Rarely nice place offering excellent food and wine. Excellent service. No need to book if eating early.

Had the mushroom carbonara with truffle oil. It was absolutely fantastic! The espresso was served with a piece of homemade fudge which was the best fudge I’d had in a while! Lovely staff and warm atmosphere!

We went to this place for dinner as it was very well rated. We ordered soup and lobster ravioli. The latter was highly recommended by the reviews so my expectations were high. I ended up disappointed. The soup was good, but the ravioli sauce was very salty, hard to eat.

Whilst it's frustrating the restaurant does not accept reservations, we just dined slighter earlier than we normally would. We could not fault the service, extremely fast and very accommodating to dietary requirements (off menu requests). Would highly recommend and would definitely return.

What a great spot. Our pasta dishes were so flavorful and truly authentic. Prices are reasonable, good selections.

"Optional gratuities" were added without being asked, I was going to leave something but £12 for 6 people who had one drink and a main each and a wait for someone to clear the table and bring the bill. Food was very good and reasonably priced, drinks as ever pricey, £4.95 for a small Peroni, like buying fuel on the motorway! I'd go again as the food was authentic.

This is a restaurant that does not accept reservations. The menu is quite simple. We ordered the soup of the day, Fritto Misto, and Spaghetti Bolognese as appetizers. The Fritto Misto was very fresh, and the Spaghetti Bolognese was unexpectedly delicious. For the main course, we ordered chili pizza, seafood spaghetti, and Pork belly. The seafood spaghetti was decent, and the pork belly was rich but not greasy, with a perfectly balanced flavor and tender meat. The chili pizza, perhaps due to the beef sauce, was too moist, which significantly affected the texture of the pizza, making it the only downside of the evening. I highly recommend the iced coffee and strawberry ice cream. The service was decent, making it a restaurant worth trying.

Delicious food, lovely wait staff and such a relief that they don’t need you to make a reservation. I was met by a lovely gentleman who said it’s ‘first come, first served’. I had delicious steak and their hazelnut tiramisu was a dream. Enjoyed it and will love to go back there again. Perfectly comfortable for solo travellers.

Every time we visit Ambleside we come to Dodds, some of the nicest food in the Lake District. First time having lunch and it didn't disappoint, amazing pizza and the Cuban sandwich was incredible.

Second time visiting this restaurant, you cannot book, its on a first come first service basis, which we are fine with, but the moment you sit down, you are asked if you a ready to order!! Not even looked at the menu, food ok, not great, not bad, overpriced if honest, once you have finished your meal, you are asked if you want a dessert, we declined, told to enjoy our drinks, 2 minutes later the bill arrives, we wanted a coffee and more drinks, the bill was wipped away to accommodate us, finally when we asked for the bill, we were taken a back having to pay £7.52 in gratuities, no option given, not on as the service wasn't worthy of a £7+ tip, will we go back ....No

A great and kind waiters. Although the food’s great price, his taste wasn’t so good. There are a lot of good recommendations in Tripadvisor about this restaurant that I can’t agree with them.

One the the best Italian restaurants in Ambleside, honestly the others are overrated, over priced and have ridiculous waiting times. This restaurant is a much visit if you're looking for the most tasty Italian food. The service was impeccable, extremely fast and the staff were cheerful and able to meet our dietary requirementsVegetarian options: The catered to our dietary needs, we don't have egg either and they really worked with us to make our favourites (arrabiata & pesto pasta)

pleasant staff, very cheap pizza topping at premium rates, buty road outside with dorr open does not make for relaxing experience. Maybe good but not on our visit

After a long day of walking, my family were in the mood for pizza, so we ordered online from Dodd’s. The pizzas were excellent. We would happily order from them again.
