The Longstore
Charlestown Harbour, Saint AustellAbsolutely incredible food, service and atmosphere. The Menu has something for everyone. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable and happy, nothing was too much trouble. We had our starter (scallops) off the specials menu, beautifully cooked and presented. I had the lamb for main, literally every mouthful was divine. Managed to squeeze in a desert, just, oh wow. Thank you to all the staff for an amazing evening, especially the unsung heros in the kitchen. Keep doing your magic, it clearly works, well done.

Moustache Jacks
2 Biddicks Ct, Saint AustellMy husband and I popped in for a late lunch. He had Jack's XL English Breakfast (w/o mushrooms or tomatoes, as he doesn't like them) and I had the Philly Cheese Steak toastie and fries. Mine came with a bit of coleslaw and it was really good...the gerkins (pickles because I'm an American) were sweet but I prefer mine dill (sour) . We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Service was good. I was disappointed to learn that they only do takeaway on the evenings they are open. We don't live that close to St Austell and would have loved to make this a date night out. But we do recommend Moustache Jack's.

McDonald's
Cornish Gateway Services, Saint AustellOne of the best McDonald’s I’ve visited and we do get around as a family. We always visit Cornwall services MD as the atmosphere is lovely, the restaurant is bright airy and clean and we can always find somewhere to sit. The staff are helpful and diligent and food arrives reasonably quick. Cannot bear fast food venues that are overcrowded and noisy, but this one has a nice balance of customers and ambience, probably as Cornwall services in general offers so many other choices of food venues, we still always choose MD though ;)

St Austell Kebab
41 High Cross St, Saint AustellThis place is actually really nice. Contrary to many other reviews the sizes are good and for the quality and portion size I think the prices are reasonable. Lots of choice and you can really make it your own. Just because it may look like somewhere you may not want to step foot in, after many times of being there that feeling has long gone. The staff are polite and they really aren't slow, I waited longer in McDonalds, and SAK have online orders too. That in itself has had its own fair share of bad reviews, but the prices on there other than other restaurants online are price matched to in-store, I checked. For reference a large wrap and donner kebab, chips and cheesy chips is the same price as a can, a litre bottle, and the above food minus the chips plus delivery. I think this is a good restaurant keeping non chain takeaways in a moderate market area reputable.

23 High Cross St, Saint AustellJust had a wonderful meal here. The Carclaze
St Austell Enterprise park, Treverbyn Rd, Carclaze, Saint AustellWe had breakfast, lunch and evening meals during our stay. Tegan, Tara and Ben were outstanding, they made us very welcome, the service was faultless, the food was fantastic at every point of the day, not only were the mentioned staff excellent with us they were excellent to all the guests in the pub whilst we were there, Tara's skill were faultless, she was welcoming people to their tables, taking drink and food orders, chatting politely to all customers and other staff members, Tegan on the bar was also faultless, Ben was around all the time checking everything was ok, also talking to the customers, We found it a very nice place to be as we were spending 3 days in st Austell for a family funeral, we stay in the same premier Inn and ate in the carclaze in November when we came down to see our sick relative, we had a lovely time then that's why we re booked, we will also be returning in the future, keep up the good work especially Ben, Tegan and Tara x

The fish Grill & More
Jetty St, Mevagissey, Saint AustellSome of the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time and endorsed by none other than Rick Stein himself! The fish was so fresh and tasted as if it had come straight from the boat, with batter that was so crisp and no sign of grease anywhere. I loved the sound of the trio of fish but, unfortunately, I didn’t pay attention when I ordered and only saw the trio of fish afterwards. I was particularly disappointed because I saw that scallops, my all-time favourite shellfish, were on the menu. The Fish Grill really is a seafood lover’s paradise for humans and birds alike, since there were a number of seagulls around, hovering in the hope of being able to swoop and snatch a bit of fish or the odd chip. Not a chance!

The Waterwheel
Bodmin Road, Trethowel , St AustellHad a meal. Couldn't fault the service, effort the team went to to make us comfortable of the environs. Very, very enjoyable evening in a historic building. Just disappointed that we didn't see it during the daytime to experience the lovely gardens. Oh well...it gives us an excuse to go back. Which we will! Thank you Amy and team for looking after us so well.Walkability: We could have walked, we decided not to as it was dark and the Bodmin Road can be fast. I bet during the summer when visibility is better, walking to the Waterwheel from St Austell would make for a pleasant start and end to an evening.Food & drinks: Good range of drinks behind the bar, nice comfy bar area for relaxing in a lounge style setting. Dining room is airy, yet cosy. Food of good quality. With warning, were able to offer two vegan choices. Menu varied without offering too much to affect quality.

Salty Bay Pizza Kitchen
Business Park, Saint AustellSuch a pleasant surprise when collecting our pizza on a cold, wet, windy night to find that the takeaway ordered from our Premier Inn room round the corner was not being despatched from the back of a faceless industrial unit but was being cooked in a warm, inviting restaurant and takeaway staffed by friendly, welcoming people who treated takeaway and restaurant customers equally well. The huge pizza oven glowed with fire and the efficient ordering system means you get your pizza when you expect it, no delays and no backed up stressed out staff. Fabulous fresh pizza, and the best house salad I've ever had. Attention to detail is amazing and rare. Included in the house salad were treats like griddled sweetcorn, freshly pickled red onion, spring onion, red piquant pepperillos and so much more, along with very fresh mixed interesting leaves, not a cheap inferior tasteless ingredient in sight. So glad to have found this as the 'restaurant' beside the Premier Inn was anything but welcoming and the menu overpriced for chill/cook pub grub. I asked the manager if there was space for two diners and when he had finished shouting at the staff he gruffly said 'you can take your chance if you like and order at the bar but I don't know if you'll find a table or how long it will be'. Off to Salty Bay then! On both nights of our stay. Also the path to the restaurant at Premier Inn was really dangerous with lots of loose slabs and I have balance any mobility issues. There is certain to be an accident there before the season is out. However the path and road up to Salty Bay were well lit and in excellent order which for a disabled person is a vital consideration. When my takeaway order was ready (prepaid) the staff brought it over to where I was sitting waiting which was really kind and the type of service it's so unusual to find these days. I also loved the plant rich decor. Just fabulous and I hope they continue to do as well as every deserve. Top marks all round.Vegetarian options: I'm not vegetarian but the options were so good I chose from the veggie menuDietary restrictions: I don't have any but seemed very good at dealing with these. Even if you can only eat salad it will be THE best salad you've ever had!Parking: FreeKid-friendliness: Looked very child friendly and chilledWheelchair accessibility: Good and even access

Canton, Gorran Haven, Saint AustellHad large cod and chips and mini cod and last night, my cod was really nice but my wife's mini cod was still partly frozen on one part so that's why I've given 4/5, being local this won't stop us from buying again, apologies for the moan.

The Galley
45 Charlestown Rd, Charlestown, Saint AustellSmall cafe with outside seating only but large umbrellas which kept us dry through the odd shower. We had crab sandwiches on granary bread which were delicious, white meat only, and beef, Cornish Brie and chutney, again delicious. You get so much filling and the bread was so fresh. Great coffee to. Would definitely eat there again and recommend others to do so.
