Bread & Butter (cafe in Truro)
20 & 24 River St, TruroCame to Truro for my birthday trip and this place was on my list to try their pancakes. Oh my gosh - Run don’t walk! They were so delicious and filling? I had the apple and cinnamon compote (had to add clotted cream obvs), my partner had the seasonal fruit pancakes. We also go the bread and butter pudding (had to wrap it up to go as we were filled up by the pancakes). I also had an oat flat white.
We got there mid morning without a booking and were able to sit outside in a covered booth. Service was great and the team were so lovely.

Malletts Home Hardware
6-7 Victoria Square, TruroIt is refreshing in this day and age to know that such stalwarts as Malletts store still exist. In an age where Customer Service often means ringing a group of people, hundreds or thousands of miles away, who do not understand your issue and cannot help, it’s wonderful that there is a company who still believe in good old-fashioned, respectful customer care. Mallets is such a company. I had cause to speak to them today with regard to an electrical item I required and their advice was invaluable. Robert handled my call and he was polite, respectful, listened to my request and advised me on the best options for my scenario. We need more companies like Malletts who believe in serving their customers to the best of their ability to find the best solution for their issue, rather than try and sell me something I don’t want, don’t need and won’t solve my problem. 100% top marks to Robert and Malletts, long may they remain in Truro! Thank you.

Kathmandu Palace
19A Old Bridge St, TruroReally like Nepalese food so opted for a takeaway on our first night in Truro - mainly based on the reviews. \n\nWe weren’t disappointed! Arrived 15 minutes before they opened, but really friendly staff still opened the restaurant early to allow my wife to order our takeaway (which we asked to be ready for an hour later as I wanted to go for a pint). Ready on our return, the food was excellent - and different (in a nice way) from Nepalese I’ve had before. \n\nSo good, we had a second takeaway later on our trip. This was just as good as our first. \n\nHighly recommended.

Dish Cornwall Limited
44 Tor Rd, NewquayDish catered for our wedding and it is the best food and service I have experienced at any event I have attended. Every single thing on the menu was delicious - we had canapes, starter boards, mains and 3 puddings - ranging from fresh crab, to calamari, to sirloin of beef, to out-of-this-world mini-sticky toffee puddings. They tailored our menu to exactly what we wanted and the presentation of their food is stunning. Sophie and her team are simply great people, and they go above and beyond to make sure that your special day exceeds your expectations. I cannot recommend Dish highly enough and I truly thank them for the huge part they played in the best day of our lives.

Mannings Bar & Restaurant
Mannings Hotel, 82 Lemon St, TruroStaff were very friendly.
This is a good place to stay if you are going to the Hall for Cornwall to see a show.
Not that good if you have mobility issues. We were on the second floor and had 4 lots of stairs to walk up.
No lift.
Our room was big and quite which was good but the bathroom very tired the sink was dirty. The TV was not easy to watch as there was a double bed and a single bed in the room and the TV was in the middle making it hard to see from the double bed.
No complementary biscuits but did have tea and coffee.
Breakfast was ok we have had better and frustrating you could only have a cooked breakfast if you paid for it. Other guests mentioned this as well. We have stayed in some great places with a great breakfast menu included with no extra cost. I suppose you have to weigh up the convince of where the hotel is.
You can always walk over to Weather spoons they do a good cooked breakfast.
I have had a great evening meal here with friends.

10 Kenwyn St, TruroMy partner & I had a fantastic couple of meal here. The owner, Sunny, was very lovely and can help you save a lot of money if you ever wish to visit Nepal. He employs really good chefs from far and wide. This is Nepalese, so it's slightly different from Indian, as some of the negative reviews here are talking about. This food is very vibrant and uses more fresh ingredients rather than dried powders. Top marks. Wish I lived close enough to go more regularly!

