Read a review a few months ago of this restaurant and cant agree moreThe service was great!! The starters were good. The mains were not good.We ordered the monkfish with risotto and sides of cavalo nero; and broccoli and Cauliflower cheese. The cavolo nero was cabbage. The broccoli and cauli cheese was just cauli cheese and overcooked. We didn't eat these and I did complain. Not sure if I've been charged for those yet as haven't had the bill....The monkfish was perfectly cooked but Jesus the risotto was salt salt salt. I couldn't eat it. Squid ink is salty so adding any extra salt when cooking would be a bad idea. I think the chef has seasoned without tasting first. It was inedible. The service was great. Staff were amazing. Setting was lovely apart from a little to bright in the evening... maybe mood lighting would be better after 7pm?Desserts were good. Blue cheese of the day was from York which was disappointing... I own a cheese shop in the Westcountry and with so many incredible blue cheeses from Devon and Cornwall, not sure why you would pick Yorkshire ?‍♀️ we have so many incredible producers here.Shame because the hotel is really nice for the price (winter/spring stay) we loved the gym and the spa.Restaurant lacking

I really wanted to be able to give this restaurant 5 stars but sadly the food let it down. Location, service and atmosphere was outstanding, so was the starters BUT the mains were dreadful. Everything had mounds of salt on it, all 6 of us said the same on our mains. The portions were tiny, £22 for a finger size piece of cod with a bit of dill mayonnaise..that was with no sides. What the hell guys…you are right by the ocean, surely you could have spared a cod loin each rather than a quarter per person, it’s embarrassing how you feel it is okay to serve that and charge £22. Comical but we surely won’t be returning.

Spent a few days in Pentire and Newquay for my wife’s birthday and we shared a lovely evening in Dune. The manager, Jack(?), was so welcoming and, although the Tasting Menu was unavailable, talked us through the menu. This unhurried approach set the tone for a lovely dinner. We shared three starters - mackerel, birds liver parfait and confit lamb’s belly - which were all beautifully presented and tasted as good as they looked. For our mains my wife had a duck dish and I had the cod loin. Both were perfectly seasoned and tasted divine (we even shared a fork of each other’s dishes to avoid food envy). I don’t normally take food photos but on this occasion I did so I’ve attached them. Great food, great service and our favourite meal of the weekend. As a post script, we also had a spa day with cream tea in the hotel which was rather lovely too!

Really disappointed with food and attitude of the manager. Ordered the Miso aubergine with cous cous and pomegranate. What came was 1/2 a very small aubergine on a handful of cous cous. It was so tough I couldn’t even cut it. The manager kept saying it ‘was meant to be tough’ and reluctantly offered to have another one ‘cooked’ for me. When the second one came out there were no pomegranates on it. When I asked they said they’d run out, but no alternative offered. Complete rip off at £18!!! Service charge automatically added to the bill even though there were two of us.

We dined here for breakfast and dinner. Would not recommend. The service was poor, the ‘manager’ was too busy setting up tables to even come and ask how everything was, our breakfast was very stingy and cold. The apple juice was fizzy (we notified a member of staff and was told oh yeah we know we’ve changed it about half an hour ago.) no apology. We ate for dinner and it was possibly the worse meal and experience we’ve had. Our drinks came out 25 minutes after we ordered and it wasn’t busy, I had to ask where they was, we’d already finished the snacks and starters before they arrived. Our mains came - my partner had the cod, it was so salty he couldn’t eat it - there was so much tartare sauce which also overpowered everything. I had the halibut, it was the smallest piece of fish for £22/£24, my sauce arrived in a jug when I’d halfway eaten through it, there was a piece of very burnt chorizo too which nearly broke a tooth. We told our waiter when they finally cleared the table, she apologised and told us she would speak to the manager. We decided to order puddings thinking it might be a saving grace - sadly it wasn’t. The milk chocolate and peanut mousse came and was covered in off whipped cream. I told the waiter, again she said I will alert my manager. We asked to pay with the shock of we didn’t even have a discount. The manager never came. The next morning I ended up with sickness, diarrhoea and bad cramps, we had only eaten at your place so I know it was the food you served. Would never recommend.

Great menue, good veggie options, I had the courgette flower to start which was so different and tasted lovely. It was a busy restaurant but felt so relaxed and all the staff were very friendly and knowledge. Definitely recommen this resturants for a lovely treat or just a nice meal. Price was not overly expensive for what it was either.

Despite we were not guests of the hotel, we decided to have dinner at Dune restaurant anyway. Initially, we were told we could have dinner about an hour and a half later than we wanted to, so we hesitated and walked away. Eventually, we came back a few minutes later to confirm the later hour and a gentleman from the staff kindly informed us something in the planning had changed and we could have a table earlier. The service was excellent and so was our food. The beef filet we ordered was delicious! Food was prepared with fine ingredients and portions were big enough. We highly recommend this restaurant.

The whole evening was amazing from start to finish. Our servers Franci and Noah were absolutely brilliant. We have lived in Newquay for a couple of years and eaten out alot but Dune is by far the best. The food was incredible and beautiful. You owe it to yourself to eat here! Thank you everyone for a fantastic evening.

We went for an evening meal and were pleasantly surprised how nice the interior was with a light elegant airy feel. The staff were very attentive and we were served some bread as a starter which came in the form of a mini scone and a slice of bread with homemade butter which was absolutely delicious. Our starters arrived and we were all pleased. I had the courgette flower with a basil sauce stuffed with ricotta cheese which was very tasty my only criticism was it could have done with a bit more cheese. Another starter was the pate which was very good. Everyone was happy with their mains again very nicely presented with good flavours. The desserts were a triumph as they were creatively presented and delicious. We all came away very happy and thought it was excellent value for that standard of meal so will definitely return.

The view and service is good but the food is the worst. I ordered beef for the main dish and it tasted like fart. ?? Probably used a rotten meat. Told the staff about it while paying the bill later he was like they changed the menu so. Thats doesn’t make sense tho.Not recommended if you wanna go for a place to eat basically.

Stunning views and a nice place to go for something special, food tasted great and the service was fantastic relaxed but attentive. The only issue is the portion sizes are small and we left feeling hungry which was a shame as the food tasted fantastic
