Probably the worst place we have ever eaten. When you consider we eat out half our lives due to workload, we have plenty of experience to benchmark accordingly, from Country pubs to Michelin stared. Even when you leave all three courses untouched, they do not question it!! Must be used to people leaving their food. Anywhere else would have asked if there was a problem. It’s like a scene from “Stepford Wife’s” in that restaurant! Appearance of food is good, however this is not mirrored by taste or quality. We were left gobsmacked at the Christmas meal, three small roast potatoes, four soggy and yet hard sprouts, 5 thin carrots, a small dog paw sized dobble of Turkey, 7 ultra thin parsnip slips. Enough for my cat! Shocking and not even nice. Quick service tho - fast food quick ?

One to avoid, we were here for 3 days, unfortunately over Christmas so alternative places to eat were not readily available, the first day we had the afternoon tea, for three of us it came to £75.00 and we were given pretty much what is shown on the leaflet (see photos). Each person had the equivalent of 2 slices of cheap white bread, 4 small cakes, a scone and a mince pie and a cup of coffee. Value for money? Absolutely not! We also had two evening meals, the first of which comprised the soup, the taste of which was akin to opening a can of plum tomatoes, blending it, adding a little too much salt, and some black pepper and voila. This was followed by sirloin steak. Which on the menu has “medium” next to it, now it was a concern when we weren’t asked how we would like it cooked, so we assumed it was medium or nothing, however upon arrival and attempting to cut into it, medium must refer to the hardness of it, it was inedible, the mashed potato tasted like it had been cooked a week ago and left to keep warm, so didn’t eat any of it, upon the waitress collecting the plate, you would expect to be asked if your meal was ok, but not a word, maybe they are used to people not eating the trash that is served up. Breakfast was equally bad, 5 small tinned mushrooms, an overcooked rasher of bacon, a chewy sausage, an overdone egg, a soggy hash brown and your standard catering baked beans. Finally Christmas Day dinner, at £85 you would expect a festive feast, I’m too depressed to go into the details, but review the photos, and no, I hadn’t eaten half of it when I took the photo.

Awful cooked breakfast and certainly not worth the £31 for the two of us. There was the cold buffet which looked ok but we decided to only have the cooked breakfast as we wouldnt manage to eat both - maybe thats our fault. But regardless the cooked breakfast was very disappointing, the bacon was hard and very very overcooked as was the hashbrowns - I am guessing that all the food was pre cooked and just kept warm either under a hot plate or in an oven. Needless to say we left most of it and for the following mornings we ate at King Arthurs Cafe in the village - great staff and great food. On a positive note we did eat dinner there and it was very good so maybe just different staff and skills ! The evening waitress we had was friendly and efficient but again the breakfast waitiress didnt even raise a smile or welcome.

We had dinner here while staying at the hotel. Food was delicious and good size servings. Grilled sea bass was amazing. Great wine list and the service was 5 star. Definitely recommended!

The view from the dining room is spectacular! The bread and butter was delicious! The rest of the meal, appetizers and entrees, was bland. Boring. The interior which might have been quite nice if it weren’t for the appalling glitter encrusted paintings and the glitter tree. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Tintagel and the view is spectacular.

This is a very grand looking dining room and bar in the hotel. That said it is a welcoming and very comfortable place with helpful and friendly staff. The menu may be a little limited but what they serve is very good. we had soup very tasty and fresh followed by a sea bass and venison both of which were very good and served with as portion of veg. All was served with happy friendly staff. A very comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Had dinner booked at 8 o clock. Very impressive dining room. The menu wasnt what Id call exciting but quite nice. My wife started with beetroot and goats cheese carpaccio and I had the pate both of which wete very nice. For mains I had beef rib which for the price was fine. Nothing spectacular but very nice. My wife had vegan red thai curry which was a clumpbof rice coveted in lots of carrots and no ssuce! She told the waiter that it was nothing like curry!! To be fair our waiter was brilliant. He was very apologetic and said we would not be charged for that meal. Bit of a shame but on the whole Id say thst the food is fairly good considering its not tgat expensive but maybe the chef should taste what hes cooking a little more!

Good quality, reasonably priced meals! We started with starters being Russian soup “ Borsch” and it was a generous portion of Borch I had “ Penne ala vodka” and sauce was delicious! My partner had buffalo salad and it was tasty , well presented and a good size Wines can be chosen from different menu if not a lover of French ones! Staff in the restaurant were very attentive and can’t ask for more !

No bathtub in family room but just a tiny toilet and shower room built in- no space to move around- looked and felt like an aeroplane wc. Our kids did not have a shower as they don’t like showers. Glad we stayed at another hotel day before where they were able to have a bath. Our stay was 2 days. When asked if we could borrow a bathtub for the kids I was sent to a bathroom, it was digusting! Breakfast was very limited and not worth the money. Not much available for children in the restaurant. We had no choice but to order only white rice for them as no childens choices were available. Our chikdren were hungry! Views were breathtaking but that is it. We paid over £500. Hotel was very tired and run down with brown boxes stacked up in the guest area ( living room). We wont be coming back again.

We booked an afternoon tea as the culmination of a weeks holiday for a birthday treat. The building is iconic and you feel quite special entering it, we had been looking forward to it all week. We arrived on time but there is a shortage of staff. We were seated promptly but after 15 minutes no-one had been to offer us tea, or anything. A group of about 15 had arrived, without a booking, and the 1 waitress was busy serving them. Our tea eventually arrived and a few more staff seemed to materialise. The tea and coffee and cakes were delicious. However, the sandwich element of the tea left a lot to be desired. We could have done with twice as many savouries and half as much cake - but no menu was available and we were not asked about any preferences. There were hardly enough for the whole group and the fillings were unimaginative. That is the first time - and I hope the last - that I get offered cold bacon left over from breakfast in a sandwich - yes, really! The waitress did her best, there was ample tea and coffee and any cakes not finished could be taken away in boxes, but all in all, I cannot rate the experience higher than a 2, which is a shame, as we really wanted to enjoy it. We would probably have been better opting for the lunch menu in hindsight, but maybe this is just teething problems.