Callestick Ice Cream Parlour
Cornish Ice Cream, Callestick Farm, Callestick, TruroGrowing up in Callestick, it has been nice to go home and see how it's changes, the car park is a lot more spacious with open field benches for families to enjoy whilst kids play on the equipment. There used to be animals in the car park courtyard but have sadly been removed.
I won a valentine's day prize for 2 via their Instagram page and was treated with a loaded shake, a choice of either a sundae or a hot waffle (I went for the hot waffle) and a 500ml tub of a flavour of your choice which I went for the triple chocolate ice cream! The price was for two so me and a good friend went there and was served by Caitlin who was friendly and always lovely to talk too! The atmosphere is quiet and friendly, especially in the sun outside. It's a shame the viewing room is closed but I understand when a small company gets bigger they need more space!!
It's always a pleasure coming back to Callestick as it brings me back to being a young child going for ice cream after school. Thank you for keeping Callestick ice cream farm going! It looks as beautiful as ever!
Wheelchair accessible, with vegetarian sorbet options too! The outside courtyard is always clean and everyone is lovely!
Dietary restrictions: If you're lactose intolerant, unfortunately there isn't mean options apart from the sorbet.

The Boathouse Restaurant
11 The Square, Portscatho, TruroA Luncheon of Legends: Toasties, Taster Soup, and the Transcendence of Tea & Cake
Ah, “taster soup” two simple words, yet the moment they graced my ears, my entire world shifted on its very axis. Not merely because I had been looking forward to it with the giddy anticipation of a child on Christmas morning, nor because it was to be served alongside a most resplendent honey ham and cheddar cheese toastie, accompanied, of course, by a crisp selection of, well, crisps, and a dainty yet dutifully assembled side salad, but because I found myself bewildered that more establishments have not embraced this stroke of culinary genius.
Pioneers, these café folk. True visionaries, charting a course through the uncharted waters of lunchtime perfection. Not mere trendsetters, but artisans, sculpting an experience so refined that one might call it a diamond, not in the rough, for this place gleams with its own self-assured brilliance, but a diamond perched elegantly upon a golden stretch of coastline, shimmering under the British sun (or, more likely, in that brief moment between clouds).
I was, to put it plainly, blown away. This was the quintessentially British luncheon, comforting, hearty, imbued with nostalgia, yet served with a quiet sophistication that made it all the more delightful. And just as I was slipping into a state of post-toastie reverie, contemplating the grand tapestry of life itself, I was met with a revelation that nearly sent me into raptures, they had coffee cake!
Before I could fully process the near-transcendental experience I had just undergone with my toastie, before I could float blissfully into the ether, I found myself presented with a perfectly portioned slice of coffee cake, delicate yet decadently rich, accompanied by a cup of tea so robust and full-bodied it practically stood up and shook my hand.
In summary, one of the finest, most utterly soul-satisfying lunches I have ever had the privilege to devour. My gratitude knows no bounds.
Cheerio ?

27 Back Quay, TruroIt's Subway, you cant go wrong! Plus, local vouchers to use helped us get a good value family lunch. Staff were keen to help, atmosphere is what it is for a place where you order, eat and five minutes later have finished and gone.

Costa Coffee
2-4 Victoria Square, TruroGreat coffee served by experienced staff. Quiet when I visited but does get busy. Staff are friendly and it's right in the town.
You can't hear the bustle of town in the shop, just sit back, relax and enjoy the coffee! Window seats to people watch if you like.

Cornish Arms
Frogpool, TruroProper little Cornish pub that hasn’t been ruined by modernisation. The food was lovely and huge portions. My husband had a beef madras with rice, I had the Chicken Michelle. We also ordered a portion of Garlic Mushrooms, which I swear was the biggest potion I’ve ever been served. We left feeling fat and full. We couldn’t eat everything on our plates. Super dog friendly too and didn’t mind our gobby dog. We took her back to the car after a while. Lovely place and we will be back

Last nights visit however was spoiled by a few scruffy idiots who could not understand the concept of waiting their turn to be served at the bar. Pushing in front of a large queue and when I called them out about it, received abuse.
