WOW!!! Had no idea this would be so great! We had the best meal I've had in months. The quality of the food is astounding. This little off the beaten path pub is quite the superb gourmet without the pretention. I can't recommend it more highly. It's absolutely excellent and delicious. I literally wanted to keep going. The staff are superb and it's a beautiful place. If you're in this area you'd be mad not to go. I guarantee you'll love the quality of food. We all thought it was brilliant. Massive asset to the area. Well done. Flawless.

Visited in store recently for coffee and asked the lady at the till if all of the cakes apply for the free birthday slice from the app (it was my birthday, obviously) and she just simply said yes. They always seem quite grumpy at the shop inside the services which is a shame. I've worked in customer service and hospitality for years but even without this, surely it's just kind human nature to say happy birthday when someone goes into store and clearly scans the birthday cake reward?! Thought that was really bizarre. That said, I only popped in here because the drive thru was shut for a few days. I visit there weekly on the way to work and everyone there, everytime I go is always so lovely, friendly and chatty. They must recognise regulars and we have a bit of a natter whilst I'm paying - the drive thru is a credit to Costa!

Food is absolutely incredible! Had it twice in 1 week and nearly had it a 3rd time. The spring rolls filled with pork is delicious and full of flavour. Egg fried rice had lots of flavouring and didn’t taste bland or boring and the sweet and sour sauce was perfect.

Called here Thursday 7th August for dinner. \nThe pub is really nice and well kept.\n\nI had tuna mayo jacket potato which comes with a side salad and ate the lot, it was lovely. Where do you go on a cold wet night in St Austell? Our local friends had the answer - the Watermargin Chinese restaurant in one of the back roads of the town. It looked nothing much from the outside and fairly simple table settings on the inside - but we all agreed it was the best Chinese feast we have had in many a year. \n\nThere were ten of us aged from 3 to 88 in our party and every single one agreed that the service, quality of food and its presentation was first rate. The waitress even showed the three year old how to use chopsticks - and he tucked away merrily with them to devour everything that was put before him.\n\nA vast choice on the menu - something for everyone. Freshly cooked and came at a sensible pace. Some us tried the set meals which were excellent and well balanced. \nworth going out of your way to have a meal here - or takeaway if you prefer.

I’m not one for leaving reviews but I just had to after the fabulous service I received from the manager. We’ve recently discovered that my daughter is lactose intolerant which means that she misses out on most things that she previously loved. Last night everyone fancied Domino's for dinner which is usually a problem for her so I decided to call and see what we could do. Ronan (I think) said ‘no problem, I can put normal toppings on a plant based pizza for her and I’ll add a note on your account so that you come through to me when you order’. My daughter absolutely loved her pizza and said it tasted no different!! Thanks so much Ronan!! You’ve made her very happy (which is a challenge for a teenager lol)

Incredible! We stopped in here after walking part of the costal walk. It was on my list to try and we were not disappointed at all. The food and drinks were DELICIOUS! It was busy but we were able to get a table indoors, plenty of seating outside.

I had their oat flat white (amazing), hash brown bites and cinnamon roll. My fiancé had one of their smoothies, granola bowl and a slice of their banana bread. The food was outstanding! Really fresh and quickly served. The bakery bits were lovely ??tried to save them for later but wasn’t able to resist.

Had a lovely Sunday roast here today.

We booked via their Facebook page and they were very prompt with their responses and very polite.

We were greeted and seated quickly and given enough time to settle in before taking our drink orders. Service was excellent and efficient and we felt that nothing was too much for them.

Food was amazing with a wide range of veggies all cooked to perfection. The standard size roast dinner is huge and a total bargain with a generous serving of our chosen meats. Yorkshire puds nearly the size of our plates ?

Throughout all of our time here we experienced a lovely warm atmosphere with genuine and likeable staff including the locals. Thank you all for making us feel at home.

had a Sunday dinner there today absolutely outstanding value for money and I do not say this slightly as I have had many a Sunday dinner in Cornwall as I live here and cannot be bothered to cook a Sunday dinner anymore for just one person.
Pub is dog friendly to the point they have water and dog food sat on a high self for dogs who can’t bend over all for free.
From outside seems a little rough, I can assure you it is far from that, the Landlord and his wife and staff customers in there probably one down to earth old-fashioned type pubs that you would want to go into.

Stumbled on this one trying to get away from the busier areas. Noticed their sign at the bottom of the hill.
Run by volunteers, friendly, good value and food (brie and bacon in granary bun), plus coffee tea and cake all tasty. Limited opening days so check first, we just happened to go on a Friday (11/07/25) and it was open. Generally it's Friday & Saturdays at present but as I say, check ahead.

Excellent gluten free steak pasty! Great with cross contamination if you have Coeliac disease. The GF pasties are made in a gluten free kitchen and heated up in their packet. We dropped into the Sawles Arms for a few drinks on the first night of a short stay in a holiday cottage just down the road on the early May bank holiday. We enjoyed it so much we came back again, every night of our stay! The owner, bar staff and locals could not have been any nicer, it is so rare to find a pub like this where everybody is so genuinely welcoming and friendly. They gave us some great ideas for local events happening in the area we would have missed and it was great to share a few evenings with such great characters. The pub really cares about the quality of the drinks they serve and I had the best pints of Guinness I’ve enjoyed for a long time.

Parking is perhaps a bit limited but I have had no issues and disabled access is OK too. All in all I would say its a nice village chippy which seems to be quite community based, there are a few tables there so presumably you can eat in although I have only purchased takeaway.

Just amazing service from the young man who took our order, so helpful and polite, even when we had to do the credit card machine twice!
As for the food it was truly the best we have had in years!! Fish fresh and cooked well, Burger was tasty, well cooked, and chips were not greasy, but like you try to achieve at home crispy outside fluffy inside, we both enjoyed.
We had given up trying to find takeaway, but will definitely be back even though it’s over an hours drive.

We had such a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel. The rooms are absolutely stunning, each one uniquely decorated with so much charm and character — truly quaint and full of personality. The service was outstanding; every member of staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. The hotel itself is gorgeous, and the atmosphere feels both relaxing and special. The food was another highlight — absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a memorable stay.

This a very nice, small hotel and Inn in a very convenient location for St Austell and area. Recently extended and in perfect condition. Our room was modest in size and but excellent. Shower room was top hotel quality. Great service and outstanding breakfast
