We dined here when staying in Polperro for a few days for my niece’s wedding at Trenderway Farm. The whole evening in this restaurant was fantastic. They have the ambience just right with the music at the right levels. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and chatty with a great smile. The food was absolutely superb. We could not fault any of the three courses. They even had a lovely dessert wine to finish off our evening with. To cap it all, the chef came out at the end of the evening for a lovely chat. All in all, this restaurant has all the credentials I would expect from a large city restaurant. If you are ever in the area, you MUST visit.

We really enjoyed our dinner here. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff very friendly. The food was delicious and portions were very generous- just right! The starters - scallops and salmon - were perfectly prepared and served. The mains - fillet of beef and confit duck - were so good. The dessert and cheese board finished the meal with aplomb. We had a bottle of Chateau Neuf de Pape which was very good to accompany the dinner. The dinner was very reasonably priced given quality of the cooking and produce.

Wow, we had what we called the best meal we have ever had last Friday. The most amazing meal. The service was exceptional and the food was amazing. We were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions. The Amouse Bouche was so full of flavour as was the dressed Crab and Roasted Scallops. The cod was very very good and the Hake was amazing with what I called the ring of flavour Salsa Verde.... the chocolate bonbon was my favourite of the dessert trio although all good. A very very nice bottle of Pinot washed it all down nicely. Couldn't recommend it enough.

After a lovely week in Polperro, we finished the week at Couch's and had a most wonderful meal. Not only was the food exceptional and beautifully presented, but we were so well looked after by Phil and we loved that Richard came over to chat to us more than once. Restaurants of this calibre can sometimes be stuffy, but this was relaxed, friendly and it felt like dining with friends. If I lived any closer, I would be back all the time!

Wow, an excellent experience. We had the most amazing meal at Couch's last night. Very friendly, very interactive very timely, very happy service all night even after we had finished. Not usually a big lover of soup .. but wow the Amuse Bouche was brilliant, flavours hitting the taste buds with the soup, the butter and the sea salt brioche. My partner and I had Crab and Scallops for starters which were devine. A generous portion of Hake was fantastic with what can only be called a ring of flavour being an unbelievable Salsa Verde. The trio of desserts brought up the rear with no less pleasure. The chocolate bonbon being the star for me. A wonderful bottle of Pinot helped cement the pleasurable experience for us. Bravo Richard and his team at Couch's, well done for presenting us with the best meal we've ever had.

What a wonderful evening we enjoyed at Couch’s Great House to celebrate our Anniversary. Richard and his front of house waiter were both extremely welcoming and couldn’t have done more to make our evening so special . We were seated at a booth by the window which was lovely to ‘people watch’ too! Every course was beautifully presented and of the highest standard, undoubtedly the best meal we have eaten in such unpretentious but yet perfectly relaxed and comfortable surroundings. We hope to visit Polperro again next year and will definitely return to Couch’s for a special treat . Thank you Richard .

My husband and myself visited Couch's restaurant while we were on holiday in Poperro for our wedding anniversary. We researched online first and booked prior to going on holiday and we were not disappointed. we had the three course set meal with an additional amuse bouche The whole meal was absolutely delicious and great portions too. The atmosphere in the restaurant is relaxed and the owner and the waiter are very friendly. We would certainly recommend dining here for a special occasion. We thought it was the best meal out of the week.

Not our first visit to Couch's, but easily as wonderful as we remembered. It has a lovely friendly atmosphere that is created by Richard and his staff. The service and attention to detail is easily as good as any top London Restaurant but mixes an easy informality that creates a wonderfully relaxing environment. The food is first rate and beautifully presented and makes use of locally sourced products. Truly a memorable experience.

On another evening out with friends in Polperro we had an outstanding meal at Couch’s. Upon entering the restaurant we received an effusive greeting and were swiftly seated and offered drinks. All of the food options were very tempting, we started with the amuse bouche of a tomato soup with truffle oil and a lovely fresh bread muffin. For the selections from the menu I went for the scallops with cauliflower puree and black pudding which was exquisite. This was followed by the fish and cheese course which were wonderfully presented and served. The portions throughout were but refined and abundant. Service was attentive and generous without being overpowering. All in all a fantastic meal and overall experience. The refined nature of the food means I would not go every evening, but I will certainly return the next time that I am in Polperro.

Absolutely superb - delicious food and menu choices and delightful wines to compliment the food - excellent friendly service and Chef took time to chat with us - would highly recommend as the food and place is just great and the taster menu does not disappoint - we also had the cheese board too with a Taylor’s Port to end the meal which was great too
