Crisps deserve a 5 star rating, as it is all I ate, was on a mission to to get as many pints down my neck within the allotted time, could of done a more thorough job if I hadn't been slowed down by my lightweight nieces Chloe and Charlotte, they should be ashamed of themselves.

Probably the best fish and chip meal I've ever eaten. A perfect combination of well cooked chips, fresh fish fried in the lightest of batters and minted mushy peas. Throw in a genial host and I can't think of a better way to spend a Friday

Heard some good reports so booked a table for the carvery as a small family gathering. Arrived and it was very quiet with Carl laying up the carvery. Once other family members arrived and Carl was ready we were called up. Great spread with a starting choice of pork or beef. Also a wide selection of different veg to go with the meat choice. Best was proper roast spuds and crackling (with the pork) which is always a good sign. Food was really good !. Staff were attentive to check a couple times for more drinks and desserts so were spot on. Everyone enjoyed the meal and were well (impressed and) stuffed come the end. All agreed on a return visit with an increase of family members for later in the month. Well done Carl and the team.

First visit and was certainly not disappointed. Have to say it was a great carvery. Not rushed and plenty of room between the tables. Will certainly be going back.

A quick pint or two in our new local. Nice reception from the staff. Quiet but that's not so bad for the customers. Good beer and even better whiskey.

I enjoyed the best fish at the Market Inn last night. Possibly the best I’ve tasted. Beautiful white, flaky moist fish in the lightest of batters. Traditional accompaniment of fresh chips, mushy peas, and some bread and (real) butter. They are beating the fish & chip shops at their own game, and offering the warmest of welcomes into the bargain. The prices are really affordable, the atmosphere is great, and there was live music too. If there’s a better night out somewhere……tell me where. I’ll be back again soon.

This little pub has suddenly become a buzzing hub, since it was taken over by Rachel and Carl. The welcome here is personal and warm, and the atmosphere created makes you want to return. The introduction of food, has really put the jewel in their crown, and they now serve, (amongst other things), the finest fish n chip suppers on Friday nights, and more recently, have introduced home cooked Sunday roasts, served most conveniently, between 12noon and 4 pm. The dining room is small but very cosy, and the offerings on their launch day included roast rib of beef, and roast turkey. There was a variety of vegetables, along with the “staples” of roast potatoes, and roast parsnips. (Yorkshire puddings go without saying?). It’s a laid back environment, where the bookings are sensibly spaced so that it isn’t “manic”. Carl is at the carving board to serve your chosen meat/s, and the vegetables are “help yourself”, as are all the trimmings. The meal feels homely and certainly provides a nourishing feast for those with a hearty appetite. Sunday lunch at The Market Inn will certainly become a “go to” for people within quite a wide radius, be it for Fish n chips, Sunday roast, or just the great friendly night out with their special burger. Keep this up Rachel & Carl, you’re getting it just right.
