Visited the 1st of January afternoon. As referred on booking as nice at a nice price for that night. The receptionist, unfortunately, was very unfriendly and unhelpful so we just chose to go somewhere else. Shame as we were very tired and would have loved to have stayed.

Excellent food, served quickly for a large group despite being busy. Usual choice of pub grub but everyone cleared their plates!

It's absolutely amazing. It is a really lovely place to stay with a beautiful view from the restaurant area. My room was large with plenty of space. The bed was soooo comfortable, I slept without waking till morning and only just making breakfast, lol. Breakfast was amazing, really tasty, and cooked well. Thank you, Chef. I would recommend that you stay here. It's a wonderful place and I really enjoyed my stay. I would definitely come back and stay again. Many thanks for a wonderful night.

The restaurant manager was rude. I was spoken to like I wasn't worth his time and made to feel unwelcome.Christmas dinner - 19/12/23.After further contemplation because I am actually quite annoyed when thinking more about the visit. I would just like to add:I was charged full price of a pint for a shandy (half lager, half lemonade - £5.50). When I contested this, I was told by the barman that they don't do half pint lemonade, didn't want to argue, but probably the only pub in the UK that doesn't. Toilets were filthy (faeces literally on both toilet seats!). The starter was overcooked and tasteless on hard stale bread. Main not bad, it was a decent portion size but quite cold, barely luke warm, problem with heat lamps? (potatoes especially). Desert was basically a microwaved pudding from a supermarket's freezer section - £32.The contempt from the manager and barman really did it for me, though. Unprovoked, unexpected and unnecessary.

All of the staff were amazing tonight, they were fully booked (we were the last table). I decided to do this review after one member of staff shone out... All of the staff on tonight were attentive, polite, warming and just down right welcoming. We popped in for a quick meal and stayed fle 4+ hours due to the staff. They didn't look overworked or bored, they were more than happy to be of help (regardless of the rudeness from some customers.. which was pretty regular!) Freya especially shone out from most; her knowledge of cocktails and quickness of serving was spectacular. Everyone here deserves a thank you and well done but especially Freya. Ad a manager of my workplace, this is someone I would hire and expect to progress pretty dang fast. Thank you to all at County Arms. A hidden gem!!!!

Poor communication regarding the menu. I wanted a festive menu for Boxing Day and was sent that via email. When we arrived, we were told the festive menu had finished and we had to have the "set" pub menu. We asked for one meal to be vegetarian, there was only one option of falafal. When the food arrived it was cold and I complained, to which I was told, "oh sorry about that" nothing more! The people on 2 other tables also made complaints about cold food and availability of hot food to which they were told - "we're sold out of that" I have been here many times over the last ten years but I'm afraid this is our last. Very let down customer.

Me and my family have been coming to the County Arms for years now -and we think it’s the best carvery around . We go nearly every Sunday and also for Christmas dinner every year. Staff are amazing , always accommodating and there’s a lovely atmosphere ?

Excellent service and friendly staff, but unfortunately the food was very poor. It seems the cheapest ingredients are used. The scampi didn't have anything of substance in the fried breadcrumbs, the burgers very small and not very tasty and the chicken was not tasty. Sorry to say this as it was very welcoming but we came away very disappointed and although we've been many times as we're local, we wouldn't return.

I took my grandmother out for a Saturday lunch here. Service from a chap was lovely, he was very helpful and informative for any questions we had. The food came out promptly, was hot and well presented.I had the chicken burger, personally I didn’t like the type of bun it came in, as it was more like a bread texture than a traditional burger bun which is lighter. However this is personal taste and therefore won’t reflect on the review as it was all very nice! Fries were hot and not overly salted. My partner has the wrap and grandmother had Ham, Egg & Chips. The chips were chunky and crunchy, the ham thick and fresh. Eggs are eggs. But they were cooked and no uncooked egg goo on top!Table was clean, toilets were clean and prices were very reasonable for a St Austell Brewery owned pub.Excellent, we will be back again one day and would only recommend.Nearby activities: It’s a stones throw from Truro city centre, certainly walking distance.Food & drinks: I had the chicken burger, personally I didn’t like the type of bun it came in, as it was more like a bread texture than a traditional burger bun which is lighter.
