We visited The Shore to celebrate our first wedding anniversary in August and Bruce did not disappoint. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed and the service provided by Bruce was faultless.
The food was amazing, some of the best fish we've ever eaten and each dish came with an explanation of where it came from and how it was cooked. I'm not a fan of shellfish but the smoked fish custard with mussels was my favourite of the night, as well as the rosemary posset.
If you enjoy good food I would thoroughly recommend booking, it was 100% worth it.

I ordered a takeaway online and noticed the menu seems to be missing chicken tikka masala, which my friend usually has. I called up Red Chilli to inform them and they were so surprised and apologised, and let me know that they do do it and just to put a note on the order and that they would sort the website out ASAP. I had to call not long after as I totally forgot I needed cash for delivery. Unfortunately we were unable to go and get cash as I was unable to leave my house due to injury, leaving me temporarily bed bound. They were brilliant in allowing me to pay by phone (not something they usually do) and I'm very grateful. The food was amazing and I go to Red Chilli as I love the Paratha, which so far I haven't seen on any other Indian takeaway menus. Thank you Red Chilli

Tried oysters for the first time here and I am glad I did! It was a fantastic experience.
We got the half dozen, which offers two of each variety of their oysters (great for a couple) and saves £4 compared to ordering them individually. Purists will probably laugh at me but you MUST try the baked oyster in spicy tartare sauce. Absolute banger!
They have two happy hours where the drinks are £5 each but do take a proper look at the menu for a better idea of what’s on offer.

The service is friendly and welcoming and it seems the staff are very familiar with the locals, so if you’re a tourist you might find they half expect you to know how everything works. They’re not eager to seat you or let you know you should order at the bar.

Love how dog friendly this place is!

Are you looking at reviews to see if its worth coming to this pub? Read on if you want or just stop wasting time and biok right now.
We stopped here without a reservation on the night before NYE, figuring it won't be that busy. They were fully booked, but were so accommodating to us, straight away got us a table for 2 and said we had a 90min slot which really is plenty of time for a meal.
The beers were spot on ?. We had a pint of Rattlers and an amber ale from their own brewery (on a par with Doom Bar).
We ordered Fish n Chips, which was locally caught haddock and was served with some kind of homemade secret recipe garlic tartare sauce which is just genius and a fish pie which totally satisfied the taste buds yearning for that mix.
The price was great and the old pub has kept its looks and secret corners up, making it a nice intimate place to eat and drink instead of the dinner hall feel of some other places.
I've marked it on here as a place to return to next time we're back at that end of Cornwall.

Driving along the coast from Penzance to Newlyn was an absolute pleasure. It had been decades since my last visit, and it’s just as stunning as I remember—an ideal spot to savour some freshly battered fish. Parking was a bit limited near the chippy, but fortunately, a small public car park was just a couple of doors away. The shop itself was clean and well-kept, and the staff were polite and welcoming.

I ordered the lemon pepper cod, fried in a dry, seasoned batter. The fillet was thick, fresh, and perfectly spiced. I also tried the regular battered cod, which was equally delicious with its light, crispy coating. The chips were thick, fairly crispy, and served in generous portions. Both the curry sauce and mushy peas were exactly as expected from a traditional fish and chip shop—simply spot on.

Had the most amazing meal there for my husbands birthday. From start to finish it was a lovely experience. The atmosphere is relaxing, the decor is just the right side of eclectic, and the staff are very friendly and attentive without hovering. They understand the menu and could recommend accordingly. The food was delicious. For starters we had the Cornish crab nachos - which sounded like an odd combination but we fancied trying it - which were surprisingly tasty, worked really well together, and very generous. We also had the smoked ribs which had a strong smoked flavour and quite a piquant sauce, they were extremely tasty. For mains we had the duck - it fell off the bone and was mouthwatering - and the special of sea bass - which was cooked to perfection with a super crisp skin but moist and juicy flesh. Even the chips were spectacular- possible the crispiest chips we’ve ever eaten. We didn’t have room for desert, but the ones we saw being brought out looked delightful. We passed our compliments on to the chef (who I believe was called Gareth) and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Highly recommend people trying it.

I ate at the Boatshed twice during my stay, on the first evening I had the meat free burger but booked to go back on my final evening as I wanted to try the quinoa burger - my experience was equally great on both occasions and I'd definitely put the Boatshed on my list of places to eat again next time I'm in Penzance.\n\nI would say the quinoa burger was among the best vegetarian burgers I've ever had - as an idea they can be very variable depending on the chef and these were first rate, with a wide variety of pieces of vegetable mixed in (I'm pretty sure I spoted beetroot, yellow pepper and small broad beans in mine). Served with great chips, and peas which were done to exactly the right degree.\n\nThe service was great, on both occasions - exactly the right balance between being on top of spotting when a diner needed something and letting alone.

