Booked here last minute. Food and service were excellent. Great chat from the server and fantastic local mussels.

Lovely tasty well prepared simple (in the best way) dinner in an atmospheric pitched-roof barn. The value for money was exceptional and the flavours - from the crab on sourdough to the risotto - were genuinely beyond criticism. Heating could be improved on what was a chilly night (so only four stars for that) but on balance it was exceptional enough to persuade me to write a review!

£4.50 for an Oat Cappuccino!! I am used to paying £3+ in central London, but I thought this was taking the mick! Coffee was ok, not amazing - nice setting inside.

Expensive; did not feel welcomed or 'looked after'. Would look elsewhere or self cater if I was in the area again.Vegetarian options: V limited for vegetarians - only one option on dinner menu.

Lovely dining room with lots of art on the walls and a warm, inviting atmosphere. I had the parfait to start with the most delicious chutney I’ve ever tasted and my partner declared the soup very tasty. The pork loin was incredibly juicy and perfectly cooked and the hake I had was nothing short of sensational. We couldn’t manage a dessert unfortunately but the options were very tempting. The service was friendly, professional and attentive with things brought out without any huge wait. I really recommend this unassuming from the outside restaurant for a surprisingly sophisticated and artfully cooked meal in charming surroundings.

Visited for an evening meal while staying nearby. This place is small but rather than being cozy is a bit soulless feeling like an art gallery with tables. The food was good. I had tiger prawns then a tasty tagine but I thought it was overpriced given the surroundings. Service was friendly and welcoming My wife is never too impressed when there is only one white wine by the glass on offer!

I don't review but felt compelled to this time. I've been to this restaurant over 15 years and last night we had a fabouluse meal for 4. One our best for a few years in any part of Cornwall. These guys need to be really complimented on all aspects of quality. Well done !

Thanks again to The Mowhay! The food was lovely, we both ordered fillet cooked blue/rare and they certainly didn’t skimp on the Maillard reaction - it was achieved on all sides of a fat piece of fillet each. Good Diane sauce and some sweet little roasted toms, also mushrooms and fries. ? we were not disappointed
