1st time visit for us. A welcome sanctuary from the driving rain and a moorland walk. Big real fire and a warm welcome. Nice selection of beers, but no Jameson's? The menu looks great so that's another reason to visit again.

The food is absolutely terrible! We were a party of 6, 5 of us had the mussels to start which were so gritty, could barely eat them. My dad ordered the steak for his main & his peppercorn sauce was so burnt. My mum had the lamb and it was full of fat! No meat on it whatsoever, the state of it when it was brought over, it looked disgusting and was shocked they even brought it out of the kitchen like that. I would avoid this place like the plague because the staff seemed like this happens a lot and they didn’t seem to care. Plus could hear chefs in the kitchen swearing and the smell of burnt food was horrendous!!

This is a place where I have to stop for a meal every time I'm in the area. Always top food and service until now.My last visit was extremely disappointing specially because I'm used to the top quality food this place used to offer. Ordered something that was totally different from what I imagined. A pork burger that consists of 2 deep fried pork chops in a bun. The chips tasted like fish, certainly cooked in the same oil and all the deep fried items were soaked in oil making it impossible to eat.I want to believe this was just an one off experience and it won't happen again. Looking forward to go back and be able to make an excellent review.

Never been here and actually never heard of it, so had chicken wings with a very tasty blue cheese sauce to start then a really lovely roast, Husband had beef and I had lamb and even though they served red cabbage (where’s the greens) the cauliflower cheese was tasty and swede nicely mashed, 4 nicely roasted crispy potatoes well worth the money! Thank you for a nice surprise on this cold autumnal day.

Best pub in South East CornwallThe quality of the food was second to none in the south east Cornwall. I am really impressed and delighted. I finally found a traditional old pub with great atmosphere, in the countryside, and with amazing food. The service was excellent too. I will definitely become a regular.

Complete waste of time and money! Greeted by a miserable young girl who looked like she couldn't be bothered and we were a pain in the neck! We had booked for 1pm on Sunday and were looking forward to a lovely roast. It was disgraceful service, terrible food and overall, felt like no one cared anymore! The roast dinners were inedible, the veg was mush served in a dish, i had to ask what it was! The roast potatoes were burnt, Chewy and tasted awful, obviously been sitting around for some time and re-heated. One meal was quite nice and was clearly cooked fresh and served with fresh salad leafs. We waited at least 40 minutes and given we had booked for 3, there were only 2 sets of cutlery, no condiments, no apple sauce with the pork. The 2 roast dinners were left and I refused to pay for them. I asked to speak to a manager and was told, the chef is too busy, then asked, what's wrong? When I told her we couldn't eat the food so would not be paying for those two meals, she simply said, "Okay"! By the way, if you're going to have fresh flowers on the tables make sure the dead ones are removed and the water is fresh not slimes and cloudy! Unbelievable!

A lovely pub, very pleasant staff and very tasty food although I must say, a roast lunch without any greens is a shame, this is my personal view as greens on the plate I have always been used to, once again this is my personal view, I have never believed red cabbage belongs on the plate of Sunday roast. All that aside, service was quick and efficient , the meat was superb along with the swede and cauliflower cheese and unfortunately red cabbage.

We really enjoyed ourselves at Crows Nest Inn, lovely roasts with tasty veg, great starters and lovely company.

If I could give less than one star I would. Menu not even close to the one advertised. We waited 45 minutes for a tough steak that only one of our party of 3 could chew. That would be 2 adults and a dog. I took the time to stop by and personally make a reservation and pointed out that it would be a birthday meal for my partner .I paid over £70 for a ghastly meal. Please save your money and eat elsewhere.

Very disappointing roast dinner. Having read the almost all positive reviews I booked for a family of three for Sunday lunch. Although not expensive the roast was very poor and basic quality. The roast potatoes had clearly been kept warm for a long time which is inexcusable since we ate at 1.00pm, the vegetables were of reasonable quality but unfortunately lacked something green with them - which, alas, could be found in one of my wife’s potatoes. The staff seemed more concerned with chatting to the locals rather than serving non local visitors and one girl in particular looked as if her life was ending having to serve us. It is a quaint traditional looking pub so why have horrible pop music blasting out in the bar? If I want that I will go to a Wetherspoons. Overall, it could be so much better and the management really need to look at their chef and his / her skill levels.

Lovely very quaint little place, very accommodating I have 4 dogs a toddler and a 6mth baby with me and they fitted us in and nothing was a problem. The food was good a little high in price but its a country pub in middle of a tiny town.

Arrived at the pub, outside area lovely with plenty of parking. Staff are really friendly but was obvious very understaffed, bar lady rushed off her feet taking causing delays & felt awkward asking for drink refills or anything we wanted. Food was not worth the money; bland flavouring & very greasy. Everything battered and caked in oil. Credit where credits due but the food aspect needs looking at. Wouldn’t really return, very local/regulars for drinking and food a disappointment. Also the tables was horrifically sticky, could near the menus peeling off the table.
