Had a meal. Couldn't fault the service, effort the team went to to make us comfortable of the environs. Very, very enjoyable evening in a historic building. Just disappointed that we didn't see it during the daytime to experience the lovely gardens. Oh well...it gives us an excuse to go back. Which we will! Thank you Amy and team for looking after us so well.Walkability: We could have walked, we decided not to as it was dark and the Bodmin Road can be fast. I bet during the summer when visibility is better, walking to the Waterwheel from St Austell would make for a pleasant start and end to an evening.Food & drinks: Good range of drinks behind the bar, nice comfy bar area for relaxing in a lounge style setting. Dining room is airy, yet cosy. Food of good quality. With warning, were able to offer two vegan choices. Menu varied without offering too much to affect quality.

Great B&B set in amazing grounds just outside St Austell. Hospitable hosts and great food both for evening meal and breakfast. Would

Absolutely beautiful location with a stunning garden and lovely rooms. Despite being the only guests, the staff still made sure we had the full experience available to us - including bar and restaurant - and couldn't have been happier to make our stay wonderful. Wouldn't look anywhere else in Cornwall for future accommodation!

Absolutely beautiful B&B, with lovely clean rooms, amazing food, and the most gorgeous garden with ponds and giant ferns. They were really welcoming and we loved the balcony view out to the garden.Safety: Rural location, so seemed pretty safe to me.Walkability: 10-15 minute walk into St. Austell, paved the whole way.Food & drinks: Amazing food, including the breakfasts—hot food as well as a buffet of things like cereals and yoghurts available. The night we had dinner there we couldn’t finish everything but had to take the rest to the mini fridge in our room because it was too good to let go to waste.Noteworthy details: The amazing garden out the back of the restaurant area.

Whilst staying for 2 nights we ate in the Waterwheel restaurant both evenings. Superb food on both occasions (and breakfasts too) and excellent service from friendly owners and their staff who couldn't do enough for you. All dietary requirements catered for. I'd highly recommend it.Our room was well equipped with a choice of feather or synthetic pillows, sockets exactly where you want them and a fabulous en suite shower. The only downside was a squeaky mattress.Noteworthy details: The hotel has a superb garden to explore that leads to a local landmark, easy walking distance but only suitable for those who are sure footed

Called for a meal but was to early, booked up until 8 pm. Noticed tree furns and asked if this was part of the hotel. Yes please take a look welcome was the response. WOW beautiful. Had a glass of wine whilst walking round. Thankyou, will definitely call again, appears very homely and I can imagine the food would be great to.?

Can't comment on the rooms as we were only passing guests for dinner but if the rooms are on par with the restaurant I would say they'd be very good. A lovely setting with very friendly staff. The food was really good with a classic array of options such as Scampi, Steak and Kidney pudding, Burger, Steak etc but all well prepared and hot. The bill was very reasonable as well. Thoroughly recommend

Just back from a lovely couple of days here. Everything was perfect, except for the weather, which we couldn’t blame them for! The service was brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and the room was comfortable. An amazing garden to walk down. We will definitely be returning - hopefully when the weather has improved.

Having e mailed this restaurant both via its web site and in reply to an earlier e mail from them I telephoned to see if the messages had been received and if the two restaurant bookings requested could be confirmed. The "lady" who answered the phone was unhelpful and asked at one stage what room I was enquiring about. ( A room with a table for two obviously!!) She also informed me she was busy waitressing. Having phoned earlier in the day with no response and no message service there is little choice but to phone when there is someone there. I informed her that based on her responses I would prefer to eat elswhere. Very poor.
