We stayed locally so thought we’d give it a go despite the very mixed reviews. Unfortunately our experience was much more inline with the 1 star reviews than the 5 stars. My guess is it must be a bit hit and miss depending on who is working and how busy it is.They are cash only despite it saying they accept debit cards on the linked website. The chips weren’t too greasy in my opinion but definitely had a beefy taste which lingered for a long time after eating. The haddock had the perfect amount of batter for me (not too much) but the fish was undercooked and slimy so I couldn’t eat it all. There were not many hot vegetarian options and the chips may well have been fried in beef dripping by the taste.Ordering system was a bit odd but worked ok;Walk in and when asked, place your order for hot food with the lady behind the frier (not the lady behind the till) then only when summoned to the till area later, you can add anything else to the order and pay with cash, then there is another wait for the food. The staff seemed nice enough and there are some tables and chairs against the wall but I wouldn’t really want to stay and eat in.Overall a disappointing experience but it wouldn’t take much to make it good…Vegetarian options: Not much on offer for vegetarians and you may want to ask what they cook the chips in as they taste a bit beefy…

We had fish and chips from here last week, along with friends. Basically they cooked what we wanted while we waited, so everything was nice and hot. The service was really pleasant and the food was lovely. They also added some batter pieces to our order, which were really tasty and added to the lovely meal.

Absolutely beautiful chippy!! We’ve tried them all and this one is outstanding. Old fashioned chippy no cardboard boxes!! No flash shop! Just perfect chips and banging fish!! My mum in law had them and refused to put salt and vinegar on them. She didn’t want to spoil them. The only thing is my hubby is scared of the lady that works behind the counter!!! He swears she doesn’t like him no idea why ??? it wasn’t reflected in our chips and fish or the portions♥️ Oh and no inflated prices either!!Vegetarian options: Ask and they will sort it for youDietary restrictions: Just ask they willSort it!!Kid-friendliness: Nice options for kiddiesWheelchair accessibility: Easy in and out

Absolutely horrified at the service today! The staff were extremely rude and unwelcoming! A customer even walked out due to the attitude of the staff! I think the owner needs to check his staffs attitude as people are leaving! I was left humiliated and embarrassed by being reprimanded infront of a large queue of customers as I was not aware you had to order different parts of your meal from different sections of the chip shop! Absolutely disgusting service! We would NEVER return! The chips are dripping with grease, the fish is dry and the batter surrounding the sausage and fish is well out of proportion! Obviously cutting corners! I suggest avoid at all costs! The picture attached is the batter off the dry fish!!??

After looking at the positive reviews on this chip shop we travelled from Newquay. There seemed to be some rules to ordering which were unknown to holiday makers so we were accused of queue jumping! There seemed to be a real reluctance to serve visitors. Once we got the order back, it was very greasy, the fish was dry with more batter than fish. The chips were cemented to the paper with grease. The whole meal was very poor quality. We will not use again.

Fish n chips…twice in a week? Yep that was us!!! This chippy has queues outside the door and once you’ve tried them, it is clear to see why. The batter is on point, the chips are a mixture of soft and crunchy and the added bonus of having some crackling in with your portion is just amazing!! I’m from London and we know a thing or two about a good fish supper but we’ve always had the best in Cornwall. Fried in dripping and you can tell…takes me back to being a kid! Highly recommend and if you don’t fancy queuing, you can always go in the Ring of Bells next door and grab a swift pint whilst you wait.

I found this chip shop by mistake and wish I had not bothered. Attendants in shop didn’t even speak or smile when I walked into an empty shop. After about 5 mins they asked me if I had ordered and I was then served. Chips were hard and horrible. Worst chips I have ever had.
