Our family of seven comprising three generations have just enjoyed a very happy week at the Abbey. Huge rooms included a baronial dining room and a welcoming sitting room, seven generous sized bedrooms and a kitchen much enjoyed by our chef, Martin. There are bookshelves in almost every room, traditional and quirky ornament, memorabilia and works of art. Access to the town, railway and bus stations and the promenade is at hand. Two ways to get to the off-road parking area - down a narrow but short hill, and via the slipway. We used the latter on arrival as our satnav directed us there, but my wife banned me from further use as it’s quite a challenge for the unknowing. We met Jonathan, who looks after maintenance etc and, as he put it, you either “ get The Abbey or you don’t “. We certainly got it ! A mention too of Libby, who met us on arrival and was absolutely impeccable in detailing all aspects of the house together with a written summary of recommended restaurants and places of interest. Our thanks to owner, Mr Cox, for allowing our family to enjoy our annual holiday together in such impressive surroundings. Derek Morgan .

This is NOT a restaurant but a self catering unit
