bank of weeds.

My daughter & I struggled to find a restaurant open on Monday night but thanks to a local lady we were recommended The Eagle. Sat on the terrace in glorious evening sunshine & had a pea & asparagus risotto. The best we’ve ever tasted. The staff were friendly & attentive.

Fantastic experience! The staff were extremely helpful, accommodating and up beat - nothing was too much trouble. They ensured we could park right outside the hotel, as my partner has limited mobility, and changed our room (of their own volition) to make it more accessible; and ensured we got a taxi on a really busy evening in Launceston. It was extremely refreshing to be treated genuinely so well. The menu looked good however, we ate elsewhere as it was pre arranged. The room had all that was necessary plus a view of the castle! Comfy bed and quality linen. Great outdoor terrace, from the bar, with a wonderful view (see photograph). I would definitely return. Thank you for making our visit even more enjoyable.

Comfy bed and very good restaurant..had a very good meal which was served by friendly staff. Staff overall very helpful…but the place is in desperate need to renovation..carpets throughout the hotel are filthy, the bathroom is out of the 1950s, everywhere needs a good paint..
