This place was just what we needed. A place to rest, relax and regroup. The people who worked there were friendly and so helpful. The front desk had great ideas for day hikes and other local places to visit. You could also just enjoy the beautiful grounds. Thank

Beautiful tranquil location where the only sounds at night were some owls. Food was good with some great special dishes both traditional and from abroad. A very quiet and relaxing place to be.

Visited again the same week as last year. Upgraded to a beautiful room overlooking the pool. Thanks very much! It was spotlessly clean. The large sleigh bed has a mattress that is like sleeping on clouds. Tea and coffee facilities in the room, ask for more if you drink it all( I do like a cuppa). The breakfast is delicious, you can have a traditional english breakfast with good quality produce. The scrambled egg this morning was gorgeous. There is also a variety of choices to eat. The bar is available. Just ask staff, and sit in the beautiful semi rural garden with your G&T or the lounge in the usual British weather. The you in peace. If you want something or you have a question, they will help. If you have the need to question something, then do whatever it is, they will help. Sadly, hotels such as this, cost huge sums to run and deserve to be well-supported to allow them to continue. Try it out....you will return home well rested and cared for

Polite and friendly welcome to this exceptionally clean and nicely decorated hotel. Comfortable good sized room in a quiet countryside setting. Loverly food served in dinning room or lounge aria near bar , Again quiet, comfortable with polite and friendly service from local staff. Good location for mid north cornish coast or in fact any part of central Cornwall. Only there for 2 nights but would happily stay longer another time to explore gardens, local walks and other attractions. Excellent all round!

The hotels exterior and interior is lovely, some really interesting art work and photographs. The booking at the hotel was made for four nights dinner bed and breakfast and we assumed that the high price being charged would be a reflection of the standard of the hotel. a deposit was paid and the full cost was fully paid 14 days before arrival. The room we needed was for a less than able-boded husband, ground floor room, space to move around and a good size bathroom with walk in shower. Our room fitted the bill perfectly. Unfortunately the restaurant side of the hotel bore no resemblance to photographs of dishes shown on your page which I notice are stamped 2017. The menu was limited and resembled a failing city pub. Most items were served with chips, a lot were fried. Each day a special was offered one of which was Beef and Ale suit pudding served with extra gravy and with salad leaves and chips. Vegetables were eventually offered but the carrots in the mixed veg were still cold . Every thing about the restaurant says rationing , from 1 piece of toast to the tiny ramakin of peas served with scampi and chips. I am happy to pay a price for good food, a good choice and presentation but in this case the menu seemed to resemble items that could be purchased from a mediocre catering company, ready prepared and frozen. The restaurant completely failed to live up to the very high standard of the rest of the hotel.

We returned to The Rose in Vale for the third time in June 2021. We spent our honeymoon here. We were celebrating our Golden Wedding. Nice room, our dog was made welcome. No sign of any owners being on site. Food was very average, the food in the pub up the road was more appetising. On our actual anniversary we took along a bottle of fizz we had been given, thinking to offer glasses to our fellow diners; however, there were just the two of us & the management wanted £12 (yes, £12) corkage - the fizz probably didn't cost that much! All in all a very disappointing experience for our 50th anniversary - not the same standards as we found in 1971 or on our second visit in the 90's.

Wonderful setting in Mithian! Great pool ( solar heated) Friendly and helpful staff throughout our stay. The weather was so good, we were sad to leave. The hotel well and truly exceeded our expectations and we've no idea why we haven't been before. Highly recommended!

We have just returned from a fantastic 2 night break at this amazing hotel. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The rooms were the quietest we stayed in throughout our weeks break touring the South West. We took advantage of the evening meals on each night and were extremely impressed by the quality and variety. In particular the specials were inspired and delicious, a fusion of cantonese and western style starters were offered which demonstrated the chefs ability to produce some really tasty dishes. The hotel rooms were very clean and the outside gardens were so peaceful to walk around or just to sit and relax with just the bird song for company. The location was perfect for us with beaches and towns within easy reach. We will definately be back when we need a relaxing break. Steve and Elaine, Newbury, Berkshire

Just come back from a pre Easter break having spent four nights there. Having spent time there on short breaks and work in the area in the distant pass, it was nice to see how everything has changed (or not1) A wonderful approach to the hotel in the middle of the country - as senn from the picture. The entrance was no longer as pictured but a more serviceable one nearer to the ample car park. Took advantage of their spring break offer (bed, breakfast and two course a la carte dinner. Warmly welcomed by all the staff during our stay. A bit quiet as this was the first week of opening after winter refurbishment of some rooms - but this did not detract from our stay. Food was excellent and 'specials' were offered on all nights. A bit early for the outdoor heated swimming pool (end of May). A real country retreat in the middle of Cornwall - well worth taking the time and trouble to find!

We enjoyed our stay here at The Rose in the Vale. It is ideal for those who who want to get to Perranporth, Newquay, Falmouth, St Ives and Truro in a short period of time.Needs a fresh kick of paint but businesses are struggling everywhere so understand why this kind of expense is last on the list. The grounds are lovely and there is an outdoor pool .The staff are attentive and pleasant If it's peace and quiet your after, then the Rose it's for you.?

We stayed at this hotel for a family wedding. The beds are so comfortable and the room was lovely and warm. There were quite a few spiders in the room, but it was spider season at the time! This is an old Manor house with a vintage vibe. The breakfast was lovely and the surrounding grounds peaceful. There is one pub in walking distance but other than this the hotel is in a secluded location and you would need a car to get to anywhere else during your stay.

Stunning quiet location, staff are helpful and friendly. Rooms very clean and well kept. Grounds are spacious and semi rural. Seating area outside and around outside pool. Ideal for a peaceful break

Very poor value for money. Decor very bland and not stylish or sophisticated, as one might have expected from views of exterior and the cost - could have been in any cheaper hotel pillows very thin and hard - did ask if they had any others and were given more normal puffy pillows - but why start with hard thin pillows when paying this sort of price 'due to covid' room was only cleaned every 2 days - even rubbish bin not emptied every day - really shocking given the price. atmosphere - lacking breakfast was ok - but exactly the same every day - eg. tinned grapefruit in a bowl every day - for the amount they charge per night - one would have expected fresh fruit and a variety of things for breakfast. The cooked breakfast options were good. Didnt have dinner having read the bad reviews about the food at dinner. Staff were pleasant. Outdoor pool was very cold (heated by solar panels) and smaller than it looks in photos - a couple of sunbeds with no matresses (weather patchy so maybe why) Setting was very quiet. Generally - really overpriced for what you get - had hoped for a bit of luxury but was mediocre

We have stayed twice at the lovely hotel and not been disappointed. The Magor Room/Apartment was perfect for our needs and will book again for 2024 . The breakfast meals were cooked to our requirement and were of high quality and good proportions. The staff were very friendly and provided a first class service and went out of their way to help us find unusual places to visit to enhance our time spent in the endlessly amazing Cornwall experience.