Absolutely fabulous little restaurant. Our meal was lovely (up there with my best Indian choices!) We had Chilli Paneer and Chicken Chaat Puri for starters then Afghani Lamb and Kari Mirch Murgh for mains with rice and naan. Both meats were cooked exceptionally well and meals were both really tasty. You take your own wine and they brought us water out to accompany our meal. Staff are attentive and very friendly. Me and my partner stopped by in the evening for a cakes and drinks, the flavoured specialty hot chocolate and salted caramel cake was very delicious. Stopped here on the way home from seeing the Christmas lights at Mousehole. I very rarely go to Penzance now so wasn’t sure what to expect but was blown away! The fish was beautifully cooked and the batter was crispy and tasty. Chips were excellent too. We also had mushy peas and curry sauce, and it might well have been the best curry sauce I’ve ever had! \n\nThe service was also brilliant, staff very friendly, helpful and quick despite the busy December evening and what seemed like several large orders coming in all at the same time. Will definitely come here again!

We've eaten in and ordered delivery a lot of times now, and will definitely be back again - I cannot recommend this place enough.
It is so friendly and welcoming.
Good tasty food at reasonable prices and portions. The Naga lamb is my favourite - consistently good flavour and spice and melt in the mouth lamb.
The lamb madras was a good level of spiciness and the lamb was perfectly cooked and very tender. We've also had chicken tikka bhuna, sag paneer, mutter paneer, sheek kebab and bindi bhaji. All were excellent.
The person on the phone for delivery is always clear in repeating back our order. Nice to see easily recyclable tin trays (and plastic ones where needed).
Delivery always arrives in the time frame we were told or sooner. The delivery people are very friendly. Cash on delivery. We look forward to ordering from here again.

Visited for brunch as a group of 4 adults and a 3yo. We all had either small or regular Cornish breakfasts and a few breakfast items for our daughter. The food itself was pretty good however we felt the hogs pudding lacked flavour compared to what we have previously had elsewhere. Also at £15 for the regular breakfasts and the cost of a few individual items for a child we felt that it wasn't quite as good value for money as other places we have visited due to the size and quantity of breakfast items included. We are a family of pasty connosours ? For over 35 years we have been visiting Cornwall, staying in Hayle and therefore we are big fans of the famous Philps Bakery.

Today we visited Mounts Bay Pasty Company in Penzance.

We were welcomed by two really friendly ladies, one who had not long returned from maternity leave (sorry didn't catch your name)

We purchased two standards, a steak and stilton, a lamb and mint and a sausage roll. These came with free doughnuts and cookies!

I have to say, these are outstanding and I have to say, they even beat Philps! The pasty was so tasty and buttery but not too flaky. Really fairly priced and so delicious I don't know which I liked the best.

We will almost certainly be back!

Walking into the terrace was just the uplift I needed. 2 girls behind the counter with fab personalities. They were fun and through their vibe got me playing a game. 4 second game. I failed, just, but they let me off. I go into many places around the UK and have great experiences(some not, but hey) these girls had energy and a vibe that made me want to work there! The coffee is local, (another very cool member staff offered this information-great knowledge) tasted good. The sandwich was delicious. Whoever owns this place should be chuffed with their staff. This sort of calibre is hard to find. Keep this culture going x

Fantastic value for freshly cooked fish and chips.
We tried the cod, chips, mushy peas, gherkin and a battered sausage (not a jumbo size). The amount of food was enough to share between two people.
You can either sit in or takeaway. Sitting in means you get the sauces for free at the table. Otherwise they cost 45p per sauce to takeaway.
It’s a family run place and the customer service is warm and friendly.

A lovely community cafe and extremely reasonably priced. Lovely atmosphere. Great toilets even for disabled. Inclusive setting. Lovely hot chocolates and coffee. Oat milk available for those with allergies or needs, and using a well known brand. Lovely cakes. Will definitely go back for a breakfast. My friend Carole introduced me today to this place and I can't thank her enough. Hidden gem of Penzance. Friendly service too.

Was staying in pendeen and drove to Newlyn twice to get food from here. Based on reviews and encouraged by the cash only business approach (cash is king) I had no regrets. The satay chow mein was really nice and plentiful. The Beef curry was the best I've had in years and melted in the mouth. Rice is nice and fresh and not at all greasy with plenty of large king prawns which were delicious. The service is top notch and they know what they are doing here. Simple to order and they are very on the ball. I got there at 5pm on opening and ppl were calling orders in strait away and several ppl came in within minutes, which is a good sign of a decent Chinese takeaway. Highly recommend this place, but don't expect delivery or card payment. Support cash only businesses all the way. Wish this place was my local Chinese takeaway.

Just bought and ate 5 pasties. 2 Flaky pastry steak, 2 Cheese and vegetable, and one short crust steak. General opinions in the family are that this is top tier delicious as good as anything you'll have anywhere pasties.
The flaky pastry was crisp and delicious, a stand out alteration to the regular short crust. But the filling was also top notch. The steak was delicious and generous, less peppery than many other pasties but in no way disappointing. For me, maybe my favourite Cornish pasty ever. The cheese pasties basically just substitute cheese for steak and I stole a taste and they were really good.
If you're in this part of the world, make the detour to this stonking good pasty shop.
There are cakes and sausage rolls and drinks available too, but this is just a straight up pasty review. 10/10, 5/5, 100/100.

But be warned if you sleep light not in any fault of the hotel the road outside can be noisy after hours from local pubs and general goings on. If I get a chance to return would maybe look for room away from room or higher in building.
