Just a really great boozer - huge range of beers new and old - quirky but welcoming to all, nutty or not!

Excellent pub with a great atmosphere. Lots of different beers and other drinks to try. Peanuts are free with a satisfying crunch under foot because that’s where the shells go. Live music some evenings when it can be busy. No food served, but you can bring your own. Nothing to fault.

A pleasant step back in time to a traditional hostelry with a wonderfully quirky ambience and ales and ciders to satisfy the most discerning of palates. All presided over by aknowledgeable Manager who makes the passing traveller most welcome. Another bonus point, free Monkey Nuts. If in Truro make time for a visit, it's a blast.

Great pub, friendly staff & fantastic range of real ale, ciders, also some topend whiskey, spirits etc. Lots happening in this well run establishment with great bands on at weekends, a Nuts comedy club, open mike nights, even folk music. Check it out.

I frequent the old Ale House every other week meeting my friend under the guise of discussing our writing, however, it seems to be more about the drinking and less about the writing. The pub has a fantastic ambience from the moment you walk in and feel the crunch of the monkey nut shells underfoot (yes free monkey nuts that you can fling the shells on the floor with gay abandonment, it feels so naughty but so good to do!)The bar is an ale lovers delight with a fast array to choose from, don't fret my lovely cider drinkers there is a great selection on offer for you too! Now, they do not serve food apart from the obligatory crisps etc and of course free monkey nuts, but this is certainly not a negative, quite the contrary. You are welcome to bring your own food in! For me this is pure joy as I rock up with my waitrose bag (ok lidl) filled with two plates, slate cheese board, at least 5 cheeses, Chutneys, biscuits and if I'm feeling a little wild charcuterie, this is lovingly assembled on the table and the drinking and feasting begins. So, you may think they have missed out by not serving food I say, "nay" This keeps us drinking there all night rather than spreading my wealth around the bars of Truro, it also means I would not dream of going to another bar on my twice-monthly jaunt. So my friends, pack your bags with your favourite nibbles and go and enjoy the great beer and lovely setting.

They are wheelchair accessible, even when busy! The bouncers jump to attention and run to grab the ramp. Great selection of spirits and beers. I had a couple of amazing rums, a great gin and a lovely pint of Bass.Wheelchair accessibility: The bouncers are amazing and come running to help with a ramp, they also offer to clear a path when busy. Brilliant.
