I visited Waves cafe recently, hoping for a pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately, our visit was the absolute opposite! If I could leave a zero stars review I would.Upon entering, we were met with an uncomfortable atmosphere, as the only customers in the cafe.To our disappointment, the menu's fish-based meals were unavailable, and when I requested a smaller portion size from the children’s menu (due to my recovery from stomach surgery) the owner himself approached our table and proceeded to chastise me, refusing to accommodate my request and displaying a confrontational attitude. It's worth noting that I had offered to pay full price for a smaller portion, effectively requesting to pay an adult portion price for a child’s portion. Despite this, I was accused of trying to “bankrupt” the owner, which was both unwarranted and disheartening. When leaving, and still listening to his continued chastisement, I mentioned to the owner that this behaviour might be a reason why his cafe was empty, to which he replied that it was just because there are “no customers around”. However, we soon discovered several busy places on Causeway Head as we left, eventually finding a lovely lunch spot with a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere.I had heard other people warn me about difficult experiences at Waves cafe, but I didn’t think that the rumours could be entirely accurate. Unfortunately, they were more than correct!Avoid if you’re looking for high quality personable customer service, you won’t find it here.

We only popped in for ‘Elevenses’ but wish it’d been breakfast…or lunch! The service was efficient and very friendly, the menu excellent (terrific variety of eating options) and the food tasty, with impressive portions (the sausage sandwich was truly a mouthful!). The place is decorated really nicely, it has a calm atmosphere.…and a very handsome young fella serving behind the drinks counter, and who wouldn’t appreciate that! Highly recommend.

Had excellent crab sandwich for lunch. Good selection on the menu and some nice looking cakes - which I resisted on this occasion.

Have eaten here many times, in fact we eat here whenever we are in Penzance. Great food and very good service. The staff here have never been anything less than polite and helpful. If they do sell up they will be a hard act to follow.

Truly excellent! My wife had ( admittedly) the most expensive crab sandwich she had ever had at £17.95 but it was THE best crab sandwich. Filled to the brim and as fresh as a daisy. Worth every penny. Equally my fish and chips were very special too. The fish was superb and the (I guess) triple cooked chips were excellent too. Same price as the sandwich and again value for money. Take the trouble to find Waves; you won’t be disappointed!!

My friend has been raving about waves for weeks, and we finally got there together today. We both had the most delicious roasted veg, pesto, and mozzarella ciabatta served with a rocket leaf salad. We both took home a slice of lemon and blueberry cake too! We will most certainly return for the friendly atmosphere and fabulous food ?Vegetarian options: Delicious food ?

Return visit on holiday in Penzance. This is still an excellent cafe/restaurant, perfect for lovely tasty lunches and teas. The food is extremely good and cooked to perfection. There is a wide selection of drinks too. Service was superb. The young man on the till making the drinks is a fantastic guy!

We’ve been here before on previous holidays and always been wowed by both the quality of the food and the quality of the service. Delicious toasted sandwiches and drinks and friendly helpful staff. Wonderful!

2 15 pm with 5 completely empty tables and more preparing to leave we wanted Drinks, puddings and coffeesbut were turned away as we wouldn't comit to a full lunch. We are local and one fairly regular. Doesn't deserve to be in business. Noted it is for sale any prospective buyer has a mountain to climb to reestablish a business
